Houdini: Unlocking his Secrets

Show Summary

Houdini: Unlocking His Secrets is a 90-minute documentary uncovering the truth behind the mysterious performances of the world's greatest escape artist, Harry Houdini. A group of top magicians from around the world gather together to recreate Houdini's death-defying escapes and magic illusions. It showcases Houdini's actual apparatus and props that he used in many of his stunts in the 1920s. Renowned magician, Lance Burton, shows for the first time in public his personal collection of Houdini's former possessions from the Chinese Water Torture cell, Milkcan, straitjackets, handcuffs, to lockpicks. Houdini's stunts feature escaping from straitjackets while suspended high in the air, or escaping from locked coffins and trunks, and magic tricks such as the famous "Metamorphosis" illusion. The program also includes actual black-and-white footage of Houdini's performances in the early 20th century and interviews with his great-nephew and the last surviving member of his troop. Houdini: Unlocking His Secrets is a homage to Harry Houdini for his legacy in the world of arts and magic.
