As Patricia crosses the beam, pendulums begin swinging and the gang must turn back until they can learn the safe sequence. Vera helps Victor discover the correct code to enter the antechamber and then he searches their room and copies the map of the tunnels. Patricia's revenge backfires when it is discovered he knows French. Victor stumbles upon the latch to the tunnel system.
