  • Chase is lying, Foreman is back, Cameron is feeling guilty, something is going on with Cuddy, and the team has a new case

    8.6
    "Great"
Okay this was not a great episode of House. The case was sad and only a little bit interesting. House picking on Foreman was expected and as such boring. Chase working NICU was actually semi interesting. Cameron feeling guilty for Foreman was so expected because that's just Cameron. There was so much to this episode that was expected because of the last episode.

I found it so sad when the little baby died. I loved Chase there. It was brilliant to see Chase so sad that he couldn't prevent Micheal from dying. I liked seeing Chase in that perspective; it was interesting, different, and best of all unexpected.

I liked that Kara was hearing voices telling her to kill Michael. It was something different. I loved that she kept saying that she could have stopped trying to kill her son and that she didn't have to listen to the voices it proved that even if she seemed insane she was still sane.

Alcoholic dad was a thrown curve ball. I was kind of expecting it to be Mommy.

I loved Cuddy! She made up for the many character flaws in this episode. I loved her date with Wilson it was so obvious that she had a hidden agenda. I liked that House found out that she was trying to have a child and that's what her secret was.

This was a pretty lame episode character wise. The case was interesting and sad, but the characters were so boring.
  • What does Cuddy want with Wilson?....

In season two's "Forever," House has to deal with an overly-happy Foreman, an irritated Cameron, a worn-out Chase, an awkward Cuddy and Wilson, and a woman who dropped her baby in the bathtub after a seizure.

One thing that is not so great about "Forever" is how it addresses Foreman's health. Foreman, who we saw just one episode ago narrowly survive an illness and was seemingly left hanging on a cliff about the future health of his brain, just walks into the office at the beginning of this episode almost 100% better. I guess that looks like lazy writing to me - or, at the very least, the way Foreman's story is handled is just incredibly disappointing.

There are some great things about "Forever" however: the shocking case, House's unusual relationship with his team, and Cuddy and Wilson's date - the latter of which makes the entire episode worthwhile all by itself. "Forever" is certainly one of the better House episodes of season 2.
  • The team deals with Foreman going back to work.

    "Superb"
I thought this episode started a little slowly, and, for some reason, no matter how many times I watch it, I don't fully enjoy it as much as other episodes in this Season.

Nevertheless, whilst the puzzle was fairly dull, the case and the situations surrounding the case were quite dramatic, and involved another sad baby death. I think this was one of the first deaths of the Season, unless you count the policeman in Euphoria 1, and perhaps the dying girl in episode two.

I thought House showed both sides of his character well in this episode. He was very harsh, blunt and actually scarily dark when confronting the father about his alcholhism- it showed a very dark side of his character. Nevertheless, he was quite sympathetic to the mother, and tried to talk her out of her refusual to get treatment.

I thought Foreman's new positive attitude wouldn't last, and it was proven right in this episode. The team seemed a little disjointed, with Foreman not quite himself, Cameron guilty after performing the unnecessary brain biopsy on him, whilst Chase getting away from the team because his dad didn't leave him anything in his will.

I thought the Wilson and Cuddy subplot was quite interesting, and it gives a new angle for a Cuddy storyline. It was striking that although both Cuddy and Wilson are nicer than House, they both seem equally lonely.

Overall, I thought this was a solid episode, excellently written and brilliantly acted, yet wasn't quite as entertained as I have been throughout the Season. Something fell flat for me this episode, but I will still argue that the episode was great as a whole, just not as brilliant as some of the other ones.
  • Cuddy & Wilson go on a date.

    9.0
    "Superb"
Well this episode was very surprising, well actually it wasn't I mean who wasn't expecting atleats some romance between Cuddy & Wilson. But it turns out isn't really a date, it was an embarassing consult lol. Anyways the main plot, that was so creepy when the baby was underwater, they can show that on TV, wow, that creeped me out, while Foreman has an epiphany, a whole new Nice Foreman now that he appreaciates life. WHich did get annoying after a while, while Chase works somewehre else for a whgile to get double the salary. Crazy, didn't expect that. The mom & the baby die sooner or later, thats their 3rd & 4rth dead patient! A well-made episode.
  • Is she crazy or are there seizures? And upon Foreman's return House pushes him without regard for what he has been through.

    8.5
    "Great"
The team, minus Chase who is taking a break from House, encounters a woman that has just given birth, and is suffering from seizures that they can't figure out why, in addition she begins to hear voices also from an unknown cause, and as they rush to try and diagnose her to try and save her life, it also becomes a fight to try and save the life her child. After the child dies they conclude that the two may have been suffering from the same aliment, and after convincing the father to allow for an autopsy done by Chase, who is now been "back" on the team, they discover what is needed to save the mothers life. And also coming to light is that Cuddy is going through hormone treatments in the hopes of becoming a mother.

This episode ends with Foreman studying to regain what he has lost.

I thought that this was another episode that was very well written from beginning to end. The fact that both the mother and the infant had to die in the episode was kind of depressing, but the case was interesting and new and there was a lot else going on outside of the drama of the case. Foremans ability to agree with House actually made this episode comical. I found it funny to watch House freak out everytime Foreman agreed with him as opposed to starting an argument with him. I dont think this will stay for the reaminder of the seaosn, but it was good for an episode. The interactions between House and Cuddy were interesting. The date with Wilson turned out to be a little boring, but thats okay. Chase having to deal with the grief in this episode of killing the baby was cool, consdering the whole reason he went away from Houses team was to get away from deluded patients. I thought the episode was solid, with a lot of good plot points and humor.
  • A mother whos lost it and almost drowned her kid. House angry at Foreman for not being himself. Wilson who thinks he had a date with Cuddy.

    9.5
    "Superb"
I liked this episod where I for the first time saw Foreman happy at his work. Although I missed his disagreement with House. But I was a little bothered by the mean comments from House to Foreman. But thats the way House is.

As for Wilson and Cuddy. I actually thought it might be a date. I really want to see more of relationships in the show. But unforunatlly House was right (as always) that it wasent a date. Chase needed a break from all the leiing patients. I wonder if that is just bull like House sade or if its for real. Since he actually never gave a dame about patients. If somebody should need a break its Cameron. Who always gets involed emotionaly with patients.

Somehow I feel it is Camerons fault that Foreman isent at his best since she did'nt trust House. Even I know he always saves the patient at the end of the show! So she should have waited 1min with a obtopsi in the previous episod. I could see it in this episod that she did have some guilt. I was actually waiting for her to say sorry to Foreman. But I enjoyed the episod just as any other.
  • It made me cry!

It made me cry! It was hard on Chase because the baby died and then for House to come out and blame him for the death. . . but then he does tell Chase that it was the whole stomach not abosorbing the meds. Why is Cameron sticking up for Foreman .. .that man pisses me off. First he comes off and tells her that they aren't friends, and then calls her to be his medical proxy. . . When she hugs him in this episode, it rather pissed me off. Oh boy that look House gave him, that was comical. Don't Get Any Ideas House!!This Is a Cameron/Chase nation. . . .and WHY does he care for Cuddy so much? I loved how the entire episode Wilson and House were trying to descide whether they were on a date or not. . . It wasn't, it was . . . Lets go back to the patient, holy hannah It was crazy, I started screaming when the baby was in the water, How did House know about the dad? I swear he steals the script and reads ahead. . .

    oh . my . goodness

i'd say this was one of the best episodes of house ever ! it was so dramatic, i dont believe they actually did something that they do every blue moon or so - let House lose a patient! and that patient had to be a baby - a symbol of innocence!

i loved it, entirely. i couldnt really say how. i loved how it was chase that was hung up with the baby dying instead of cameron like it always is. and the little prayer he said just before he had to do the thingy on the baby was very touching. love it.
  • Oustanding performances. Chase has a secret.

This episode touches a postpartum psycosis. A young mother is found having seisures in a bathtub and almost dorwn her new baby. We get the weekley rendition of that moment from House when something casual or inconsequential lights the imaginary bulb over his head to solve the case.

It was pretty cool, how House figured out what was Cuddy up to. And poor Wilson in the middle of a Cuddy's Baby's Father audition.

All the team members had their own issues on their minds. Foreman, a little clumsy and fierless with his whole new rebirth attitude. And we notice how much House misses the Old argumentative Foreman, his mental match (Well, at least Foreman tries to beat House). Cameron dealing with guilt after Foreman's brain biopsy. And Chase, who apparently needed a break from House and patients, but he needed the money??? Taking vacation time from House team to work in NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) getting paid in both places. This was intriguing. Why he needed the money?

At the end, with all these plots, the case was very interesting and more usual that people thinks. The end was sad, but it was Kara's choice. And of course the plot exploted the whole Tom Cruise vs Brook Shield war.
  • It was sad...

It was sad that the baby died :( ... but I didn't get it like I go the part about the mom having seizures and almost killing the baby while she was giving it a bath and everything, but what I did not get was what was wrong with the baby?!.

I mean the baby died but was it because it gt a disease from the mom becaue of her seizures, or did it drown?( I did not pay much attention that is why I'm asking a probably truly obvious question. ) So like yeah I do nto get it.
  • Foreman is back, but content. Another sad baby story.

    8.5
    "Great"
Foreman is back from his illness but still suffers from short term memory loss and spatial coordination problems. He also has a personality change as he come to terms with his near death experience and acts happy. This infuriates House to no end as he is merely content to agree with House and not challenge him or provide original ideas. Of course it would, that's the reason he has them working for him.

The main plot revolves around a family which obviously has problems, but not until later do you find out that the parents are recovering alcoholics.

The dad rescues the baby, Michael, from drowning in the bath when the mother/wife has a seizure in the bath tub whilst bathing.

The wife then appears to be psychotic and smothers the baby. Unfortunately the lack of oxygen damages his internal organs sufficiently to kill him.

Chase spends the entire episode in the pediatrics area of the hospital and is upset over Michael’s death. Chase exhibits his religious side by praying for Michael before performing tests on his body in an attempt to save his mother. House learns he isn't trying to avoid him, or avoid patients as he claims, but is in some financial trouble and trying to earn some more money.

As a side story, Dr. Cuddy invites Dr. Wilson out to dinner. This is actually a rouse to interview Wilson about whether he'd be a good candidate for sperm donation for Cuddy.

Personally I dislike episodes of house involving infants/babies. I hate them when they die.

  • Not the best I have seen of House but not missalbe none the less

With Foreman sucking up to House he can get pretty annoying. However you would think that Chase and Cameron ould be normal, but oh no, Chase is obsessed over the idea that he has killed the baby.

Cuddy is looking for a donar in Wilsonm so that she can have children. Rather odd way for House to work that out.

Just to clarify, celiac disease can have an insidious presentation (as was the case here). In fact the most common symptoms are fatigue and intermittant diarrhea, which is pretty common as you can imgaine. Sounds like the personal experience you had was a much more typical presentaion and of course nothing can be typical with House.

    Really good episode though.
  • Oops. Major mistake! Other than research problems, well written...

    8.9
    "Great"
Celiac disease. In a nutshell, an allergy to gluten (think breads, cake, pasta - anything made with wheat flour, MSG, etc.....) that does indeed destroy the villi in the intestinal lining. This can develop at any time during one\'s life, and it can be passed down genetically.

The problem I had with this episode is simply the difficulty House and his team had in diagnosing the problem. A patient with non-diagnosed celiac disease is usually driven to seek help due to pain in the abdominal region and that was never brought up in this case (until she vomited up blood, and a stomach/intestinal biopsy would reveal celiac disease). As someone who has watched a parent go through the diagnosis for celiac disease, I was kind of shocked that a disease that impacts a great deal of people was so tough for these guys to figure out.

Hmmmm. Sometimes researching this type of episode requires more than reading symptoms from a text. And something this common should have been a snap for House!
  • House does the right thing!

    9.8
    "Superb"
I love the series, and I loved this episode.

To be honest, I have a low tolerance for blood and gore and excessive violence, and I usually have to fast-forward through parts of House. The kinder, gentler side of the writing that some reviewers complained about was exactly what enraptured me.

I loved watching House do the right thing. I agree with Cramorse's review: it was shocking to watch Dr. House toss his cane aside, 'sprint' effortlessly to the suffocating child, and begin mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on a patient (a tad too young to lie), even while sacrificing a breath to chide Foreman.

Even more, I loved the end when Dr. House surprises us when he chooses to not betray Dr. Cuddy but rather to protect her secret.

My favorite relationship in the series is the friendship between Dr. House and Dr. Wilson. I love their interaction and their charmingly awkward manners of expressing their fondness for each other. While being quite whack, it's delightfully entertaining!

I'm finally beginning to like Dr. Cuddy's character. I finally see her vulnerability and humanness, which warms me up to her.

Congratulations to the brilliant writers, especially for the creation of the remarkable character of Dr. House and the development of that character through his relationships with Wilson, Cuddy, and his team.

This series Rocks !! Thank you for returning high intelligence to prime time!
  • Foreman kissing House's ass, and a Mother strangling her own baby, amazing episode!

This episode is one of the best this season, with the Euphoria episodes being the best ones.

This coming episode looks very good, and also the season finale looks amazing. If you don't want to hear spoilers, don't read this part. In the season finale, House is the victim of a shooting from a former patient. I think the patient is from the Detox episode, the father. He has to diagnose a patient from his bed in ICU, with the shooter handcuffed to a bed, shot by hospital security. I wonder what they're going to do for the 3rd season?
  • Hard episode to watch!

    4.2
    "Poor"
I found this to be not one of my favorite House episodes. It was hard to watch with the things that happened to Michael, the baby. The scene where he was at the bottom of the bathtub was heartbreaking and disturbing. I know it is just TV, but it still hard to see. It's sad to think that stuff like that really does happen. It was wierd seeing Foreman out of character by agreeing all the time and being polite. It's not him. If Cutty wants kids, I wouldn't look in the same hospital I worked in for a donor. It would be too close for comfort and awkward. Its really hard to watch programs about kids, especially babies. They don't deserve it. If I would have known what this episode was about, I would have missed it for sure. It wasn't a typical episode of House. The team wasn't together.
  • According to House and quoted by Chase in this episode "everybody lies"....

    9.3
    "Superb"
Chase was a good example of House's maxim. Chase tells House he's asked to work in the NICU because in there the tiny patients can't lie and he likes this aspect of diagnosis. Lie # 1 for Chase. A few minutes later, you see Chase and House discussing the care plan for the baby and House wants ECMO for the infant. Chase argues that this is too dangerous and other things should be tried first. Next scene he tells the father that he(Chase) feels this is the way to proceed. Lie # 2 for Chase. You can see him pause for a moment before he tells this to the father. At the end of the show, Chase says he's working the extra shifts in NICO because he's not rich. Could this be just another lie? I hope there's more for us to find out about Chase's past. What secrets is he hiding. Too bad only 2 more episodes to go this season.

After last week's two parter its House back to normal ... or is it?

Cuddy wants a baby. House is thinking that maybe he is a candidate for the position of donor dad. Chase needs money ... but for what. Foreman is battling the effects of brain damage. Cameron is raked with guilt.

Not the most exiting story this week. Truth is that it is a bit of a let down compared to the previous week's shows.

But it is still important in that it has set a number of issues in place that will no doubt be further explored in future episodes

Forever was interesting, more Foreman bits, it was nice to see him followed up on a little bit. Not nearly as exciting or intense as last week but still a good episode. Laughed at House's L Word on mute comment. Medical storyline was moderately interesting.

I liked the Cuddy pregnancy thing, and I like how House kept it to himself. Also Chase was adorable in this episode.

It was really very character-oriented. Not as good as last week, but a good solid episode.

This is by far my worst rating EVER, an 8/10. This is one of the worst episodes i have ever seen. it was SO boring. not enough snyde and hilarious comments by House. HARDLY any plot development at all. OH, cuddy wants a baby, it doesnt mean she HAS a baby. i was very disappointed with this episode, and so were all my other colleagues. i hope this next one is WAYYY better.

Gets extra credit for Hillary Tuck, as superb as always. She is one of the most underrated and underappreciated actresses around. With beautiful blue eyes and a wonderfully expressive face, she always gives her all in every part. But the reason I never miss an episode is that House is such a fascinating person. No matter how much of a 'blankety-blank' that he continues to be, the fact is that any world that House inhabits will always be his world. Just from the full force of his genius, you have to put up with it or get out of the way.
  • Babies drowning in bathwater, drinking daddies, and a surfeit of character development.

    8.9
    "Great"
An average episode, not quite as strong as the past several weeks\'. The major problem? There was just too much going on: Foreman recovering, House trying to cope with how he\'d changed, Cameron trying to cope with...guilt?, Wilson and Cuddy going out on a date, House trying to figure out Cuddy\'s motives, Chase mysteriously retreating to the NICO, House realizing that Chase is double-dipping for murky reasons, Cuddy admitting that she\'s trying to get pregnant. And then, to top it all off, a twisty and emotionally-charged medical mystery.

Definitely, the episode was not business as usual; a fact which was an asset, to an extent. One really felt like House did: the world had been turned upside down, and things seemed to be falling apart, or at least changing immensely. That said, by cramming so much character development into a single episode, nothing really had the chance to resonate. Wilson and Cuddy\'s date could have been a solitary subplot, maybe a thematic foil for House and Cameron\'s from last year. Foreman\'s recovery should definitely have gotten an episode or two alone: although he\'s not back to normal, I\'d liked to have seen some of the struggle implied to have occurred off screen. Chase\'s behavior seems quite odd, even if his father cut him out of the will - which doesn\'t make sense, given their tentative reconciliation last year. Of course, I\'m not sure that Chase even confirmed that his was the case, and besides: how many doctors need that much money?

That said, the good? I liked how House seemed overwhelmed on all fronts - frustrated and distraught over the newly agreeable Foreman, baffled by Chase\'s implicit rejection, seemingly very concerned about Cuddy\'s health. Chase\'s reactions to the baby\'s death were well-acted. The House-Cuddy interplay was typically strong. The medical mystery was decent, but not all that strong, I think.

Overall, a solid, if problematic episode.
  • i love this show and it's a must watch on my tv.

what can you say about this episode! When it was dealing with a mon and her newborn baby, i was concern. Becasue i'm a father of two girls and this episode hit me hard.

When the father found the mom in the tub shaking and the baby drowning, i was feeling sick, but to see what this mother was doing to their baby i was mad at her and hope she died. Well she will because she has cancer and they can't cure it.

the characters were great as usual and wish the director of the hosiptal would just shut up and deal with the real life and quit going by the rules, be like dr. house.
  • This episode may have marked a slight decline from the high standard set by the preceding two episodes, but it was strong in the character-development department -- which is the department that counts most on this show.

    9.4
    "Superb"
The medical mystery was a little lacklustre as medical mysteries go, but this episode excelled in exploring the relationships among the characters. House put in an especially strong showing, perhaps one of his strongest of the season. House's frustration with Foreman was revealing -- and his efforts to provoke his star pupil produced some of the best one-liners in recent memory. Cuddy's covert efforts to become a mother were fascinating and, as one reviewer noted, House was able to get in a masterful Holmesian flourish when he explained how he had sussed out his boss's true intentions. Chase's motivations were somewhat cryptic -- but I don't mean that as a knock. Depth was added to his character, especially in the biopsy scene.

One moment that struck me was House's quick, almost panicked reaction when the mother was attempting to smother her baby. He tossed aside his cane -- something he does not often do -- and fairly sprinted into the hospital room. Then he engaged in somewhat frantic efforts to resusicate the child. At that moment, he did not look much like a cold clinician obsessed with solving the puzzle -- there was no puzzle, it was a simple case of oxygen deprivation, which anyone slightly acquainted with medical care would be able to diagnose and treat. Rather, House seemed like someone genuinely eager to save a life.
  • A little bland in comparison to the previous episodes.

    8.0
    "Great"
The two-parter that aired previous to this, Euphoria, was so well done that it's tough to match. As such, this episode pales in comparison. The storyline is a bit bland, and the character development seemed a bit forced. The only part of this episode that was top-notch was House, as he was in fine form.

The bit with the psychotic mother trying to kill her kid was interesting, but not handled well. The vengeful father was also a nice touch, but it ultimately went nowhere. Still, it was thrilling and suspenseful, just like all House episodes. The mystery was a bit lame, but still interesting.

The characters seemed a bit off, though. Foreman was irritating with his 'second chance' bit, Cameron was predictably shrill, and Chase was a bit too shadowy and mysterious. Not sure where they're going with that. The date between Wilson and Cuddy was interesting, as was the revelation about Cuddy. And House is always great. The only reason why this show is better than most medical dramas.

Overall, an average episode, with some interesting concepts that are never really fleshed out. Still, an average episode of "House" is better than most everything else on TV.
  • How do you follow up an intense two-parter like "Euphoria"?

    9.6
    "Superb"
    Like this.

While no one beats The Shield for ballsiest show on television, House could certainly take the title when The Shield finishes its run this fall (or early 2007, depending on who you listen to). House was absolutely brutal this episode. His interactions with Foreman, Chase, and Cuddy were some of his best so far.

What made this episode so effective was that we didn't have House's usual sniping remarks but rather obvious frustration with both Chase and Foreman's attitudes. As for Cuddy, that should certainly provide some entertainment for the rest of the season. And all the actors are just consistently upping their game. Jesse Spencer is clearly soaking in every moment he can since he's been pretty neglected ever since "The Mistake" earlier in the season.

Also, killing the baby? Wow. I mean, there's "Due to graphic content" and then there's "We're going to tell whatever story we damn well please."

Finally, who didn't like House's Holmesian explanation of how he knew Cuddy was trying to get pregnant.

Now I'm pretty bummed that there are only two episodes left this season, but I think the finale has the potential to blow the rest of this season away.
  • This episode has depressing on the case level, but was interesting in the context of the characters- the real reason we all watch the show

    9.7

While the case issues where heavy and serious, alcholism, the death of a child, the real action was in the interaction and actions of the characters.

Most everyone was behaving strangly, but this is what makes House so interesting! Foreman is acting overly agreeable, when in truth he is only not argueing because he has forgotten diseases and is unable to oppose House's outlandish ideas. Cameron seems guilt ridden and not her characterist caring. The issue of Chase working in NICU while collecting vacation raises interesting questions about his character, why does he need money, and the blessing of the baby brought back his seminary days, something that was not nearly visible enough in the eppisode where the patient communicated with God. Of course there is also the interesting dynamic of Cuddy wanting a baby but rejecting Wilson from the job of sperm donor, and House not telling Wilson what he found on the report.
  • A nice Foreman and a baby-killer, oh my!

    9.5
    "Superb"
I LOVED House's frustration with Foreman! Turns out you can get more of a rise out of House by being nice than anything else. It was refreshing to see the more human side of Chase too. He is usually so self rightuous and it was good to see something get to him. And finally, some humanity from Cuddy. She wants a child. I feel like something is going to come to a head between House, Wilson and Cuddy. This was such a downer episode -- alcoholism, dead child, choosing to die. At least House showed that he is capable of some discretion.
