    House M.D

    Season 5

    Episode 18: Here Kitty

A nurse fakes an illness in order for House to treat her. She believes she's dying because a cat predicted her death. House is skeptical to this, b ut when the nurse gets really sick and another patient who the cat predicted dies, House and his team will have to investigate the cat. Meanwhile, Taub tries to get a new job.

Pretty cool episode. It was funny, interesting. A cat who predicts death? What the hell is that? Is an awesome House M.D episode. Great. Was pretty funny. Yeah, it was. Here Kitty is a funny House episode.

In this episode of House, the following happens. House takes on the case of a nurse, who has a fit and whilst she is having it she urinates on herself, which is green. Which even House thinks is interesting. Soon House learns that she faked the green urine and the fit, and then she comes clean. A cat has predicted her death. Soon she starts getting sick and so the team investigate further. Soon they believe that she has a condition called Cushions. Just as she is about to have surgery, House finally realises what is wrong with her, she has cancer in her appendix.
  • Not bad, for an episode about a cat...

I thought this was a quite ridiculous idea at first, and indeed the patient seemed a bit of a nutcase. However, it was a very funny episode. House deals with a cat who can "predict death", and finds himself once again questioning his own faith. Despite his arrogance and wit, we as an audience do get to see his inner demons and worries thanks to Hugh Lauries brilliant acting abilities; he acts with his eyes. His connection to the patient was also very touching- the writers seem to be bringing that back to the show, which was lacking in some of the earlier episodes.

House and Kutner were also brilliant- the pranks they played on each other made me laugh throughout, though Kutner urinating on House's chair was a bit disgusting!

Taub also seems to be in a rut, and I worry for him. His finances are being drained, and hes unhappy in his job. Although he would never admit it, House seems worried about him too.

Overall, a very good episode, despite its initial ridiculousness.

I couldn't ever really take the episode seriosuly. And for the first time in a while - the best part of the episode was not House. Taub stole this episode and made it watchable, which I believe would be a first for his character for me anyway. To watch him go through all that just to get scammed in the end by someone he thought was his friend was brutal. I got fooled. I thought he was really going to leave the show and take this new job. It was everything that he wanted. A new, fresh start. Seems like his life is just getting worse and worse and I think the cat at the end was meant to show something. The end of the seasons are usually reserved for the best episodes and what if Taub committes suicide in the season finale? I could honestly see it being the "high-profile" death that is coming our way in the finale. All indication seems to point that way. The rest of the episode was decent at times, but nothing that amazing.
  • House solves one because of a cat

I think this was a great episode. I love the begining riff of Ted Nugents Stranglehold in the first scene, and the later reference to Ted Nugents Cat Scrath Fever. This is not the first time Uncle Ted was referenced in an episode. I was a little down on Wilsons part in this one. Didnt even need Wilson in this episode. The lines were the same old thing and didnt really matter. But Wilson did seem a little deprssed.....

Now, Taub seems to be really depressed and this is what the episode was about.

This brings us to who are they going to kill off by suicide at the end of the season, of the 9 characters...

    here are my assessments

Taub--- likely to off himself, depression, bad marriage, lost all his money, hates his job

Thirteen-- dying of a desease, could turn for the worse, commits suicide

Wison-- several bad marriages, Apil died, his brother is crazy, and he seems lost, could off himself

Cuddy --- maybe going crazy between the job and the baby, might go crazy and kill herself

Foreman--- maybe early onset of alzhiemers like his mothers, complications with the brain surgery he had, .. umm, maybe he kills himself

Cameron--- so caring, but affected, but not affected , doesnt want love, just sex, a real dychotomy here, maybe she kills herself

Chase--- unlikely to kill himself, but maybe he is just tired, he looks really tired when he is on screen, it that the actor or the character, who knows, ..... we know he cut off from millions by his family in austrailia, but i dont see him offing himself

Cutner---no way the character kills himself, he loves his job, like playinbg with house, and the writters have shown no reason this character would be in any distress

House-- without House there would be no show, so no way house kills himself

Now, if the press is saying it will be someone unexpected, then the list get reversed and cutner is on top.

but for my momey, i say Taub, but that would be expected and not shocking at all, .... but the guy is a great tv actor, i like when he appeared on law and order a few times, and could get on another type show like this or that pretty easily i think

I really waiting for this episode and after him I`m not disappointed. He was exactly such I expect. House is still leading in his joke`s and metaphor`s (figure`s of speech). Episode with a lot of drama and funnies situation`s( fake blood on Kutner`s shirt and prejudice Kutner`s about superstition ). "Death cat" that was really curious, even House believe in that for moment :) but unfortunately kitty just searching some thing to warm herself :) Dr. Taub searching a new life ... how finish that ? Taub was really close being homeless with no money , just lucky rescue him and of course House`s magnetism :D

    Nice episode.

    Note 10.

  • Funny episode...

This was an amazing and funny episode. I couldn’t stop laughing. At first House did not believe that the cat (what a cute cat) could predict the deaths, but he changed his mind later. Of course he finally found the right solution, he always does. I liked the pranks he played on Kutner, and I loved the scene with Wilson in the elevator. It was good to see Chase in more than one scene. I hope we get to see him and Cameron more in future episodes. I was glad to see Taub returning in the end. Do you thing he will keep the cat?

The best episode of house ever.I love the cat,it should be on more episodes. They should have had the owner die and have house take ownership of the cat and use it to help diagnose. This episode goes back to the old school house episodes comedy wise.I only wish Chase was in it more but at least he was in it a little bit.No Cameron was the only negative if there was one.I liked was a complete idiot Taub was,and House with the ladder umbrella and salt shaker was classic.Too bad the cat probably wont be on any more episodes in the future.
  • A cat that can predict people's deaths, a superstitious assistant, a patient who believes the 7th day Advent cult is a good thing, and House at his worst, which is of course his best. What more can one ask for?

    9.5
    "Superb"
A nurse comes in being convinced she is going to die, because the cat in her workplace can smell death, and whenever she sits by someone's bedside they die a little afterwards. A large question is put to House and the team, about whether the cat can actually predict death or is in fact causing it. In the meantime the patient keeps getting worse. Taub is going through his own personal drama, having lost his savings in the stock market and dealing with House's insolent behaviour on top of that.

In this episode we get everything all at once. House being disrespectful to coma patients, to normal patients, to faith, superstition, his assistants, little kids with cancer and whatnot. It's just hilarious to watch him break down all the barriers and do the exact opposite than what one would expect of a doctor. The patient has a seizure and he just sits there and waits for Cuddy to come help out, he tortures Cutner for being superstitious in all kinds of imaginable ways - bringing ladders under the door, throwing salt off the table, even opening a black umbrella in his face (I laughed until my stomach hurt on that one). Apart from all those reactions however, which are more or less within the boundaries of the House we know and love, there is more equilibrium in him in this episode than ever before. He debates the issue of faith and belief in something beyond scientific hard facts, as always, but he doesn't seem to be so angry anymore. He seems to be able to accept other people's right to believe in what they will, even if he thinks their beliefs are stupid. I think he is opening up his mind and heart a little, and is not so averse to the fact that there might be an inkling of hope somewhere out there. In the final dialogue with the patient when she tells him some people simply need something to believe in, he accepts that and just wishes her well and leaves the room. He obviously disagrees but doesn't make a big deal out of manipulating her opinions like we would expect.

On a more personal note the script writers drift away from 13 and Forman, which is a good choice. They concentrate on Taub instead, and give him some more screen time. In an attempt to re-evaluate his life that is initiated by his financial collapse, Taub is conned by a guy to believe they were ex-classmates, and to invest money in his non-existent company. He quits his job with House only to find out it was all a scam, and he is forced to return the same day. House could have made a tasty meal out of him but except for a casual remark he doesn't do anything. In fact while he leaves the office he looks back at Taub in a compassionate, understanding way. Given the fact that he fought for the patient's surgery in the last episode (in his speech to Chase he was very sincere and compassionate), could this really be the beginning of a significant change of perspective in his character? Could House really be turning to a more positive person?
  • Cat who brings death.. or not?

I most say the story was very well chosen - it was different, it was clever, it was something that for sure caught they eye and nailed me to screen. So I most say - on that side it was very well done. I also liked the char developments on Taub. I think we haven't got much concentration on him and it was great to have the char focus of 13.. (I like her.. but there are more people around).

I adore House obsession with the cat.. the way he figured out what was really wrong.. the whole dynamic of the episode.. So.. good episode.
  • No Cameron...again.

Why was Cuddy so quick to kick the patient out? In Deception when Foreman was in charge, she said Foreman made the wrong call in releasing the patient.

Kutner always has some good lines. His thoughts on cats' alpha brain waves were funny. Also, his throwing the salt over his shoulder, walking around the ladder was funny, and avoiding the cat was funny. House's prank on him and his in return was good.

Chase finally had some important lines for once, nice to see. Plus he was in more than one scene, which is always good.

Taub had an interesting storyline as well. The scam he got caught in was interesting. The guy played on the fact that if you don't remember someone, you don't question them because then you feel bad. Despite not minding him, I was hoping he was actually quitting. There are too many characters on the show. And why was he coming back at night?

It was good to see so many House/Wilson scenes. And hardly any 13. No Cameron again though! That is now 4 out of the last 5 episodes. They can come up with all these ridiculous scenes for Cuddy whose only purpose is to continue to push Huddy (last week with the patient, this week watching the video) but they can't even put Cameron in one scene.

And Joy is being shown next week to foreshadow Huddy.
  • It's all about a Cat that likes being warm...

    5.5
    "Mediocre"
I got to say this is the first time I've ever given House a low score on an episode and the first time I've been so disappointed on an episode of this show.

First of all I think House's jokes on his team are really going out of hand, especially on Kutner. I mean first they were funny, but now they are silly and unpleasant. It was even uncomfortable for me to watch them, asking Taub to clean the cat's sand, the jokes on Kutner's superstition and the cranberry spit on his shirt all of this made the episode silly to watch.

Now the 2 parts I did like was House having the talk with the patient outside the hospital trying to make her sick so she would be admitted again and letting Taub quit, but not arguing with him for knowing he would come back, this were my highlights of the episode.

I just hope the writers bring Cameron and Chase back a little more and I also hope that House and Cuddy start having something.

These last episodes have been normal to bad for me, no character development, and no exciting or nerve-wrecking scenes. Actually I miss the old House, the old team, House's cool jokes and quotes, the old House and Cuddy flirty scenes and the unsolved diagnostic mystery cases which we had before.

Good episode, but expected more. The cat which just liked being warm had more attention than the patient, thats sad. At least the last scene with Kutner's joke made a pretty funny ending.

    Thanks 

Here Kitty isnt necessarily a cleverly written episode but it is still quit funny and and extremely entertaining but then again, how many episodes of house arent entertaining? In Here Kitty we get to see houses obsession at its finest when he makes friends with a cat that can supposedly tell when a person is about to die. Quite possibly my favorite part of this episode is the House vs. Kutner storyline just because its house at his finest and Kutners absolutely hilarious. I have really enjoyed this season of house so far and cant wait til next weeks episode.

Dr. Gregory House was at his comedic best here and you could tell that when the opening scene had him building a track for a toy car, and getting more excited over it than an impending collapse in his office. I'm sure a few of his gems will pop in the quotes section in hours, but he almost felt like Patrick Jane from The Mentalist with the way he was hoodwinking and subtly insulting his co-workers.

Judy Greer, who has guest starred on more shows than FOX has canceled, gave a decent performance here. She is better off in a comedy environment, as seen on last season's Miss Guided, but I did like the storyline with the cat much more than I was expecting. House does not always pull their plots from the news in the way Law and Order does, but it was a good usage of a semi-recent event here.

Kutner urinating on House's chair in the concluding scene was a little childish, but that was one of my few gripes with this episode.
