  • "You can't always get what you want..."- A Season Finale Review

    10
    "Perfect"
This finale was a perfect end to a near perfect first series.

The dynamics between Stacy and House were perfect, and you could see both the sexual tensions, care and awkwardness behind their brilliant acting. The end conversation they have, where Stacy says he will always be the one, was a fantastic piece of writing, and in a way it makes her love for House a little bit more realistic than Cameron's, who we learn in this episode was more in love with the idea of House being nicer before his leg.

Nevertheless, I think the growth in this episode for Cameron was good- she learns a lot about the reality of House, how he is capable of love and affection. I believe their story isn't over yet.

The case itself was a very interesting one, and definately all the more dramatic as the patient is the husband of the girl he loves. Overall, I think this was a fitting end to the first series, and there is clearly a lot to build on for future seasons. The acting was perfect, the writing was perfect, and us lucking audiences have the pleasure of watching one of the greastest shows and characters ever created.

According to my reviews for the series, it is rated at: 9.8 out of 10.
  • Cameron confronts House after their date.

    10
    "Perfect"
Well Cameron confronts House at the very end but it seemed more intriguing than other plots, although no cliffhanger, still a great season finale. An emotional season finale. House still loves his ex girlfriend & they sure do talk about the past a lot. I wanted the husband to die, he was such a jerk to house, even if it was paranoia, he was just so annoying, I wish they would just kill him off so House & Stacy can be together & House wont be so loveless but they cured him at the end & it seems like a love triangle starts when Cameron sees House staring at Stacy & confronts him about her feelings towards him, it was nice to know Stacy still loved House, amazing to see actually, a great season finale with a lot of closure.

  • One to keep on my weekly view list.

Well developed intriguing characters keep the viewer involved and capture the audience's attention.

Good acting and character selection makes this series on the weekly list. An intriguing and out of the norm main character keeps the viewer into the plot.

This was my first episode but hopefully it will be only the first of many to come.

  • Excellent!

In this episode, the season finale, House deals with Stacy's husband Mark, whose awkward symptoms lead House and his three partners to one of the hardest cases. Yet, House cannot separate his personal life from work when he doesn't really want to help his new patient. In this episode, Stacy renews her feelings for House, and Dr. Cameron finds out how much House can love a person. This is the second most important episode for a first-time watcher to catch. 9.2.
  • House rules

    9.8
    "Superb"
This might not have been the "best" overall episode of House, but it was still fantastic. All year long I wanted House to end up with Cameron or Cutty...and I was a bit bothered that they were bringing in Sela Ward....but I have to say, she really won me over. I can't wait for next season with her added to the cast. It's gonna be good stuff
  • While not the best ever House it has some interesting developments.

    8.5
    "Great"
The best thing about this episode is how you gain a bit more knowledge into House's character. He isn't a completely cold and mean person, but rather a hurt one.

The sparring between House and his ex-wifes husband was very entertaining.

The best (and saddest) part of this episode is at the end when House looks at his cane, throws it away and tries to walk without it. Only to collapse painfully as his leg gives way. This in itself is sad to see him attempt to overcome his handicap and fail, but this is even more depressing when he flips a pill, succumbing to his drug-addiction.

Can't wait for the next episode as always.
  • This episode show the other side of Dr. House. It let us know that his just like any other human being - he fall in love.

Very revealing, fascinating & touching. It brakes my heart to see Dr. House being fallen out of love & at the same time, hoping that he can find someone right for him.

I admire the courage he had despite the fact that Mark is now, the new love of stacy.

    Very touching & heart warming
  • Well, Stacy sucks, but not even she could ruin this episode for me.

    9.8
    "Superb"
This is the last episode I've seen of this series so far, and what a fine episode it was.

To be honest, I didn't really like the whole Stacy story much, and I didn't really like Stacy herself that much either. She was incredibly condescending in my opinion, but unlike House, she wasn't actually superior or anything, and thus had no real justification to be so. As if that wasn't enough, she also kept spitting out incoherent, completely senseless statements towards House, which probably would've been mocked at considerably by him had it been anyone else doing the spitting.

So OK, I get it, I presume we're supposed to see a more human side of House here, a more vulnerable one, etc etc, and no-one less than House's equal could possibly bring that side out. However, the lame attempts at making her appear to be his equal were quite pathetic, and she just seemed overconfident and nothing more. Not even witty. Saying what she did to him was exactly what he does to all his patients, "only she did it to him", was absurd, ridiculous, and untrue, and the fact he couldn't come up with an answer to that just made him seem pathetic to me, possibly for the first time.

But, I'm getting sidetracked here. I was trying to write how much I liked this episode.

I think the reason I liked this one probably has nothing to do with its uniqueness, with it showing House in a different light, or anything like that. I liked in this episode the same things I liked in all other episodes of the series, I just thought they were a bit... better here.

The jokes were as amusing as usual, though the only particular one I can recall is the one about House taking "the big black guy", and the Aussie running away screaming once a hint of trouble appears, or something to that effect. Oh and, yes, I realize I'm probably doing the actual quotes a grave injustice, but I'm going by memory here, and memory of the subtitles at that, so please don't judge me too harshly.

In addition, I found several parts of the episode quite touching. In particular, I was somewhat moved by how heartbroken Dr. Cameron appeared at the end, and House's failure to walk without his cane (which, yeah, seemed kinda inconsistent with the rest of the show, but hey).

Finally, the scene I loved the most was the one after he injected that guy with the "cocktail". Not only was him "faking out" the other Doctors amusing, especially followed by that "see what I did there?" of his, but I also found it amazing to see how well he managed under stress.

Now, we all know House isn't easy to scare, but with a guy having a fit as you're trying to get his urine sample, one of your own staff yelling at you that "you were wrong" when you very well could be, and the one person you really care about begging you to do something, I figure most guys would easily freak out.

House not only didn't freak out, but apparently remained completely calm, and still found a solution better than any other doctor in the room would've.

    A definite epitome of "Houseness".
  • Several well orchestrated endings of installments in this series are quintessential"House". My previous favorite 'double entendre' ending showed House exiting the hospital after a typical diagnostic battle as the refrain from a Who song echoes in the back

Several well orchestrated endings of installments in this series are quintessential"House". My previous favorite 'double entendre' ending showed House exiting the hospital after a typical diagnostic battle as the refrain from a Who song echoes in the background. This installment's ending with its visual and musical symbolism topped "the Who" ending for effect.

In the hallway, telling House why she left him five years ago, Stacy says,".... with you I felt alone." Later, through the corridor glass, House observes Stacy lying on her husband's hospital bed cuddling him and being cuddled by him. House returns to his apartment and struggles to walk independently as the Stones sing '.... you can't always get what you want.... but if you try sometime, you just might find, you get what you need...

He wanted to keep his leg; she wanted a relationship. In getting what 'they needed', they didn't get each other!

    Tragically brilliant!

  • House's Past

This is a great episode. We see a softer side of house and we find out he still loves Stacey- even after she had his leg removed-but she's married now.

The Ending isn't sad but it's not happy either-are Cameron and House mean't to be together?

I can't wait till next season.
  • A wonderful way to end Season One.

    9.8
    "Superb"
This was certainly one of the better episodes in the first season, while the previous one was probably better for a few reasons. It was good how they introduced Stacy to you before this episode, because if they would have done so in this one, there would not have been enough time to explain her and House's past together.

This episode also really had its moments, whether they were funny (like when House and Mark were fighting at the begining in front of Stacy) or really intense (like when House is watching the enhanced version of the tremors or towards the end where House injects the syringe into Marks leg despite what everyone wants.) I say it was a good choice of disease as it was obviously really rare and difficult to discover.

    Medical Problem: Acute Intermittent Porphyria

  • An average House episode with some nice character development.

    8.4
    "Great"
this episode's medical mystery wasnt near as exciting as i excepted. good opening, i love how House drugged the patient.

but the 'middle' part of the episode wasnt as cool. Surely it was nice to see Stacy and House but it was..really, nothing. I was disappointed,i excepted more intense feelings and emotions.

The solution to this medical mystery was OK. house vs his whole staff was a great scene, I must admit. the ending was the best part because of the huge character development(House isnt always an ass nor miserable) and the montage at the end.

But previous episode easily beats this, so, overally, a disappointing finale.
  • And into House's past we go

    9.7
    "Superb"
I really did enjoy seeing House and Mark get into a pissing contest at the beginning. It was quite humerous. When they were trying to out drink each other and House going on about women and how you can't live with them you can't kill them so tell the neighbor's they're stripping in Atlantic City I think he said something like that and it was really really funny. I loved how House dosed him and then the guys came right after and House told everyone they were safe unless they had the veal.

Seeing House and Stacy interact was good also. I enjoyed how Wilson kept telling House to stay away from Stacy but treat Mark. And Mark getting jealous whenever Stacy was talking to House and all. And Cameron telling Mark that it must be strang to be treated by a man that his wife used to be involved with must be weird was just icing on the cake.

I loved how they had no ideas as to what was wrong with Mark and they thought that it was this then it couldn't be this and maybe it's that. It was just really good.

Awesome episdoe and Superb ending to the season.
  • Excellent episode!!!

For me, this is one of the best episodes so far! House’s ex Stacy asks him to find out what is wrong with her husband Mark. He is suffering abdominal pains, but is convinced he is healthy. Through the episode you get to see that House is not completely cold-hearted, he is able to have feelings for a woman. He has a hard time helping Stacy to save her husband. He is struggling between being an excellent doctor that wants to save a patient, and not wanting to help Mark and let him die, so he can have Stacy for himself. Dr. Cameron learns that House is able to love, only not her.

This episode was certainly an emotional one for anyone who wacthes the series. I thought learning a little more about House and his ex wifes backstory made for a very interesting two part close out to the series. I thought that the disscussion between Cameron and House was a little depressing, shutting down just about any chance for a relationship between the two of them. I thought the scene with Cuddy at the end is the exact reason I watch this show. Who couldnt love his reaction to "I have a question for you". Classic House. I cannot wait to get my hands on the Season 2 DVD, this is in fact a fantastic show and this was a great way to end season 1!
  • A great episode, and a fitting end to a wonderful first season

    9.5
    "Superb"
This episode, coming immediately after the classic "Three Stories" episode where it is revealed how House's leg injury occurred, contains a lot of character development to sway House further from the 'obnoxious good doctor' toward the 'troubled soul.' Stacy knows something is wrong with her husband, but many doctors have told him he is fine. So she goes to the best -- her ex husband House. House is reluctant to treat him because he still has feelings for Stacy and would be perfectly fine with Mark (Stacy's husband) not living. Then the writers start to get creative with the double-meanings. Stacy is forced to make the same tough decisions that she had to make with House when he was put into a medically induced coma. House helps her go against Mark's wishes, and ultimately saves his life because of it.

The traditional cliff-hanger season finale moment, however, comes after the case when Stacy reveals that she still has feelings for House but will not leave her husband, and when Cuddy reveals that she has offered Stacy a job at the hospital (so that she can monitor Mark closely).

All-in-all, I was very entertained by this episode and glad that they started to explore into the pasts of the main characters. It really leaves the viewers wanting to see where this Stacy thing is headed.
