  • this is more of a Lundy episode, going back into his past some, and getting a feel for his value system, and where it came from.

Colt is a more emotional episode than alot of them.

Lundy is livid that he has lost it, and let his unspoken pledge to his grandfather get broken.

It takes us deeper inside Lundy, and his Texas values, handed down to him from his Texas Ranger grandfather.

Joe doesn't understand what it means, but does try to help anyway, and when Lundy's over the top actions get him suspended, you come to see how the partnership has evolved-because even when Levon isn't going to ask for help---and is bound to get himself in deeper trouble, Joe comes to back him up, and make sure he comes out of it okay.

The last shot of Lundy, pitching away the gun, is sad, cause you know how much it took for him make that action.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • A rash of freeway shootings in L.A. was going on when 'Colt' was about to be rerun in the Spring/summer of '88. CBS yanked the episode and it wasn't seen again. The initial suggestion for the freeway shootings actually came from occurrences in Texas the year before the show started up.

  • NOTES (0)

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • The mechanism of the cop going after his stolen gun as it's passed through many hands was suggested by the Levinson-Link '74 MOW 'The Gun'. (which relies for its structure back to Schnitzler's 'La Ronde'). But an even better antecedent (and one the writers and producers were, at the time, unaware of), was Kurosawa's '49 'Stray Dog', starring a very young and skinny Toshiro Mifune.
