  • Ted makes it rain, while Lily leaves Marshall.

In the Season 1 finale, Ted has decided enough is enough. He wants Robin. So he goes to crazy measures to make sure she does not go on the station camping trip with the arrogant Sandy Rivers. Apparently Barney knows a girl who saw someone perform a rain dance before. And somehow, just somehow, (In the words of Barney, "Oh, come ON!") it starts pouring. Ted declares his love for Robin at her doorsteps and they're finally "official". Meanwhile, Ted comes back the next morning to see Marshall on their doorsteps holding Lily's engagement ring, indicating Lily left for San Francisco. Indicating this will be a long summer for not only Marshall, but the others that have to deal with him. Don't like the move by Lily, but everything has its obstacles and here's a big one that few could probably clear. But I liked the episode as it was a good ending to great first season of How I Met Your Mother.
  • Worst episode ever!!!

This was one of the worst season finales ever! That whole Ted & Robin deal has been annoying & stupid since day one (totally bad karma to be the catalyst for a breakup the way Robin was w/Ted & Veronica) & Marshall & Lily breaking up was absolutely horrible!!! They're the best part of the show!!! It's one thing to have cold feet & to wonder 'what if I pursued this dream' but to break your engagement to the man you love?!?! No, that's just wrong!!! This might as well have been the series finale if they don't bring Marshall & Lily back together & break up Ted & Robin. Let's face it, Robin's a pain in the a$$ & doesn't deserve someone who loves her as much as Ted does. Marshall & Lily were the best, this ending sucked! Worst episode ever!!!

"Come On" is an awesome season finale for How I Met Your Mother. In this episode, Ted is trying to win Robin's heart. I love how Amy Acker guest stars in this episode and she plays a girl named Penelope. I love how she tries to teach Ted how to do a rain dance when she has never actually done a rain dance herself. I love how Ted makes up his own rain dance and makes it rain. I love how he goes to Robin saying he did the rain dance to make it rain, so her camping trip with Sandy would get cancelled. The episode definitely had sad part with Lilly leaving Marshall. I give this episode a 10/10.

  • Robin and Ted finally get it together, while Lily leaves Marshall...plus a rain dance thrown in for good measure...

I admit it, I like Ted and Robin. I find it believable that he keeps coming back to and for her. I guess though I have some concerns about what happens next. According to Future Ted, Robin isn't the one. Oddly enough, that makes me a little sad, because I think the writers have done an outstanding job showing how right they are for each other in so many ways. I guess the Marshall and Lily storyline had to go this way. It is TV, people are always going off to find themselves. It will be interesting to see how all of the characters react to Lily's departure. Marshall and Lily's relationship kind of acted as foundation for the rest of the group. The last scene of this episode was perfect. Ted in the cab completely excited about finally beginning his relationship with Robin contrasted perfectly with Marshall sitting in the rain clutching Lily's engagement ring. I consider this show somewhat of a guilty pleasure. I started watching while sick, but the last scene was really well done. Here's hoping it provides a good jumping off point for next season.

This Has To Be One Of The Most Amazing Season Finales I've Seen!

You Cant Piss Off The Universe =) But He Just Made it Rain!

Barney & Ted's 'Fight' In The Bar, About Penelope Was Pure Genius, 'Ted Your Forcing Me To Be The Voice Of Reason, And Its Not A Good Look For Me' I Would Say The Only Let Down To This Episode Was When Lily & Marshall Go To Dinner At Red Lobstar, I Just Found it Pointless.

However The Scene After Makes Up For It. 'Why Do You Want Me To Pause' Such A Great Scene!!!

The Major Part Of This Episode Was The Hilarious Rain Dance!Very Beautifully Done =)

The End Song, This Modern Love, By Bloc Party, Is A Personal Favorite Of Mine. The Scene Between Robin & Ted, Gave Me Amazing Hope, Since They Are My Fave Couple.

& Just To Sayy POOR MARSHALL =(

With Amazing Guest Stars From The Angelverse =) Makes This An Amazing Season Finale!

This was one of the best series finale ever. It had everything. It was funny, romantic, and sad. I enjoyed every second of it. The rain dance was hilarious. And it was great to see Ted and Robin together. Though i was really sad when lilly and marshal broke up. the last scene in which marshal and ted were sitting together was pure gold. I can't wait to start watching the second season. I hope it is just as good if not better then this season. I got a feeling that Robin is not the mother. Only time will tell.
  • A great season finale.

Well the first season of How I Met Your Mother impressed me, disappointed me, and made me happy all at once. I know I am definitely sticking around for season 2. The plot at first seemed a bit ridiculous. A rain dance to get Robin back, and they already tried the whole Ted/Robin experience about 5 times this season. So it was kind of tiring trying to see Ted get Robin again. This episode is just him pursuing her. He says no, and agrees to go on a camping trip with her co-worker, Sandy. Ted does a rain dance to make it rain so she doesn't have to go on the camping trip. I think that was the only ridiculous part. Ted & Robin get together in the end. Which should keep most fans excited for the next season. But all the fans already know that this will come to a bitter end, since we know Robin isn't the mother. The BIG plot that brought the rating of this episode way up is Marshall finding out that Lilly got the art fellowship. I don't know why, but Lilly has become so unlikable ever since 120. Marshall could have gave her everything and Lilly just packs up and leaves!? Just because of a personal issue to fulfill her dreams. It's definitely unfair to Marshall. Him holding Lilly's engagement ring was heart breaking. One good, one bad: Nice balance. A great season finale. I just really didn't think Lilly would leave. Excited for season 2 though!
  • The 'rain-dance' – abosolutely hilarious!

This was a really awesome season finale for How I Met Your Mother and I really enjoyed it a lot! The storyline was highly interesting and it was filled with some intensely funny and hilarios emoments!

I really loved the idea of this 'ran-dance', and I was really cracking up non-stop when I saw this! It somehow worked though, lol!

Sadly, the season doesn't end too weel for Marshall and Lily, and Lily makes and unexpected and poor decision in this one. That was really sad to see, and hopefully it will all be resolved early on in the next, second season.

Great finale, and I would hihly recommend this episode! Great work guys, and I can't wait to see some more!

This show was intriging from being all the way toward it's season finale. From it's constant developing storyline it showed how truly three dimentional these characters are and how their dilemas truly affected what just happened in this episode. It's was great from seeing two Angel alumni from Alexis Denisof and Amy Acker both did a good job with their characters, I hope their new editions (if not oh well) and that more Buffy and Angel alumni show up, that would be awsome since I'm a fan of both shows. Down to what happens in both Ted and Marshalls relationships that parallel with one another. The common thing about both of them is about desperation, the lengths one goes to win someones heart and hold on for as long as it last. But also the painful choice we have to make between love and what we want to accomplsh and be out of life. It's funny just see Ted so madly in love with Robin, he doesn't want her to go on a certain trip which could mean losing her that he resorts to the most implassable thing that could only by luck work, a rain dance. And we see him do it, litterally and it works.

Down to Marshall and Lilly arguing, this cute couple we've seen argue before but this time it big and no happy resolution is going to help solve this matter. It's just sad seeing this couple in this unhappy episode of their life, but also truthful because sometimes love and our goals don't always balance out.

The show then does the same thing that "Friends" does to end their seasons with both a twist and cliffhanger. The twist in this episode is good news both Robin and Ted are together and happily in love but I can't say the same about Marchall since we see that both Lily and him have broke off the engagement. It's very heartbreaking but makes dramatic sense.

But don't fret people this mystery is far from solved, because this only leaves a lot of questions. For one thing there was that major clue that we heard in one episode, AUNT ROBIN. This could mean only two things to me: 1. The relationship between Ted and Robin doesn't work and may'be Robin and Marchall hook up, and it's Ted and Lily (or someone else) that hook up. 2. Ted is telling the story to Marchall and Lily's kids and Ted and Robin are together making them their aunt and uncle. Who really knows we'll just have to see, but like the mission in "Apocalipse Now" it's not the destination that counts it how you get there that matters.

Ted realizes that he still loves Robin and is going to give it one last big hoorah. He gets a band of blue orchestral instruments to play a song as she enters her appartment with him standing there in a tux. This is a reference to their first date when he stole a blue french horn from the restaurant the were in and gave it to her. But this still isn't enough and now he has to make it rain so Robin wouldn't go on the station camping trip and spend time with Sandy Rivers. So to do this Ted has Barney make a call to an ex that studies Native American history and learns to perform a rain dance. It works and he and Robin finally hook up. As all of this is going on Marshall finds out Lily is having second thoughts about the marriage and have a huge argument that keeps getting delayed due to their "Pause" function they have during fights. The episode leaves on a huge twist with a happy Ted returning to the apartment to find a soaked and saddned Marshall sitting on the steps holding Lily's engagment ring.

So ive never really watched much of this show before, other than a few minutes here and there. But i found myself watching this epsiode and was very impressed... firstly because they played Bloc Party, the best band ever and played their best song, but the show completely suprised me at end, i never expected a twist like that from the parts of the show i had seen so far, so this episode has made me a fan, i will watch this show from now on, especially if they keep making quality episodes like this and continue with the quality music, really really good episode, very emotional!!
  • Amazing and shocking finale.

This episode is the sixth series classic. That is a unprecedented number of near-flawless episodes for just a debut season. One really interesting thing is that Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel stars Alexis Denisof and Amy Acker both guest star in this installment. Alyson Hannigan has guest starred on both series and is married to Alexis. For fans of Buffyverse, this episode is a must-see as it is one of the most unique on-screen reunions in TV history. About this episode, it is everything you could expect and then more. Ted makes his move on Robin and is shot down, but somehow fate brings them together in the end. But one happy ending leads to a sad one as Marshall and Lily break up. This episode is not the funniest, but it is dramatically the most effective episode to date. Highly recommended.
  • Brilliant! Eye-catching episode with great touch to relations..

Ted as well as Robin wanted each other but there was series of unfortunates. Ted decided to make a last attempt and he took Robin's spare key from Lily and filled her flat with roses and then he took a string-quartet of blue instruments like he gave Robin a blue horn which he had stolen from the bistro where they have first had dinner. But she was confused and returned this "last attempt" of Ted. At that instance "Swarley" :) took the lead as he recalled that girl who knows rain-dancing, Penelope. Ted learnt rain-dancing to mess Robin's weekend trip with Sandy Rivers, the paper reader. Finally Ted got what he wanted, the trip was canceled and he rushed into Robin's. They had this conversation and hugged at Robin's door. That a was well created and romantic scene making a good season finale. But that was not all. There is a Marshall and Lily part, which turned in to sadness as Marshall learnt that Lily didn't want to marry that early and received invite from the summer program, they had a quarrel and broke up. The most dramatic scene of the whole show was the moment that happy Ted found Marshall sitting on the stairs, broken-up with ring in his hand.

It is a good end though, both happiness and sadness.. I really enjoy watching every second.
  • Ted makes a last attempt (actually 2) to get Robin to give him a chance, while Marshall is upset that Lily tried out for a summer fellowship in San Francisco.

    "Superb"
A little slow moving at the begining. I was expecting a lot of craziness, but it was all saved for the end. Ted's flowers and blue symphony were beyond sweet, and it drove me crazy that Robin didnt see it that way. Instead Robin had actually agreed to go with Sandy on a date (eww). Ted used a friend of Barneys to do a rain dance to rain out Robin's camping trip, therefore wiping out the date. After some ridiculous dance moves which should have been funnier, but werent so much, it started raining. And Ted finally got Robin to see the light. Dudem took her long enough! Meanwhile Lily and Marshall are fighting. I understand that she wants to live her life, but she definitely should have told Marshall. AND she leaves him in the end. We dont know if its forever or for the summer... or.. what. But definitely thats whats going to keep us waiting until the season premiere.
  • We think we know what\'s going to happen, but the creators throw us a curveball...!

In this episode, the creators do a fantastic job of distracting the viewers with the whole Ted & Robin issue that you don\'t see the ending coming until it smacks you in the face. I watch this show with a close friend of mine, and as the episode went into it\'s final few seconds my friend let out a *gasp* and an \"oh no...\". That showed me really how powerful this show has become. They have written really well and engaging characters that you really care about, and hate to see bad thing happen to. However, a show can\'t be without consequences, and this season finale certainly shows one of them in a surprise twist ending. enjoy!
  • Not the funniest episode, but one of the best.

I was saying just the other day that Marshall and Lily are my favorite couple on TV. So why did I love the episode where they break off their engagement? It\'s because, unlike almost every other breakup on TV, it was for an understandable reason, and done in a mature and heartbreaking way. And probably also because I still think marriage is in their future. They need to not be under so much pressure right now, but once that\'s gone I think they\'ll be able to figure out what they want and work things out so that they end up together.

And after all the frustrations with Robin and Ted all year, it was such a relief to see them finally happy at the same time. Whether it lasts or not.

Plus, Alexis Denisof made his ridiculously smarmy character come off as actually sweet and likeable this week, and I LOVED IT. Actually, it just occurred to me when I typed that that his character is leaving the show, which is incredibly sad. Please let him come back to the screen soon. No more two-year breaks between jobs.

Amy Acker was cute, although I was glad her character wasn\'t used more. That whole subplot was a little silly, but the show has had plenty of awesome jokes in the past, and I would much rather a joke or two fall flat than an episode lack emotional resonance. This episode certainly did not do the latter.

I only wish it were a one-hour show so we could have seen more. But maybe we saw all we needed to see.

Marshall who played on \"Freaks and Geeks\" and Lily who played on American Pie, Date Movie, etc...and everyone else is just awesome. The endning was sad but perfect. It was unexpected. This was a funny episode yet there was a sad side to it.

Ted has finally got the girl he wants most but now Marshall and Lilly broke up and the wedding's off.

This episode was well written and Ted really gave it all.

Especially when he started doing the rain dance for hours. That was funny.

I was also happy to hear that How I met your Mother will be returning for a second season.

I think that in the next season Ted and Robin will have try to get Marshall and Lilly back together. Also I don't think that Robin is the mother, even if they are great together. It was allready said in the first episode that Robin wasn't there mother but their aunt robin.

But I guess we'll have to see and find out next season or maybe ven the third.

I'm glad that CBS has renewed "How I Met Your Mother" now we get to find out the conclusion of Marshall/Lily and see the further adventures of these New Yorkers.

What a great show and it ended with a great episode. The Lily arc started a few episodes prior talking about how she felt like she missed out with her interest in art. It was well constructed and didn't feel tacked on.

Ted/Robin have finally hooked up again, but that poses the wonderful question. At the end of one of the episodes, Older Ted announces that she's Aunt Robin, which makes me believe that their romantic relationship will end or Adult Ted was talking to someone else's kids that think of Ted and Robin as "Uncle" and "Aunt".

Well, that aside--I love this show.

I hope their more episodes like this to come and here hoping season 2 is just as great as season 1
  • What a finale to a great rookie season. This episode is another example of why this show works -- it was fun to watch and everything flowed so well. Most importantly, the comedy and quirks remains original.

What can I say? It was fresh and exciting from start to finish without being boring. And actually, nothing this season has bored me in terms of this show, because everything in it is rather clever.

From having Robin knock on her own door to enter her apartment, to Lily and Marshall's 'Pause/Unpause' fights, there is something I see so clearly every time I watch this show -- originality. I can't say I've watched many 21st century sitcoms and found this same writing charisma.

Another gem from the amazing CBS sitcom. I look forward to season two and beyond.
  • Ted decides to give robin one last shot and does things like pull out a string quartet and a raindance. Meanwhile Lily and Marshall are having a second doubts about getting married.

    "Good"
I'll be pretty blunt here, this final episode for the season didnt really do much for me. What i like most about the show is the funky quirky antics that go on and this episode really focused too much on the whole love story kind of thing. I honestly thought that they would leave a better cliff-hanger, because it had been leading up to marshall and lily spliting up or taking a break. The whole Ted and Robin thing is getting old, but that is just my opinion.

However with all that being said, i will still be hanging out for the next season, not to see what happens with Ted and Robin, but see if we actually get any closer to finding out the girl who he ends up marrying
  • What an awsome way to end the season- and a summer is too long to wait! kind of a tear jerker at the end. Bloc Party "this modern love" such a great song for a rainy day.

When i saw marshall sitting on the stoop with Lily's ring, my eyes were watering, but i'm sure next season will solve all of their problems, and the gang will re-unite again. And the producers couldnt have picked a better song to end the season.. every great finale has a great song to go along with it. This sappy episode even turned my husband romantic, and it wont be erased from my TIVO anytime soon. I hope they play all the re-runs this summer because i cant wait until the show is on again... This is my new favorite Sitcom.
  • Ted decides to make one last go at getting Robin with a romantic gesture that brings the first time hey professed his love full circle. Meanwhile with Lily and Marshall\'s wedding only a few months away Lily\'s second thoughts threaten to end it all.

I thought this episode was great. There wasn\'t as much humor in this episiode (or at least of the usual caliber) but that\'s because as a season finale this was more of a plot advancement. Still for fans of the show the story took a very giant but bittersweet leap forward.
  • A bitter sweet end to great Season 1 filled with strong emotions, great writing, awesome acting and treasured funny moments. And of course, with a biting cliffhanger which will make this summer a bit too long.

I came across How I Met Your mother show only as I was curious about Alyson Hannigan in her post-Buffy era. The pilot was all I needed to know that i found a gem. Absolutely awesome series to which i grew attached with every episode. Being the same age as Ted makes you savor HIMYM so much... You feel for and with the characters and while watching, you relive your relations and funny moments in them.

Today is a sad day for me. Waiting till fall for series 2 will be painful as I got addicted to the show and I fear Lilly may vanish from the series. But overall, the guys making this show do an extraordinary job. No wonder that at our office in every hour you can hear at least two quotes from How I Met Your Mother. It sounds sometimes like a secret code.

While the most funny were episodes Game Night and Mary the Paralegal for me, this season’s finale was emotional and well balanced. 10/10 for me and Come on, give us Second season ASAP! (or at least season 1 with some nice extras on DVD)

Bottom-line: I apologise for all grammatical, stylistic, factual and other mistakes I made in this review. My knowledge of English language is limited as well as my IQ level.

Talk about the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows. I cannot believe what happened here.

After seeing previews and reading things, I knew what was going to happen, and just saw no possible way that this could top the Jim & Pam kiss from \"The Office\" - not only did this beat it, this was quite possibly the most direct and to the point episode of any tv show I\'ve ever seen.

Lily is still thinking about her internship/fellowship as she had been in the previous episode, but up until this point had still successfully kept it from Marshall.

At the same time, Ted is intent at making one last push towards winning Robin\'s heart.

    Robin and Ted

Ted\'s idea is that he was going to have a string quartet (using blue instruments of course) and roses awaiting Robin in her apartment when she gets home from work. Robin is impressed with his gesture and effort but after a talk, Ted forces Robin to make a decision and she says a very tearful no.

That last attempt was not enough in Ted\'s eyes and he decided to make (another) last attempt. Robin was going on a camping trip with Sandy Rivers that weekend and Ted was intent on stopping it.

Ted convinces Barney to enlist the aid of one of Barney\'s old flings, a girl who studied Native American history, to have her do a rain dance.

The rain dance worked, and the camping trip was called off. Ted then ventured to Robin\'s apartment and this time, Ted was successful. Their kiss was just awesome! They end up together following that night.

    Marshall and Lily

Due to an answering machine message, Marshall finds out that Lily was accepted to an art fellowship in San Francisco.

The obvious fight ensues when Marshall becomes worried that the fellowship and Lily\'s career may take priority to their relationship. In addition, Marshall realizes that doing that fellowship would then cause them to delay their upcoming wedding.

After a lengthy discussion and argument a decision was made...

Ted comes home from Robin\'s the next morning to find Marshall sitting on the front steps, in the pouring down rain, with Lily\'s engagement ring in his hands...

  • Special indeed...

Such a great show and as soon as that song came on I just smiled because it was perfect. The song is called \"This Modern Love\" by Bloc Party, you can find it off the album Silent Alarm.

Such a great season ending to such a great show that I hope sticks around for many seasons to come! Having personally gone through all those emotions Ted has gone through this season (what guy hasn\'t?), it\'s really been great to watch and this episode was perfect! It had everything you would come to expect from regularly watching this show this past season and I can\'t wait until the summer is over!
  • This episode gives us three roads that most of guys have been down: getting the girl you\'ve been after forever, the perfect one you have to let go of, and settling for miss right now thanks NPH. does anyone know the song played during the rain storm?

    "Perfect"
This episode at times was painful to watch. Anyone who has navigated through life in their 20s and 30s has starred in this movie before and that\'s the hook. The cast and writing really shine in this one; we know where it\'s heading and it goes there, because in reality the relationship perils in this episode can\'t really be avoided. Props to the writers for recognizing that and giving it to us. The plotline surrounding Lily and Marshall ( if you haven\'t done so pick up Freaks and Geeks on DVD for some of Jason Segal\'s best work) has the the right balance of humour and earnestness that allows it to come off without looking like too much of a predictable device. Marshall on the steps was tough to watch but again it was done right. How perfect was that song at the end. ( again I need to find out what it was ...help!) Let\'s not forget Barney providing what he does every show: callous, uncaring wit and sarcasm, but we know what\'s underneath still. I wonder if this episode was written as an out for Alyson Hannigan who likley has many opportunities to choose from. I hope not because I want to see a long distance relationship work for once; even if it is fictional.
  • Amy Acker, Rain Dance, String Quartet, Alexis Denisof, Red Lobster... what a combination.

This was an Excellent Season Finale which left me as it should, wanting more. Episode begins with Ted coming up with a way to win Robyns heart with a grand romantic gesture. Ted goes to robyn's apartment and hires a quartet with blue strings instrunments to play in Robyns apartment when she comes in. Robyn comes home and Ted tells her he needs an answer, are they together or not? She declines and is going on a date with Sandy(Alexis Denisof[Wesley of Buffy and Angel]) on the weekend during the company camping trip which was cancelled due to rain but then was uncancelled. Ted refuses to give up and realizes the only way to stop her from going is to make it rain so the trip is re-cancelled. He finds one of Barney's ex-girlfriends (Amy Acker[Fred of Angel]) who studies Native Cultures and teaches Ted how to do A Rain Dance. Ted continues on his roof for hours right down to half an hour before Robyn leaves to be with Sandy.
