  • Ted Meets Victoria

    9.0
    "Superb"
Another wonderful episode. I loved that this kind of a part 2 episode but not really a part 2 episode. Like in the previous episode you would appreciate when you watch Season 7. Also like the previous episode, The Pineapple I also loved how the story was told in small parts. Despite Robin starting to develop feelings again for Ted, I think it's interesting that she didn't say anything to Ted. It also shows that she is not really the mother. (Yes, I know said this I will try to stop)
Victoria is a great women. Like Robin she made a very good first impression. I like something about the mystery with her at the start. Their "date" was very sweet. Other good things I like are Barney's trick on the bridesmaid, and Marshall wanting to know who made the cake (nice that it was Victoria)
The ending could go down to a classic How I Met Your Mother moment.
  • Ted meets the woman of his life but doesn't even know her last name.

Ted meets who he finds out is Victoria at Stuart & Claudia's wedding. However, they don't reveal anything else. Ted tells the others about this woman who he shared the perfect night with. They didn't kiss, share last names or occupations, just hung out. It is clear Ted wants to know more by the end of that night and Mashall, Lily and Barney agree. He must find this woman! He tries to get help from Claire but she is defiant until Stuart gives her something to drink. Robin, although she has realized her feelings for Ted, contributes as well because she knows how to find her. Victoria baked the cake! She works at a bakery called Buttercup Bakery and when Ted races in and Victoria turns and spots him, they run and kiss as she is glad he found him, too. To date, Victoria was my favorite girlfriend of Ted's. I'd wish she'd somehow divorce her current husband she met in Germany and turn out to be the mother, but that's unlikely. Still, great episode and I'm glad Ted finally found Victoria.

In this episode Ted tries to track down a girl he me at a wedding all he knows about her is her first name, Victoria, as they had decided never to see each other again after the wedding. Meanwhile Marshall tries to find out where the wedding cake came from so he can get some more. The two mysteries end up linking together when it is revealed that Victoria was the one who made the cake.

I have to say that I loved the part near the beginning of this episode when Marshall is complaining that Ted should have found out Victoria's last name he makes his point using the wedding cake as a metaphor he describes it as the best cake of his life. Ted makes a Joke saying "that cake really got to you huh" Marshall replies "it haunts me" then they both laugh. I couldn't help but smile at how natural there laugh was This moment to me just symbolized the amazing chemistry that the actors share I watch it and I can believe they could be real people going through real problems together I love this show by far one of my all time favourites.

I can\'t stand Robin & I think Ted is a very likable guy so I was so glad to see him find a good girl & it was great for Robin to be put into her place! She could\'ve been w/Ted for all this time but she was too high & mighty to date him. Well, well, well, how the mighty has fallen! I hope that things work out w/Ted & Victoria. Their kiss at the end reminded me of when Ross & Rachel first kissed so long ago on \"Friends.\" This show is no \"Friends\" by any means but it\'s got some good potential. Way to go, Ted!

"Drumroll, Please" is one of my favourite episodes from season 1 of How I Met Your Mother. This episode introduces the character Victoria and she's one of my favourite girlfriend's of Ted. I love how Ted flirts with Victoria at the wedding and she doesn't believe in hooking up at wedding because romantic feelings are heighten at weddings and feelings could change after the wedding. Anyways, I love how Ted tries to find Victoria, only to find out that Robin knows her. It turns out that Robin came to the wedding late, but saw Ted with Victoria, and went into the bathroom crying. Then, Victoria comes into the bathroom and comforts her. I give this episode a 10/10.

At a wedding, there's instant attraction between Ted and a woman. Both agree to preserve the evening in memory by not exchanging names or numbers, but Ted falls too hard to let it go and tries to find out her identity. I love the start, especially when Barney is making such a big lie so he can get laid. I love the way Marshall is with his kiddy but funny ways. I love the whole storyline with Ted and the women, it's amazing all the way through with the drumroll and stuff. I love the way the cake got to Marshall. I love the way Barney comes over and is just Awesome. I love the way Lily, Marshall and Ted, great scene. I love the phone conversation with Ted and Claudia. I love the way Marshall is saying the women is a ghost, I love him. I love the phone conversation with Ted and Barney and then the bar scene talking about Teds new wanting. I love the scene when Ted knows her shoes and Barney is still on the phone, I'm in love with Barney he is so hot with his lies and hotness. I love the way Robin gets all upset, when she finds Ted and that other women. I love the way Lily has a go at Robin and Ted, legendary. I love Robin the way Robin . I love the way Barney gets paid for sex, hilarious. I love the way she made the cake, I love the way Marshall is about the whole cake again. SUIT UP, hilarious, I have missed Barney saying that! I love cab scene. I love the scene where Ted and the other women are dancing, cute. I love the ending.
  • This episode is the epitome of How I Met Your Mother

This is a classic episode. It has everything that an episode of How I Met Your Mother should have. We have a cute little Ted "mystery" about who the mysterious girl he met at a wedding is. We have Barney being, well, Barney. We have Marshall and Lily supporting Ted in the couple-way that they do and we have Robin coming to terms with her feelings for Ted.

The way this episode was done was masterful, the flashbacks and forwards were well done and never confusing and the girl who played Victoria (who's name is escaping me) was just perfect. And the denouement when we discover who Victoria is was executed so well. This was a fantastic episode, one of my favorites in the series.
  • Im Happy !! This episode really made me happy .. Its a feel good Episode of How I Met Your Mother !! I really do like the new character shes lovely !! Not quit a Spoiler Down..

Wow ! I really really loved this episode its the best episode of How I Met Your Mother, Its not that funny but its in the ramace side of the whole series it really adds something to the series.. I mean how Robin acted upon the Tedd/Victoria situation Wow .. I mean its one of those episodes where you want to smile and feeling sorry but happy .. I like that feeling not many shows makes me feel this way..I really liked Victoria ! But still doubt her being \"There Mother\" I haven\'t seen the rest of the episodes yet but I choose to review this one because it really \"Captivated\" me !
  • Not just a pivotal series episode, but one of the best-written sitcom episodes, period.

It must be hard for writers to come with new twists on the romantic-comedy formula, but \"Drumroll, Please\" is an original. Ted and Victoria play out the old \"love at first sight\" scenario, but are doggedly determined NOT to fall in love. Their observations on the absurdities of dating in the modern world will ring true for anyone who\'s ever felt like going against the grain. They just want to spend ONE perfect evening together...and they do.

It must be equally difficult to create on-screen chemistry with someone you don\'t really know, and the actors pull this off eloquently as well. I BELIEVED every line, and was hoping against hope that their romance WOULD continue.

Beyond that, you also get Barney hitting on bridesmaids and Lily obsessing about her own wedding. It's a classic!
  • Like you are watching a mini-movie! Spectacular!

Okay, they only have like 25 min. to to tell a story. That is like 1/3 of a movie. And yet this episode is like the best romantic comedy i've seen in years! such a great show! well done!! today so many shows are just about sex and i have to say that i really found it to be romantic. we've all gotten so jaded but this episode was about pure old fashioned "courting". and i really liked the small slices that we got from each character. such a great cast they have assembled!
  • A solid episode, recommended.

There is no denying that at this point of the series, How I Met Your Mother is on a roll. Consistency prevails yet again in this installment of the rookie series. This episode contains a lot of progress for Ted and we are introduced to another potential "mother". They do not exchange any information about themselves at the wedding and Ted panics as he thinks he may never see her again. This is not really the funniest episode, but it shows how the series has many different things working for it. Not only does it have the ability to make you laugh, it also has some well written dramatic arcs. Recommended.
  • This is my personal favorite.

I love Victoria. I think what victoria and ted did was very romantic even if it was stupid in the man's point of view but maybe a wonderful night for the lady. I think when you something like that, it really takes the idea of anything else and leave the getting to know the person.
  • One of the most memorable, amazing, and eventful episodes to date.

Not many times a show can pull off the "cliffhanger"'s result. HIMYM proved everyone wrong. A decent cliffhanger in the last episode opened up this wonderfully written episode. The girl that Ted met at the wedding turns in to a huge adventure. Her name is Victoria, she has a rule: She doesn't hook up at weddings. So before she resumes with talking to Ted, she lays down a bit of ground rules. They can never see each other again. Of course, they have the best night ever, and they don't even kiss. They only have the moment before the kiss: the drum roll. Of course the day after, Ted has a problem with not ever seeing her again, of course. While he's trying to find out who she is through Claudia & Stuart. It is revealed that after Robin's news anchor, she came down to the wedding only to find Victoria & Ted together. She then realizes she has feelings for Ted when she cries in the bathroom. Talk about eventful. Victoria meets Robin, and it turns out Robin is the only one that knows who Victoria is. She races to Ted to tell him something, she doesn't know what. Is it that she has feelings for him, or the identity of Victoria. The suspense is killing you at this point. Then Marshall asks about the cake since it was delicious, and Ted manages to ask Claudia & Stuart. They got it from Buttercup bakery. Bam! What a shocker! Buttercup was the pseudonym that Victoria used. She wasn't on the guest list 'cause she made the cake. Looks like Robin was too late. He then runs to the bakery. He sees Victoria, and the episode ends in a kiss. An episode that really owned up to it's cliffhanger, which isn't common in most shows. I enjoyed this episode immensely, the writing, the editing and finally the acting was incredible. Like a mini-movie.
  • Eyes lock between Ted and another wedding guest, Victoria, and the two show instant attraction and chemistry with each other, but the two do not reveal anything more than first names. The next day, Ted sets out to find the mystery woman.

I'm writing this review after watching this episode for the third time (and counting) and while listening to "You Don't Know Me", the song played towards the end when Ted and his mystery woman Victoria dance together. Needless to say, my heart is warm and a-flutter. "Drumroll Please" is one of my favorite HIMYM episodes. Heck, it's one of my favorite television episodes! The array of emotions I felt in those 27 minutes were greater than I would have experienced in a 2-hour movie: I laughed at Ted and Victoria's repartees, I sympathized with Robin as she realized her feelings for Ted, I nearly teared up as Ted grabbed his chest when he opened his eyes to see that Victoria had left, and I rooted for him on his quest to find out Victoria's identity. But I'm a thrill-of-the-chase kind of girl, which is probably how I got suckered into this episode so easily.

While dateless at a friend's wedding, Ted catches sight of one of the guests, who also smiles back at him. The two are clearly attracted to each other, but the girl, who later reveals herself to be Victoria, warns Ted that she does not "hook up at weddings." The two agree to hang out for the rest of the night, but they cannot exchange last names or contact information and they cannot kiss, so as to keep the night sacred and kept as only a memory, unadulterated by the complications of a relationship.

The events of the night are presented in flashbacks as Ted tells his story to Marshall and Lily the following morning. Ted and Victoria steal the bouquet, Ted holds her shoes as she does a cartwheel in the hall, they share an intimate "almost kiss" at the piano, and the two dance in the empty ballroom before Victoria discreetly leaves Ted alone and heartbroken.

Ted realizes that he does not want to just have a memory of that night, so he sets out to look for her. After calling the bride, who insists no "Victoria" was on the guest list, Ted is distraught and hopeless.

Meanwhile, Lily tells Robin every detail of Ted's story about his mystery woman. Robin then reveals that she had talked to Victoria in the bathroom at the reception and she might have feelings for Ted.

Just when Robin, goaded by Lily, is about to tell Ted how she feels, Ted indirectly finds out that Victoria made the wedding cake and that she works at Buttercup Bakery. Robin, seeing Ted's excitement, decides to not tell Ted. After some hesitation, Ted finally goes into the bakery, and Victoria, upon seeing Ted, sighs, "Oh thank God!" And the two passionately kiss for the first time.

This was yet another brilliant episode, and I really loved every minute of it! It was very funny, and they combined a great storyline with great humour, which is a very difficult thing to try to do!

I really liked the idea of not exchanging numbers, but it was a little weird, and it clearly didn't work at all. Very disappointing idea for them!

I liked the funny hmoments in the episode, and particularly Marshall's obsession with the wedding cake! Really great!

Keep it up, How I Met Your Mother, as this first season has been really successful, and I have really loved watching it! Great work, and keep it up!
  • With every new episode I like this show more and more, they better release a DVD box set!

    "Perfect"
This show is awesome because it moves away from the general sitcom POV, and manages to create a much more captivating "world" for the viewer with its freedom to move to a new setting every episode. This is paralleled with great writing, from the episodic story to the ingenius one-liners from all of the characters. Can't wait to see what happens next!
  • A splendid episode, usual great comedy but also nice romance! SPOILER ALERT

    9.4
    "Superb"
This is really a splendid episode, i was thinking whether choosing a different classification (namely "Exactly why i watch this show"), since the plot of the episode gives the authors the opportunity to exploit completely Barney's comedic potential (the scene at the wedding where Ted and Victoria decide to mantain the secret on their names is hilarious!), but also utilize every other feature that makes this show so great: Marshall's naivety, Robin's "arrogance" but also her kindness. This is probably the most romantic episode so far, and the final scene where Ted at last finds Victoria and kiss her in the bakery enters ex officio in the top 10 of most beautiful love scenes in my opinion.

But then let me say, i think (or mostly hope) Victoria isn't the kids mother!

This show is perfect! The perfect blend of funny and sweet. So much heart and the best stuff that the ladies have gotten. Who knew how great Cobie Smulders was! As talented as she is beautiful!! The crying in the bathroom killed me! And how cute is that Ashley Williams is great! I hope she comes back. Thank you for such a great episode!
  • The best episode to see with that special someone.

    10
    "Perfect"
Now I usually call myself a classic romantic, but this episode kicked my behind. This is the one tv show episode, of just about any show in history, to watch with that special someone if you want to just lay back and cuddle, or do something else, for the rest of the night, day, or whenever you watch it. BTW, you should really watch the two episode just before this one, to get an extra added kick to it, The Limo and The Wedding. Happy trails. :) One more thing, don't miss any more episodes, 'cause this show rocks.
  • The episode where ted finds a beautiful stranger at the wedding but doesn\'t know who she is.

    "Superb"
This episode was amazing. Barney made me laugh so damn much! And the plot was great because I was so happy for Ted. lol. It was the first episode I had ever seen of How I met your Mother and I loved it and will be watching it from now on! Good job. I also loved the song Spit on a Stranger by Pavenment. Perfect way to end the show with a good song, I approve. Please keep making your show as hilarious as this one and still have a good message and a cute subplot. I enjoyed it so much!
  • What will Happen Well I know what I think.

I think that Ted should fall in love with Lily.

You think I am wrong but when it happen.s you Will not be laughingl. If that fails They should have Ted fall in love with Lily. Robin should date one of the other anchors and Ted and Marshall will fall in sweet Love
  • The best episode of the show so far.

    10
    "Perfect"
Everything about this episode was perfect. The actors have all hit their strides. The storylines have fulfilled the promise of the pilot. The dialogue was sharp and snappy. Barney was hilarious. The just-wed guest stars from the last episode are priceless. The plot was romantic and heart tugging and charming and funny. Ashley Williams should turn out to be the mother of the title but it\\\'s probably too early in the show\\\'s run for that to happen. The ending with the look and the embrace was note perfect and it was fantastic that the moment was allowed to play without the usual voiceover. Absolutely best of the bunch, so far!
  • Robin finally sees that she's in love with Ted, but Ted is fallen in love with Victoria. Everything a story needs is given - and the story is great! I enjoyed it.

The wedding is over and Ted is fallen in love again. This time to the really sweat buttercup! And so things don’t get less interesting, Robin realizes that she also loves Ted! Wow! That will be some serious love triangle! But I’m not sure if Ted ever will think about Robin when things work out with Victoria.

This episode was more than ever made out of flashbacks. I missed the kids, but that’s just some detail!

The things between Victoria and Ted were almost heartbreaking! I mean when they really want to kiss, but they both agreed not to and stop in the absolute last moment, or when she just leaves the wedding while Ted closes his eyes, both knowing it was a perfect evening.

I really liked it when they kissed at the end. By the way the daughter really looks like Victoria (even much more than Robin), so we could have a winner…

Lily is so funny again, when she talks to Robin about Ted or about her stomach. So nice!

Barney – I don’t know what to say. He’s happy that he got paid for sex (well not directly but his words!). He’s proud to be some prostitute! Sometimes I could hit that guy, but still he’s so hilarious!

We didn’t get much to see about Robin (well we now know she loves Ted) and Marshall, but that doesn’t make this episode less enjoyable. Even I’m like the Marshall/Lily interaction most!

We’re left with some nice fantasies about Ted/Victoria, but still are pleased about the Robin/Ted fact. It’s really hard to wait for next week.

Ted is not having a good time at the wedding, no robin no fun. lily and marshall are having a good time, which is mainly caused by the weddingcake.

then he spots a girl, she spots him, they make a pact not to tell eachother their names to preserve the "perfect evening"

they steal champagne (and the brides bouquet) play the piano, tapdance and linger without kissing

anyway as you would expect the next day he is sorry he does not her name.

Ted tries everything, even going as far as calling the happy couple on their honeymoon, but they tell him sorry no guest named victoria

we then learn that robin did show up, and that robin ended up in the bathroom crying because she does have feelings for ted after all

the thing is while she was there she met victoria and she knows who she is.

before she can either tell ted about her feelings, the bride calls back to tell ted that while there was no guest named victoria, the girl that made the cake is named victoria.

So ted goes, fretts a bit about the perfect day, finaly he goes in and they kiss

    ahhhh
  • How people don't like this show is beyond me? I'm totally hooked! I'm not quite sure where things are going here. It seems as if Victoria may indeed be "the one" but I'm left thinking it may not be.

Ted lets Robin go to work and goes stag to the wedding, pt. 2.

After meeting Victoria and having such a great evening with this mysterious girl, Ted goes on a mission to find her.

The best comedic moment in this episode (minus the normal Barney "suit up") was Ted calling the once-crazed Bride to find out who the mystery guest was. I loved Claudia's rant to Ted about "You almost broke up our wedding for this...and now have moved on."

I'm not quite sure where things are going here. It seems as if Victoria may indeed be "the one" but I'm left thinking it may not be.

It is far too early to reveal something so crucial to the hook of the show.

Sure, she has an appeal that catches any male and the charm to add to a love story to appeal to any female. As perfect as things seem between Ted and Victoria, I'm not sure if it's too early to write out Robin, which was such a focal point of the first few episodes.

It was a great great episode!

Question: does anyone have a blog or message board devoted to HIMYM?
  • Ted tells about his night at the wedding and the girl he meets. Then he decides to actually hunt her down and see her again even though all he has is her name and what her shoes looked like.

I absolutely loved this episode. In my opinion this is my favorite, along with "The Pineapple Incident". The twists and turns and how the mentioning of cake in the first scene all tie together to create such a great story. And the tension at the end of the episode just as he has his fight or flight moment was pure excellency. This episode is why we love Ted and cake. The women were beautiful and it's good to see Barney finally succeed at what he does best. Robin finally reveals something important but now it's at the most inopportune time. She becomes an emotional martyr and it's why the drama in this show works so well along the comedy. 10/10 for this episode.

This was such a great episode, and it was so well writen. This episode would of been a great season ender just because it was a cliff hanger and a bit of a tease. It leaves us wondering if ted and "Buttercup" really kiss or was it just his imagination, and if they do kiss will they hook up. Now if they do hook up will this be the end of the show, or will they take off in a new direction and he has a "Wife" now and now he will talk about the adventures, or they can take it on how ted messes this up also and the show contiunes.

I can't wait till next weeks episode.

    "Quote Nevermore"
  • Pretty good, but predictable. The chick side of me likes where the story is going, but I wanna base my entire life's philosophy on the teachings of Barney. If anyone ever doubted Neil Patrick Harris' ability to shake the "Doogie" monniker, they need to

The whole wedding thing going into this episode was a good hook seeing that they played a rerun in between weeks. However, I think this one was cute and does well to bring in the female audience that will eventually leave at 9:00 ;-). I think Ashley Williams is the ultimate "It-Girl" for any guy with a heterosexual pulse. She was the "It-Girl" in "Good Morning, Miami" as well. I was more than happy to see her again.

Barney's presence wasn't crucial, but VERY welcome. Preach on with the "suit up!" callback.

I don't know why (at point for writing) people have put this as a 6.7 episode. From top to bottom, this is a very funny, well written and well acted show. I am praying it gets picked up for next season. All the actors are perfect for their parts, the show is written differently then any other, with it being all flash-backs. So come on people start watching and understand where it's all coming from.

Last night was great with the Ted meeting that girl, she wanted the night to be perfect with no names, numbers, kissing, or anything. It was great. Then to have him meet her again at the very end was awesome. I just hope the writers keep up there excellent writing for the next few shows.

This episode is so good in so many ways. Like all episodes it is filled with humor, and heart. But the way the story unfolded was so great. The whol episode you are not only wondering if this is the one,but will Robin tell Ted how she really feels, and will Ted go find this mystery woman from the wedding? For a second at the end there I really thought that he wouldn't go inside to the bakery, and when he did, it was such a great moment. I also love the way the whole episdoe connected. At the begining Ted is talking about how he must find this girl, while Lilly and Marshall have to find the baker who baked the awesome cake at the wedding. While they may seem to just be a joke, it all comes around when the woman Ted was looking for turned out to be the woman who made the cake. I loved it.
