I didn't watch it. I watched Alcatraz instead, because I just don't like Chris Elliott.
So, how was it? Other than Chris Elliott (because he's automatically a turn off for me.)

I can't say it was THAT bad. There have been a handful of worse episodes but this was still a little low on the scale for me.
We saw the return of stripper Lily which was awful. Ted and Barney weren't great. Stuff with Robin and Kevin was
Marshall and Lily and her Dad. I knew they'd ruin the nice moment between them from the last episode. He's just unpleasant in this episode and acts like a creepy child. And I'm sorry Kat (well I'm sorry for everyone who will continue watching HIMYM really)... it looks like there are more appearances of him yet to come with a few lines that suggest that he's living with them for a while.
Honestly I think there was a good idea buried in there somewhere, unfortunately you never see a lot of it. I like this idea of Mickey teaching them the ins and outs of the house and I think a nice touch could have included him baby proofing the place but it doesn't happen like that.
Now I'm a sucker for stories of parent and child reconciliation and reunions. Not all of them end up good but usually it will get my attention, I like to see how the story plays out and affects everyone concerned and I will give it more attention and try to enjoy them more than I should. So you have to fail pretty badly for me to think that it sucks and dislike it this much. I think a lot of my disdain comes from the end of Tailgate being brilliant but the aftermath of that ends up being this rubbish.
Also, for the 150th episode this was remarkably unspectacular. I know 50 episode milestones aren't given a lot of attention but after you hit 100 each additional 50 is pretty impressive if you ask me. You should do something there to celebrate it.
Honestly I think it was the funniest episode of the season. It was the 150th episode too.
There was some really funny new intros to the show:
Russian Gang intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtAogFfnBpc
How I Met Your Barney intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7yHBdxvVtk
Overall it was a pretty funny episode. I don't think that Marshall and Lily are going to last very long out in Long Island.
Agreed. People expect every episode now to have some amazing plot element revealed or they say its crappy. some episodes are just stand alone funny. A lot of this episode felt more like the old himym, they had relationship chicken, the new intros. The marshal/lily parts were eh, but overall I think this was the funniest episode in awhile.
Maybe I'll check it out today. Fast forward over the Chris Elliott stuff (sorry, but he gives me the creeps), and watch the other plot(s).

HIMYM is suffering from Homerization and 33itis. Homerization is when characters becomeparodies of themselves. If you watch the original Simpsons, Homer was just an average Jo living an average life andhilarity ensues like it does on normal sitcoms. However, because people liked when Homer was moronic that just became his defining personality. Homer went from being an average middle class father dealing with somewhat real life situations to a moronic buffoon who shouldn't be able to function in society. Bond went through the same transformations as well. Bond went from movies about a super spy that did awesome things and had cool gadgets to movies about cool gadgets that Bond used to do awesome things. I think it happens when a show or movie idea gets to a certain point. I mean the same thing happened to Friends, Scrubs, etc... In HIMYM all the characters are pretty much running jokes of their original character ideas
Ted: LOOK IT"S TED HE CAN"T FIND LOVE ISN"T THAT FUNNY AHAHAHAHA. The writers even reference this in the show
Barney: LOOK BARNEY DOES CRAZY STUFF TO SLEEP WITH WOMEN AHAHAHAHAAHHA. The writers have been fixing the problems with Barney recently
Lily: LOOK AT ME IM THE EVIL MASTER MIND SEX CRAZY WIFE!!!
Marshal: LOOK AT ME IM SO SMALL TOWN!!! This one isn't as bad as the others if you don't Marshal being Marshal
Robin: The writers have actually done a decent job of not making her a parody of herself. Granted there is the whole Canadian thing, and trying to make it as a reporter thing and the daddy issues, but she isn't focused as much.
33itis is a reference to BSG first episode after the mini. Many of the writers and audience believe that 33 was probably the best episode in the entire 4 seasons and BSG kind of spent the rest of the series trying to be as good but never quite making it. The first season of HIMYM was just amazing, but when you start off that good, you really have no where to go but down.
I'll agree to the above, with an exception: Robin has been a parody of herself. I miss the old, strong, Robin.
I'm sorry, but I gave up watching this episode after 15 minutes. The best part was the "How I Met Your Barney," but then the second time was just overkill. And why have Stripper!Lily there at all? If you have her, couldn't she have been dating someone who looked like Marshall to really nail the joke? Otherwise, what was the point?
Kevin and Robin were fine in this episode. I like Kal Penn. But since I know that Kevin isn't going to be staying that much longer, I don't really care about their trials and tribulations.

| i agree that not every episode needs to have this amazing plot, and that stand alone epi's are important for the show. but this to me felt like 6th graders wrote the script, dirty and corny. i remember watching the 'swarley' episode of season 2. That was stand alone funny episode, but much better than this episode. I don't know, maybe it's just me. |
Bad example of a stand alone episode; Swarley is an awesome episode but I don't consider it a stand alone because Marshall and Lily getting back together is a pretty big event.
As for this episode, the end was nice. That whole booth thing. Easily my favorite part. I got chuckle here and there but overall this was really bad. I won't go into details, because I'm not in the mood to really bash something.
