  • Ted buys a house.

    9.0
    "Superb"

"Home Wreckers" is a great How I Met Your Mother episode. I actually enjoyed Ted's mother and boyfriend getting married and it upsetting Ted because you don't really get to see too much of his home life. I did think it was unrealistic when he goes to apologize for leaving in the middle of the wedding but Clint and his mom are high. I did enjoy Ted buying the house, the same house that's in the future where his wife and kids live. I love how the gang smashes the house and I love how Ted decides to fix up the house. I love how the plot Barney catching Robin crying, but it was really Robin catching Barney crying and it goes back and forth. I give this episode a 9/10.

  • The writers of the horrendous "monkey episode" strike again.

    "Terrible"
I cannot express strongly enough how this episode, clearly written by the same writers as the previous "monkey robbery or not" writers, is destroying 5 seasons of faithful watching of this show. The endless repetition of already pretty lame jokes ("oh it was robin crying. oh no it was barney. oh no it was robin") are unbearable. Whatever happened? Are they going out of their way to ensure we stop watching the show? Three times my husband said "please let's stop watching, I can't bear it anymore". I persevered as there was a slither of a story line I didn't want to miss. Come on, enough is enough, back to some decent substance and decent comedy, or have the guts to call it quits.
  • Ted's mother gets re-married.

    6.7

In this episode, we get something that finally connects with the future. You know the house Ted lives in, in the future with his kids? In this episode, he gets that house. Which made the rating of this episode that much higher considering that eventful occurrence, Ted's mother gets re-married which makes Ted reach an epiphany. Since his wife isn't here yet, why not buy his own place before he gets a wife? It makes sense, but the only problem is that the place is a big mess. It reminded me of "Dowistrepla" kind of, Marshall's biggest mistake was buying that apartment, and so is Ted's in this episode. I love how everyone came together to destroy the house in the end with the hammers and axes. The inspector was laughable, not that funny but laughable. Barney crying when Clint's song cam on, eh, I didn't like the idea of Barney going second base with Ted's mother. Isn't that the second bro code he's broken? Ted's mom gets married to Clint, her long term boyfriend, Ted's mother doesn't do much for me. Same in "Brunch", I wouldn't be missing much if she wasn't there. It was a nice housewarming from Marshall in the end, and it's nice to know that were one step closer to finding the mother since Ted already has the future place they're going to live in. Good concept, eventful, not really entertaining, but an okay episode overall.
  • Finally, a proper coming back to its roots after weeks of torture.

Glad that the show has finally come back with a proper episode after the past weeks of meaningless filler episodes. True, the mother is not yet in the picture but this episode retains most of the features that made the show popular. The references to the past, the silly yet amusing games they make up, the subtle hints at how things in focus may be slightly askew, makes you yearn for more. One failing that most episodes have had, in recent memory, was the lack of charm in repeat viewing. Im happy to say that i picked up on more of what old Ted was saying the second time around and all the subtle hints of how things played out were laid out for us to find yet we did not pay attention. The episode retains the charm of its earlier days and may be one of the best of the season. One good thing was that every character had a good role in the episode. Barney was his usual overly narcissistic self, Robin her semi-apathetic self and Ted the archetype single man without a future in sight. But I particularly loved Marshall here, how he always supports Ted and how in sync he and Lily are.

Overall, I'd say give a miss to most of the season, but don't miss this. A gem amongst stones.
  • The best episode of the season

I found this episode very funny and well written! yes it had a little flows but we moved a lot! now we know where they live and how they got that house! and Ted - marshall dialog was really nice :) I hope they continue in this direction! But barney part was a bit irretating... like kissing best friends mother... it sounds really wrong... but I still think it was funny :) but the thing they came up with in the end of the episode was great I think! it was like a step up! I really want to see mother faster... Ted already has house... so mother is next!
  • One thing I must say is that this episode is one of the best of the season.

I am writing my first episode review for this episode because of the horrible review that is currently on here . Now, I am an avid fan of how i met your mother, and Have been watching and rewatching this show like my life depended on it. The episodes of this season have been okay and rocky for the past few episodes.

I find this episode to be the one that brings them back to where they need to be. Not only was the comedy hilarious for this episode with the inclusion of the "Was I A Kid Or Drunk" Game, but the story was constant.

The other thing I noticed was the fact that it truly felt like they were friends again playing the game and trying to get Ted to realize that he had made a major mistake.

To end it all off it is good to see that Ted's story is moving forward. I hope that the episodes that are still to come start to get even better than this one, and that the creators of the show, even though they have another show in the works, know that this show still needs to live up to what we've seen in previous seasons.
  • Yet another solid episode, however...

...I have to say that Ted's storyline has not really moved that much. Ted finding his perfect house only provides more room for putting off him meeting the Mother.

I am one of those who is in favor of the show ending with Ted finding the Mother. I don't really want to see them date, I don't think the show can benefit from it. However, because the show was renewed for one more season, and as far as I remember the creators were actually making plans for there to be 7 seasons, that means we will get another season, and possibly two, of something else and not Ted finding the Mother. What we need to see is Ted in a serious relationship, with hints that she could or could not be the Mother. Meaning, I would have preferred Ted shacking up with someone at his mother's wedding than him getting a house. As far as this episode is concerned, it's a good one, and it brought the camaraderie of the group back. The talk between Marshal and Ted at the end is just priceless. Drunk or Kid game was an excellent excuse to see Marshal goofing around, and who can claim not to love that. Barney, Robin and Lily were in the background, which is OK... Whether I believe the house to be a step forward for Ted or not, I hope the writers treat it as such, and finally give that man a break. And a girlfriend!
  • Quite a funny one! An even t that actually has a role in the grand scheme of things of "How I Met Your Mother".

This was definitely a good episode! I thought it was funny that Ted just bought a house randomly, and that turned out to be the dream house that he would be living in!

I really loved the inspector guy, particularly when he went through his massive list of problems with the ohuse! That was funny!

I thoug t that it was definitely a worthwhile episode, whereas some this season jutst haven't been. Really found it to be veyry funny!

I'd highly recommend this one. Marshall's game of "Kid or Drunk" Was also very funny, and this episode actually serves a prurpse in the main storyline!

Keep it up, How I Met Your Mother! Lovely!
