This episode is great, it probably one of my favorate episodes of the show. What I love is the fact that this is one soullly on a character we have little knowledge about, which is something I don't feel is done enough on TV, it's sort of the notion on that character we would sometimes see in the background or someone the main characters might have bumped into and you've always wonder who he or she is and what are they thinking in that moment.

I really like how the episode interweaves the mom and Ted and his friends, just seeing it is fun and at the same time a little sad because I can help but think if Ted or the Mom looked at each other or just stayed for one more minute at that moment in time, they really would of got together sooner. But also these near misses proves why both are destined for one another as if some higher force thoughout their lives had a grand design for them.

But most importantly this episodes provides us more depth and gives us a better feel for the Mom character. We can easily see both Ted and the Mom are the same, split right down to the center.

I really love how just like with Ted she's kinda a geek she loves sci-fi, has plenty of hobbies, talents, isn't boringas well as a quarky sensibility about her. Like the robot painting of robots bowling which we see and I thought it was good and it seems like she could of been on to a cult trend when we here she was going to follow it up with a robot olympics; she should of soild those paintings I would like to see those in an art gallery.

However we also feel a great sense of pathos for her and the reason as to why both Ted and the Mom couldn't get together just yet. We then discover she lost someone she deeply loved which really sucks. And she's been on a personal journey to let Max go and find a way to move on. Sure I know it too a long while, but most of the time it does personally I don't believe time heals all wounds, it's a matter of whether the person wants to be healed but most importantly what he or she want with their life right now.

She has had a relationship with someone but in one scene where she puts on her quarky humor again by making a puppet out of an English muffin, her significant other didn't laugh or get in on the joke. Even though it's a little moment it's a big sign that can say a lot about a relationship and it's saying that theres no love. Which is why I'm glad she made the right decision with him near the end which was saying no, to stay in a loveless relationship would be a lie, let alone makes no sense.

But there were two moments that I thought were really touching, the moment she was looking up in the sky and talking to Max saying good bye, you can see from her emotion it wasn't easy for her, it never is but in order to move on and have love in your life again it's something you have to do. I'll admit it really put a tear or two in my eye. But also the final moment when the mom sings a song which I thought was really touching but what made it more touching was the fact it was the first time Ted ever heard that song from her, let alone she's a room away.

Sometimes the one, can be a lot closer than you think.

  • Finally..

    9.0
At last major plot movement... finally feeling the near end of one of my favorite shows... it was heart warming how we get to look back at the previous episodes and how they tie back on how ted met the love of his life... i hope every episode after this we get to have the same level of awesomeness up until the series finale...
  • La Vie en Rose

It felt rushed and more than a bit soapy, but my eyes were definitely wet by the end. I think it's a bit of overkill to have her proposed to right before she meets Ted, because now he really has to do something to wow her to push her past Max. And at this point, I don't have a clue what he's going to do (beyond being Ted). It was a good episode, but for how important the character is and how critical it is that the audience falls in love with her with Ted, I don't know if this fit the bill.moreless
