  • How I met your mother

    7.0
I absolutely love this show, but it 5/6 years in the last 2 episodes???!! They could have done a 10th season. I Don't have any problem how it ended they just cramed everything in.
  • Still devastated & fooled by creators

    1.0
How i met your mother has changed my life. I love (and i use present tense because i cant watch the last episode which makes what i'm about to say still true) how Ted never gave up. He was a believer in love, in faith. Ted believed in destiny. He may become frazzled at times when his relationships would fail & fail time after time, however, he still searched for his other half because he KNEW she was out there. Instead, Ted turns into a baby that runs back to his past. The ending makes his 9 years of pain, a lifetime of pain. Or so you would he seems to build up 9 years worth of great memories to his children only to ask if theyre okay with him dating their aunt robin??? After he just spent 9 years telling them why they SHOULD NOT And CHOSE NOT to be together. The kids who lost their mother and are evidently "being punished" to hear the story, are now relieved that Ted wants to date their aunt robin? Does that make any sense to anyone? For the people who love the finale, and say "well sometimes thats just life" well how realistic is it that children would ever be okay with the fact that their father wasted their time, and his, explaining in excrutiating details all the times their aunt robin hurt him? And that they would be ANGRY to hear the story about how their father & deceased mother met, BUT be relieved and practically giddy when Ted tells them the story he told was actually just to ask for permission to date their aunt. In Ted's story, their mother becomes a stranger and robin is highlighted as the actual love of Ted's life, and the mother is just the one who birthed them. Thats not realistic at all. "How i met your seregate mother" or "How i met your step-mom" would have been a better title. Literally the ending undo's everything. I loved the mother, i thought she was a great fit. But during the 9th season, she was way too much of a perfect fit, it took away the suspense. If the mother would have been someone like Victoria, it would have made a lot more sense, then just a random person that they created just before the 9th season started. It sounds as though Ted just wanted to have children before he settled down with Robin, who couldnt have kids.

As for anyone who says Ted and Robin are great together, i really just want to scream at the top of my lungs. They are not good together, in fact the creators dupe us into believing for 9 years that they are the worst fit on the planet Earth. In the 9th season, Ted LITERALLLYYY lets go of Robin as she flies off away into the oblivion. Ted and Robin are more than opposites. They are friends, best friends even. A mere brother and sister, actually. The first few seasons, sure they were cute and all, but Ted deserved better. Ted had his whole life figured out by the age of 20 and Robin was careless and had no time clock. She was all about her job and Ted wanted love and a family. How is that a perfect match? If two people WANT different things in life then thats not "opposites attracting". "Opposites attracting" is when two people LIKE different things, such as music or cuisine. Not one wanting marriage and a bunch of babies and the other one wanting no babies & no marriage. Them ending up together is unrealistic and lazy. I would have been MORE than pleased with the finale if the series had only lasted 3 or 4 seasons, however by the 9th, it completely RUINS the characters change and the most realistic thing a person does which is grow up. I am devastated that Ted and Robin end up together. Devastated. And i feel fooled as a a dedicated viewer.

As for Barney! My favorite character, ugh how i love Barney. I was so beyond happy for Barney when he took a change for the better in the 7th season with Nora. He finally realizes that love can happen for him. And as a viewer, you believe that he can do it. Barneys character is great because the first few seasons you can count on him to be young and witty and just out to get girls but there comes an age where it becomes gross and a bit pediphile-like. And the creators did a great job ruining Barneys character to become creepy, and pedophole-like as a 40 year old, in a bar, still using tactics to pick up women. AFTER HE THREW AWAY THE PLAYBOOK and then handed it off to a few YOUNG bachelors and you become so happy for him and proud. But, unrealistically, he reveals that the playbook is actually still there and he never got rid of Barney a gross liar. He spent all these years growing and you begin to trust him and . Gone. Im not even gonna comment on the fact that he had a child with "31" just... Appauling. Absolutely appauling. When he had a perfect week in a previous season, it was funny. It was gross-funny because it was Barney and he was allowed. But by the time hes old and been through a he goes a perfect month well thats just gross. and the fact that he feels whole again after he gets the one thing that Robin could never give him? Wrong. Just so wrong.

The creators wrote this ending if the series would abruptly end after the first few this was not the you enjoyed the finale then you should watch seasons 1-4 and theeen skip right to the finale and it should make better sense since everything that happens in the kiddle virtually does not matter. I will never watch the finale again and as for me, i stop watching at "the end of the aisle" and make my own and robin stay married, robin doesnt regress into her 1st and 2nd season self and she continues to put love before work, and her and barney adopt a child, since she is grown and can handle it. And ted and the mother live happily ever after. And if you dont agree that this is realistic well then i dont care because TV comedy shows are meant to expand the realm of reality. How i met your mother taught me a lot. And thats what HIMYM will always do for me.moreless
  • Couldn't Imagine A better Ending .. I wish it lasted forever

    10
I loved the end .. The story never was about the mother we only got to know her over the last season .. We knew that she will die from season 8 when Ted asked for the extra 45 days .. And even this season it was clear that she was about to die and she told him ( life only moves forward) 9*19 He loved her that much he loved her even more than he loved Robin but she's dead and the lesson of (life goes on) is essential to HIMYM and when u think about it that's reality and not a fairy tale & the reason why the series started with ted meeting robin because of the ending .. Its not what we expected and I love that, for me knowing how it will end is a negative to any show .. Moreover when u put 8 years vs 1 year u would know that the reason for the story is bigger than just meeting the mother & has a purpose .. In my opinion i loved the story of How ted met the mother ( and their love story ) but I loved the before & after part more .. I recall saying to my friends i wish he never meet the mother which means I cared about the show running before (the mother meeting) big time that made me forget about whats next and i love that it became a full circle and it went beyond expected .. Lastly and more importantly I loved seeing that everything that ted did for robin made a difference and they weren't a waste ( even if it was 17 years late) when Victoria said " I really hope u get her someday" 8*05 well someday is our finale in 2030 .. When u keep in mind that the children last scene was shot along with the first season u would realize it all was designed to end up in this scene and it shouldn't conflicts with the fact that the mother is the love of ted's life .. it doesn't change any of what the show accomplished in the past years or dismiss it but it gives us a taste of reality other than being a romantic comedy and the fact that maybe there isn't only one love in a life time but different types of love that get to be challenged by life and what happens in it .. HIMYM keep on giving life lessons of which that we learn that life goes on Winking face

why not being real and showing us what could happen when life strike because lets face it that's reality and things like this happen all the time .. And HIMYM showed us the beauty of story telling that carried more than what we know from the beginning .. I never thought that I would love the mother and be convinced that she is the one but I DID .. And i love the writers for that and love them more for showing us that even if we lost the one we obtain the maturity to understand that life goes on and you never know what the future is hiding .. I just couldn't imagine a better ending

I encourage those who don't know what they feels to read more reviews and make up their mind after considering it happened 16 years later to the mother meeting and just right after that and what happen in 9 years had to change with 16 years .. only it was told in 2 episodes that made it seems to close ..

I do believe that the mother was ted's soul mate and the love of his life .. but life goes on and these things happen .. I'm so glad that all the things ted did for robin didn't go to waste after all ..

the writers show us how ted met the mother and some glimpses to their lives and they went beyond that to reality and what happen after that .. brilliant Twist and End

I believe also that the sad Feeling that we're having isn't about how the show ends .. but because this BRILLIANT AWESOME show came to its END ..

  • You've just got to ask: what was the point?

    6.0
I've come to really hate TV shows that end up taking me for a ride, but then go nowhere. We spent 22 episodes of season 9, that is pretty much a whole season, on the build up to the Robin-Barney wedding, only to have the marriage be over in about 10 minutes during the last double episode. It turns out that I invested all this time for nothing.

So, you've just got to ask: what was the point?

Similarly, we spent 8 previous seasons, that is 8 YEARS, to find out how Ted met his kids' mother, only to have her killed off in the last episode, and swing full circle back to the setup of season 1. I invested 8 years, 9 years including this last one.

So, you've just got to ask: what was the point?

What was the point of having the characters unchanging, basically the same continuously over the course of nine years, showing no real growth, development, or maturity, only to cram about 2 decades of their lives in one finale double episode, where this growth finally takes place? (Except, in a way, for Ted, who goes back to the Ted of Season 1, 20-something years later).

The kids say to Ted something like, "Why did you tell us this long, often irrelevant story, about how you met Mum, when she was hardly in it?" In other words, they ask, "Why have you been stringing us along?'

This is the question. This is the question we've got to ask the writers and producers; why have you been string us along for nine years, telling us that the premise of the show was one thing, and it turns out it really wasn't?

To anyone in my future who asks me, "Should I buy the 9 season DVD box set of How I met Your Mother, I've never seen it?", my reply would be, "Save your money, buy season 1 only, watch it, and when you realise that things don't work out between Ted and Robin, just imagine them 20 years in the future in the same situation, but more mature, wiser and experienced. That is them in the last 5 minutes of the very last episode of season 9. How do you think it'll turnout then?"

"So," they'll just got to ask, "what was the point of seasons 2 to 9?"

    "None," I'd have to reply.moreless

    • Barney: So Marshall, how's your job going?
Marshall: My chair is reasonable comfortable for short periods of time.
Lily: Marshall has decided to say only positive things about being back in corporate law.
      Robin: So you hate it?
Marshall: Much of what I do does not make me cry.
Lily: But the job's only temporary. Marshall was offered the judgeship once and he turned it down for me, so karmically, that phone has to ring again.
Marshall: And even if it doesn't, today when my boss threw his egg sandwich at my face, some of it got into my mouth. It was tasty.

    • Lily: So here's the deal with the deal. Robin's my new best friend. Nobody bang her.
Ted: Hey, hey, hey, she only rejected me three times. She's still very much in play.
Lily: I'm serious. There's only one way I'd let either of you have sex with her. (Barney gasps) Not that. It's never that. I really want this girl to stay a part of our lives. So the only way you're allowed to hook up with her is if you marry her.
