How I Met Your Mother

Stella is mad that her sister is getting married before she is. Stella is stealing all of her wedding ideas including getting married at Shelter Island at sunset.

There is a flashback to Stella's sister explaining how she wants her wedding dinner and she puts down Ted because he wants to order lamb, and she is a vegan because of her fiancé.

Ted decides that this is an all out war and that they need to have an amazing wedding. Stella slightly wishes that her sisters wedding would fall apart too.

The episode flashes again to a dinner scene, and this time, Stella's sister is explaining how much she hates her finance because he left her for another girl. She is going to lose thousands of dollars as a result. Stella tells Ted that they should get married that Sunday instead and he starts to freak out.

Ted tells his kids that morals usually come at the end of the story but since this one is too important, he tells them "Don't ever bring an ex to a wedding." He admits that it might have changed everything.

Ted calls up Robin in Japan to tells her to make it to the wedding. Robin decides to go and quits her job since she doesn't like it anyways.

Lily is amazed that Barney is going along with the whole marriage thing. He tells her that the reason is because Robin will be drunk and nostalgic at Ted's wedding, giving him the opportunity to sleep with her.

Marshall, Lily, and Barney arrive at the yogi retreat where Ted and Stella are getting married. The retreat does not have alcohol and Barney is unsure of how he is going to end up getting Robin to sleep with him.

Ted shows up and is already having a problem. Stella is mad because his ex, Robin is going to be there. Stella says that bringing exes around brings out unresolved feelings. Ted tells her that they should invite Stella's ex Tony too. She freaks out because Tony is the last person she wants to see at her wedding.

Ted makes Lily decide whether Robin should come to the wedding or not. Lily at first says yes, but then changes her mind because it is not right for the bride.

Barney says he will tell Robin about the bad news and he calls her when she is just about ready to leave for the airport. Barney doesn't end up telling her that she should not come and she gets on her flight.

At the non-alcoholic bar, Stella's sister starts to flirt with Barney. She wants to have sex with him in order to forget all the negative things that happened with her wedding.

Ted convinces Tony to let him take Lucy to the wedding. Tony starts crying because he realizes how much he had and what his life could be like. He feels like he is losing everything and he was not even invited to the wedding. Ted feels bad so he invites Tony and all three of them drive to Shelter Island together.

Ted shows up with Lucy and Tony. Stella is upset about this and gets more upset when Robin arrives.
She says that she will talk to Robin and Ted can talk to Tony. Ted tells his kids that if he had not done this, things would have turned out differently. Ted suggests that since Robin came all the way from Japan, he should talk to her.

Robin understands when Ted tells her she can't stay for the wedding. They have only been broken up for a year and she felt weird about being there. Robin confesses that she quit her job because she wanted to come back to her real life. She thinks he should do the same thing. She says that he should not marry Stella and that it isn't like him to go into someone elses wedding, home, and life.

He tells Robin he loves Stella and since Robin feels the way she feels, it is a probably a good thing that she is not coming to the wedding.

Robin gets upset and goes to Barney's room. She asks Barney if she can stay with him since she has no room. There's already a naked girl in his bed so Robin leaves. Then Stella's sister shows up to have sex with him and sees the other girl in Barney's room - the front desk girl. She decides to join in anyways.

As Robin is on the ferry back to Manhattan, she sees Stella and Tony. The episode flashes to Ted reading a note that Stella left him and Stella and Tony kiss.
