"The Naked Man" kicks off with Ted describing how he got over Stella: He sees a woman in an elevator and they have an immediate connection. They say hello, she tells Ted her name (Vicky) and Ted scores a date.
That afternoon, Ted comes home to find Mitch, Robin's date, sitting on the couch - in the nude. Ted assumes he walked in on Robin and Mitch getting it on and turns around and leaves. Outside, he finds Robin on the phone, gets confused, and heads back upstairs to find out what's up with Mitch. Mitch tells him he's pulling out his last-chance-at-sex move, dubbed "The Naked Man." Mitch presents himself naked to his date when he knows the relationship is going nowhere and he probably won't get another date. He says it works two out of three times just because the women get curious. Ted then meets the gang at the bar and tells them about "the Naked Man" move.
Later, Robin admits that she did indeed sleep with Mitch. Marshall says Robin only did it because Mitch was already naked and proclaims she was wrong to do it because the only reason to have sex is love. Lily disagrees and claims to be able to name 50 other reasons to have sex. Barney says he will test out "the Naked Man" and urges Ted to try it out on Vicky. Ted refuses to try because he doesn't want to mess up his chances at a good relationship. Barney picks up a blond at the bar and leaves.
And the games begin: Robin sets out to prove she's not a slut; she fails when Mitch catches on to her plan. Ted wants to prove he doesn't need "the Naked Man" to get a woman to sleep with him; but he finds out Vicky is a terrible person and decides to go for it. Barney sets out to prove the move works. And Lily tries to prove there are 50 reasons other than love to have sex. She can't think of them without Marshall's help, but manages to successfully uses "the Naked Man" on Marshall.
Back at the bar, they toast Mitch for giving them "the Naked Man."
