How I Met Your Mother

CBS (ended 2014)

  • Season 9 Episode 21: Gary Blauman

  • Continuity: In the season 3 episode "Chain of screaming" Barney says that Gary Blauman is dead.

  • Season 9 Episode 20: Daisy

  • Lily incorrectly states that a child born outside of the United States to American parents could not run for President.  Although the Constitution states that a president must be a "natural born citizen," it never defines that term.  In fact, numerous court cases have allowed presidential candidates that were not born in the US but had American parents.  The latest of which was John McCain, who ran (unsuccessfully) in 2008.  McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone.

  • Season 9 Episode 13: Bass Player Wanted

  • When Marshall is about to slap Barney, Barney says, "Oh, God, it's the fourth slap! Why do I have to be so obnoxious?" Actually, this slap would be the seventh slap; Marshall administered the fourth slap in the episode "Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap." In the episode "Disaster Averted," Marshall and Lily renegotiated the Slap Bet conditions, adding 3 additional slaps (giving Marshall 8 in total) in exchange for allowing Barney to remove The Ducky Tie before he met his girlfriend's parents; Marshall immediately used two, and Lily announced, "Two slaps remaining." To date, Marshall has not used any more slaps, so he still has two left and this one would be the seventh, not fourth.

  • Season 9 Episode 8: The Lighthouse

  • At the end of the episode, Ted from 2030 (Bob Sagat) tells his children he proposed to his wife at the lighthouse two years after Robin and Barney's wedding, which would be around May or June 2015. However, in the episode "Trilogy Time," when Marshall, Ted, and Barney are shown watching Star Wars in 2015, Ted is shown holding his infant daughter already, raising the question: did Ted propose after the baby was born, or should Ted have said he proposed in 2014?

  • Season 9 Episode 1: The Locket

  • In the flashback scene where James is singing at a wedding, Robin refers to the song as "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers, but he is actually singing "Islands in the Stream" feat Dolly Parton.

  • When Marshall's mom connects to the internet, the dial-up noise is heard over the phone. If she was using dial-up, she and Marshall would not have been able to continue talking on the same phone line.
