  • Season 3 Episode 4: Little Boys

  • Doug, who is a student in Lily's class, was the same kid who blackmailed Marshall in "Monday Night Football". However, because he was in kindergarten last season, he should be in the 1st grade in this episode and, therefore, not in Lily's class again.

  • Season 3 Episode 3: Third Wheel

  • In "The Pineapple Incident" Ted said he left Trudy a message, and she never called him back. However, in this episode Ted says he wishes he had called her.

  • The "Belt" is a replica of the WWF Championship belt from the Attitude Era.

  • Season 3 Episode 2: We're Not From Here

  • The framed newspaper article in Marshall's office in the year 2029 reads: "N.Y.C lawyer captures 'Nessy'." The Nessy reference is a nod to Marshall's belief in the Loch Ness monster.

  • This episode was previously titled "New Jersey".

  • Season 3 Episode 1: Wait For It...

  • When Ted goes to Robin's apartment to "yell irrationally," Robin points out that Ted shaved, and she actually seems surprised about it, however in the scene where she asks Ted if he was okay with her being with Gael, Ted had already shaved.

  • In the scene where Ted and Barney are in the hot tub, after Barney drinks from the bottle, the lid reappears as he hands it to Amy.

  • is a real web site. The countdown concludes November 19th, 7:27pm EST

  • Season 2 Episode 22: Something Blue

  • Robin doesn't like kids, and that even was the reason she and Ted broke up. Yet she walks off to dance with the little boy at the end of the episode.

  • When the proposal takes place, the bride-to-be has her left hand over her mouth the whole time, therefore the groom-to-be must have placed the ring on her right finger.

  • The proposal in the restaurant was authentic. Tim Russo asked one of the writer's assistants if he could visit and propose to Jana Rugan on the HIMYM set, who then asked Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. They accepted.

To keep Jana unaware, the first few takes had a different person announcing it was his ring; after a code phrase, Tim stood up and announced it was his, and then proposed to Jana. Jana's acceptance had to be dubbed in post-production due to her being overcome with emotion at being asked.

  • In Single Stamina, Ted and Robin are shown dancing together, despite the fact that the scene takes place after this episode (as indicated by Marshall referring to Lily as his wife) and therefore are broken up.

The scene from Single Stamina was written to be vague enough that they could either be together (as judged from the dancing) or broken up (as the point behind the episode is that couples don't stay out late, and Ted and Robin stayed out post-Marshall and Lily).

  • Season 2 Episode 21: Something Borrowed

  • In the beginning of this episode we see the gang talking about Marshall and Lily's wedding eight months ago. Then they were actually broken up, getting back together in November in the episode "Swarley" and getting married in May. That's only a total of six months.

  • When Marshall and Lily are contemplating where to have sex for the first time as a married couple (the reception hall bathroom), it is once again a place where Ted is present. This is similar to the episode "First Time in New York," in which there is a recap to Ted being awake for Marshall and Lily losing their virginity.

  • Ted: (to Barney) Unless you actually have one in your car, stop suggesting Native American headdress.

In season 2's "Arrivederci, Fiero," Barney does not have a license let alone a car since he has taken subways and taxis his whole life.

  • Season 2 Episode 20: Showdown

  • Goof: After Lily and Marshall decide to spend the last two weeks before their wedding apart he gets up to go get a beer but a couple of frames before he took a drink from his beer and you can see that the bottle is almost full.

  • When Barney hits 100 on the Big Wheel, he wins $1,000 and a Bonus Spin (as per the rules), however the bonus spin is not depicted in the episode.

  • Marshall says that his mother wouldn't like him eating junk food; however, in "Belly Full of Turkey" Marshall's mom gives Lily a recipe for a salad that contains, among other things, gummy bears, Funyuns, and potato chips.

  • Season 2 Episode 19: Bachelor Party

  • Goof: In this episode, there's a flashback of Barney flying to San Francisco to convince Lily to get back together with Marshall, remarking that he can't keep stealing Marshall's dates forever. However, at the time Barney was stealing Marshall's dates ("The Scorpion and the Toad"), Lily was back in NYC already.

  • When Robin tries to "communicate" with Lily by attempting to read each others' minds, we see this effort fail completely. However, this isn't the first episode in which such an attempt is made. In the first-season episode Mary the Paralegal, we see the "famous telepathic conversations" between Lily and Marshall, as well as Marshall and Ted.
