  • Robin becomes a "Woo Girl".

    9.0
    "Superb"

"Woooo!" is such a fun How I Met Your Mother episode. In this episode, Robin doesn't want to hang out with Lily because Marshall is always there. I love how Lily invites Robin to a party in which Lily's friends is a woo "Woo Girl". I love how Robin becomes a "Woo girl" and Lily gets jealous and tries to be a "Woo Girl"' as well. It was kind of sad to see what the Woos really meant. I love how Lily decides to make more time for Robin without Marshall.I didn't really care for Barney hiring Ted, just to fire him, then hire him again. I did like the SVen part, but that was it. I give this episode a 9/10 because I really enjoyed Robin and Lily's plot.

  • Who are you writers, and what have you done with this series?

I first got hooked on How I Met Your Mother because it depicted a place and time realistically, only funnier. The characters were quirky (but not overly so) and not stereotypes, and the stories were original and usually specific to New York. It seemed like a group of twentysomethings might actually have a life like this, and use slang and made-up words in the same way. What I just watched, however, was unrecognizable as an episode of the same series.

By adding unrealistic laugh-grabbing scenes (such as Sven's impossible architectural presentation) and exaggerated dialogue (like any scene with the girls in the bar), the writers have fundamentally changed what the series used to be about, and that is why I'm rapidly losing faith in this show. The laughs and the surprises have been harder to come by lately, and this episode had none of either. One scene-ending joke was actually just a series of rhymes. Can that really be called comedy?

This show is struggling. Halfway through I almost turned it off. But I keep thinking it might improve....
  • The Woo Girls.

    7.0

For some reason, the episodes that have to do with the group's work life don't ever really set well with me. So that's why the rating of the episode is pretty average. Although this episode was pretty eventful in Ted's work life. He gets a chance to design a building that would be part of the New York Skyline; Barney helps him get this opportunity, but also helps him lose it. Barney fell in to the charm of another architectural group: Sven, and Barney sold out Ted just so he can have a dinosaur building, when Marshall finds out, he urges Barney to fix the problem immediately. Meanwhile, Robin feels out of place and always hates it when she never can actually talk to Lilly alone without all the interruptions, including Marshall. So she joins the woo girls. The woo girls are party animals, but by the end, you find out the woo girls are very sad people, and Robin's one of them. Robin is unemployed and single; sometimes you have to woo once in a while when things aren't going so well with your life. Funniest scene is when Lilly & Robin find out what the "Woo's" really mean, and then Ted pops out of nowhere, hilarious. Barney does end up fixing the situation by the end, and Ted ends up getting the job. So a funny B plot, and a not so enjoyable A plot, but it was definitely eventful, which made this episode slightly above average.
  • Sven!

Sven! How cool was Braney playing a Swedish architect. and that sales pitch almost killed me - I was laughing so hard!

Ted finally get a big break. Woo (sarcastic) - like I could possibly care less.

Stinson leads this one manfully with a betrayal and then redemption with his "best friend". Marshall provided top support.

The conference call concept idea was hilarious - and I suspect that it could actually work at a bank these days.

The "Woo" girls got really, really tiresome after the 3rd "woo" - and a lot downhill from there on. Ted as a "woo girl" was fantastic - and beautifully apt.

Barney at the end was also extremely humorous. More more more!
  • Barney gives Ted a chance to build a new HQ while Lilley is shocked to realise that a work friend is a woo girl.

It would seem that almost as every week goes by Barney seems to need to carry most of the laughs in this season. This ep is a prime example but still has enough laughs to keep you tuned in.

Barney decides to give Ted the chance to design the new HQ for Goliath National Bank before selling him out for Sven, a swedish company who design a T-Rex building. With the opportunity to have a T-Rex brain for an office Barney chooses Sven to the great dislike of Marshall.

Meanwhile, Lilley takes Robin to the birthday party of a work friend when they discover she is a woo girl. She's basically a girl that accompanies anything she does with a loud WOO! Things get more uncomfortable when Robin joins the woo girls to the disappointment of Lilley.

This is still a funny ep with plenty of more inside jokes (conference call anyone?) but what it really lacked was a genuine laugh out loud moment rather settling for small chuckle moments. I only hope that the other characters can startto support Barney in the laugh stakes.
  • Robin hangs out with the Woo girls. Ted bags the contract to design GNB's building in downtown NY.

I will definitely put this one in the bag of the few decently made episodes of this season. With good performances from all, the show has finally gained some of its lost respect.

Here we have two parallel storyline. One is Lily trying to be a part of the woo-girls gang, but finds herself miles away in terms of attitude. Two, Barney helps Ted bag the contract to design Goliath's national bank's new building. The Sven brothers storyline was outrageously funny, with their fire breathing dinosaur design, which cause Barney to vote against Ted. The scenes where a text appears to denote what the character was thinking was a nice idea. Though a similar one was used in one of the older episode (remember the crazy-hot graph that Barney plots in the air?)

There were a few let down moments, but overall a nice installment.
  • Lily and Robin's friendship is strained by Robin's current state, and joins a group of girls and Lily does not fit in. Ted competes to design a building for GNB, but Barney's ego looses him the job, Marshal steps in to show the meaning of friendship

I love how Goliath National Bank is surviving the current financial crisis, and builiding a downtown office. Well it is GNB with their Freedom Charges, so somehow they survive. Especially with Eriksen and Stintson taking conference calls on the roof with the pigeons.

That being said this was another great installment. I also have to give props to Jamie-Lynn Sigler, she has been out there proving her acting chops not playing her stereotypical mob boss's daughter from the great state of NJ who hates everything about her privileged life. I think she might do well with her own series, after playing last night's Jillian, the leader of the Wooo Girls, she proved that she has a lot to offer. I thought she was great, because she played the character so seriously which is what made it funny, I totally believed her performance.

It was interesting to have Robin finally address that her best girlfriend is married, Robin has been leaning more towards girly things ever since she told the gang about her father, then last week with the sock. I think she is starting to change her ways, is it possible a reunion with Ted is on the way.

Ted designed his second building, his first one in New York, NY, not York, ND. I actually preferred it to the one that they have designed for the Freedom Tower. The collective of Sven's was hilarious they were like Barney's idols, and he could shoot fire from his office, awesome.

Now that we have moved past the Stella drama, it is onward with new and hilarious sotrylines about growing up into a real adult. I thought this was a well-written and acted installment.
  • Only half good

As a HIMYM diehard, I often find myself defending the show during some of it's more lackluster episodes. This episode, however, is without defense in some regard. The plot involving Lily, Robin, and the Woo girls was boring and a little too weird, even given the strange rules this show has created over the years.

The plot with the boys was far better, advancing Ted's story and giving us some hilarious Sven and pigeon moments. It was nice seeing Bilson again, he makes an excellent businessman and the perfect co-worker for Barney. Still, aside from the Dr. Seussian conversations with the ladies, the main plot left a lot to be desired in this episode, and is one of the weaker showings in a good fourth season.
  • Barney chooses a different architect company over Ted; Robin hangs out with "woo girls".

I was actually on the verge of being thoroughly enjoyed with this episode of How I Met Your Mother. Barney, Marshall and even Ted all had some funny lines in the opening minutes but then the Lily storyline kicked in and things took a turn for the worse. Female-centric episodes of How I Met Your Mother are never a good idea, and the concept of a "woo girl" is just really reaching for this program.

There was some really good comedy here such as Barney calling ATM fees "freedom charges" and liking the Swedish dinosaur building, but the stuff with the women forced me to give it a lower rating. Another thing I noticed is that the now obligatory dramatic scenes did not feel as forced as they have in past episodes. They did not get in the way with the comedy either, which should be their goal in the first place.

Overall an okay episode but it had the potential to be a great one if not for Alyson Hannigan.
