    I looked online but couldnt find it. They suggested these websites to look for the answer. Look on them to see guesses. They're not positive answers!!!!!!!

    I FOUND THE ANSWER!!!! It stands for Her Royal Highness backwards this has been bugging me ever since I read this post!

    The title "H.R." is never explained on the show, and many interpreted it as code for "Hand Rolled," with Pufnstuf's title of Mayor also being short for "marijuana." Pufnstuf is green with red hair, just like cannabis buds.

    In an interview with Pufnstuf's creators, Sid and Marty Krofft, they confessed that this is one question they are often asked. Pufnstuf is the Mayor of Living Island, a somewhat regal position so they decided to use the initials of "Royal Highness" and reverse them. Simple as that!
