  • Huckleberry Hound at his finest.

This is the pilot episode of 'Huckleberry Hound' and it just so happens the first episode of the show that I have ever seen. I really didn't know what to expect, I've never really been into old classic cartoons, but I thought I would check it out and I'll tell you, I was not disappointed. It amazes me at how they can fit an entire story in an episode with only 7 minutes to work with. Some of the stuff they put in these episodes are really entertaining, and let us remember that this is 1958, and things weren't as easy as they are now, a cartoon like this nowadays could probably be put together in one day.moreless

  • NOTES (1)

    • The Huckleberry Hound Show premiered in fall of 1958, and originally featured three cartoon segments: one with Huckleberry Hound (all of which are covered in this guide), one with Pixie and Dixie and the final one with Yogi Bear.

The Yogi Bear cartoons proved to be popular enough to be spun off into a separate show, The Yogi Bear Show starting in 1961 (also starring back-up segments featuring Snagglepuss and Yakky Doodle). The Yogi segments from The Huckleberry Hound Show were replaced with Hokey Wolf.
