Huell Howser is the host of "California's Gold," a show in which he travels throughout the Golden State, examining the many features that the state has to offer. He has hosted this show for eighteen seasons now, completing four hundred and forty-three episodes. "California's Gold" visits a variety of California locales, showcasing its historic past, its breathtaking natural resources, and vastly multicultural population. Huell Howser's career in the state began when he moved to Los Angeles in 1981 to work as a reporter for the local CBS network affiliate. In 1987, he was hired by the local PBS network KCET. "California's Gold" continues to run on PBS to this day, along with several spinoff programs also hosted by Howser, such as "California's Golden Parks" and "California's Water." Outside of "California's Gold" and its derivatives, Huell Howser has appeared in only a few media productions, most notably two episodes of the popular animated sitcom "The Simpsons."
