  • Paget Brewster

    Beth

    8.4
Paget Brewster took an auspicious if roundabout path to an acting career. Firstly she sought out fame in New York, where she was the singer for an underground rock band, then later moved to San Francisco where she became a local television personality. From there, she moved to Los Angeles, where she acted in a string of failed pilots, landed a recurring role on NBC's hit sitcom "Friends" and made her starring regular debut on the 1999 CBS series "Love & Money".

Dark-haired and quick witted, with a winning smile and a mischievous allure, Brewster broke through as a talk show host on the aptly named late-night series "The Paget Show", aired on San Francisco's KPIX. Fielding topics that ranged from serious family disputes to drag queen makeovers, she had a likeable, spunky presence and came across well in the genre.

The series was courted by syndication companies, the USA Network and Fox, but despite this interest, and no doubt partly due to the influx of other talkers on the air at the time, "The Paget Show" never lived past its 65 episode KPIX incarnation. Still, her engaging energetic presence opened doors for acting opportunities, and she filmed two failed sitcom pilots for Fox, the music video network-set "MV24" and a zany vehicle for comedian Dana Gould entitled "World on a String". Persevering despite these early disappointments, Brewster landed a role on the popular NBC sitcom "Friends", playing Kathy, a medical assistant/actress who dates hunky but dim Joey, only to fall in love with his sarcastic, self-effacing roommate Chandler.

Brewster appeared on six episodes of the series, significantly raising her profile and lining up more starring roles in failed pilots, including the Fox police series "Ghost Cop" and the CBS detective drama "The Expert". 1998 saw her take on a recurring voice role in the Fox animated adventure adaptation "Godzilla: The Series" and a starring role as a NASA technician in the action packed "Max Q" (ABC), producer Jerry Bruckheimer's misfired TV-movie debut. Brewster struck gold with "Love & Money", a CBS pilot picked up for the 1999 fall season, in which she starred as Allison Conklin, a kindergarten teacher and daughter of privilege who falls for her affluent apartment building's blue-collar superintendent (Brian Van Holt).

With a supporting cast including Swoosie Kurtz as her boozy mother and David Ogden Stiers as her austere father, she made her network television starring debut in good company and considered the series, whether or not it proved a hit, an invaluable learning experience. On the big screen, Brewster starred in the 1998 independent feature "Let's Talk About Sex", as Michelle, an intimacy-wary and controlling single woman who routinely dates much younger men.

Brewster played a fast-talking down-on-her luck actress in Bill Fishman's "Desperate But Not Serious" (lensed 1998), co-starring Christine Taylor and Claudia Schiffer and was later featured in "The Specials" (lensed 1998) as Ms. Indestructible, comprising, along with actors including Rob Lowe and Thomas Haden Church, a group of oddly powered superheroes in this "Mystery Men" (1999) reminiscent comedy.

. Brewster's range of talent is additionally exhibited in her guest appearance in the "George Lopez Show" where her comedic ability was stellar. As of 2008, Paget resides in Los Angeles, California and stars in the television show "Criminal Minds" on CBS.moreless

  • Kimberly Brooks

    Paula Dellahouse

  • Lara Flynn Boyle

    Melody Coatar

    8.7
Boyle's first film role was a bit part in Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986), which earned her a SAG card, though her scene was eliminated from the final cut of the film. She then appeared in Amerika (1987), Poltergeist III (1988) and Dead Poets Society (1989), before landing her first major part, and the role which made her well known, playing Donna Hayward in the critically acclaimed series Twin Peaks. When the series ended in 1991, creator David Lynch produced a movie, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, but - largely due to her rise in fame, and increased film offers - Boyle chose not to return. Moira Kelly took over the role of Donna for the film.

Boyle spent much of the nineties making a name for herself in films with varying degrees of success. Some of her most notable roles were that of the obsessive and accident-prone Stacy in Wayne's World (1992) , the fragile, homeless teen Heather in Where The Day Takes You (1992) , psycho secretary-from-hell Kris Bolin in what was geared to be her breakout success, but ultimately became a box-office bust, The Temp (1993) , the sultry and manipulative Suzanne of Red Rock West (1993) which solidified her status as a premier femme fatale, Alex, the sexually assured drama queen in the cult c Generation X comedy Threesome (1994) and flighty, manically repressed housewife Marianne Byron in Afterglow (1997).

Finally, in 1997, Boyle auditioned for the title role in David E. Kelley's Ally McBeal. Although she lost out to Calista Flockhart, Boyle impressed him enough to create the role of Assistant District Attorney Helen Gamble in his other 1997 series, The Practice specifically for her. She starred on the show until 2003, when - in a dramatic attempt to revamp the show and cut costs - she was unceremoniously dismissed along with most of the other main cast. The role of Helen earned her an Emmy nomination, as well as household fame and several Screen Actors Guild ensemble cast nominations. She also made a crossover appearance in the role of Helen in an episode of Ally McBeal.

In 2002, Boyle played a lead role in the blockbuster film Men in Black II as the villainous alien Serleena. She also guest starred on one of the last episodes of Ally McBeal once again, only this time as Tally Cupp, a completely different role from that which she played before.

Recently, she had a recurring role on several episodes of Huff, playing Melody Coatar, an unstable bipolar manic-depressive .

In 2005, Boyle joined the cast of Las Vegas for a seven episode stint as Monica, a new hotel owner.moreless
