  • I liked this episode, better than number two actually...

...but I'm not certain the FBI 'lady in red' has what it takes to be the woman who gets Chance to leave his DNA behind...

That said, I liked the episode's premise and the execution. And while I think there are still some minor issues to be worked out in the series overall, there is enough stable story line established, the character development is moving nicely, the mystery of Chance's past life is very tantalizing and you can't argue with the action.

And when it rains 'whatever happened to" characters on TV these days, it actually pours with them: enter, for the second time in one week (he was on The Mentalist earlier this week), the one and only Sean Maher (Dr. Simon Tam from Firefly) as the beleaguered brother of the dead 'agent' from Chance's past. 'Chance's' admonition to him to "pick up if I call" may mean a recurring role for Maher as 'Chance's' past is revealed throughout the season. That would be nice. I'm liking the progress of the series and I'm hoping FOX gives "Chance" the chance to go the distance...moreless
  • A former colleague of Chance's dies trying to stop someone from selling government secrets. Chance with a attractive FBI agents help, helps the mans brother and himself as they both have been poisoned into stopping the sale and getting the antidote.moreless

Well, they do seem to be improving the episodes and the characters themselves seem more comfortable. I think the one problem with this episode is we don't really have enough invested in Chance yet to really be on edge about the poisoning. It all seems so very superficial.

On the other hand the development of the FBI Agent Laura played by Courtney Ford might be a brilliant stroke. She adds a little chemistry to the all male testosterone of the cast. The fact that Chance left a fingerprint for her to find on purpose says something at this point. Here's a character that can maybe ruffle Chance's feathers.

The story itself seemed a little flimsy, but so have the ones before this so far. As I stated I like the characters overall, especially Guerrero. His character is solid. Avoiding the gas, using the defibrillator, and finding the antidote. He continues to be a great asset for the team. Not to mention his decoding, analytical and influential work!

Overall a big improvement over the Pilot and a slight improvement over episode two. At this rate we should see a pretty complete, flawless episode by about number six or seven. I think they need to concentrate on giving more substance to the main character and either give him a direct foil (like Sherlock Holmes Moriarty) or a chemistry match from a romantic standpoint like the FBI agent tonight. Either of those would help the episodes a great deal. Thanks for reading...moreless
  • Show seems to be settling in...

This episode was tighter and better than even #2. I'm seeing a more fluid storyline and character development. I sure would like to know the deal with Guerrero though! Regardless the cast continues to shine and the action and adventure sequences are nicely done. I loved the introduction of FBI Agent Barnes and hope we see her again. She might prove to add some history and depth as she possibly (one might expect) delves into Christopher Chance's past. My only real beef with the show at this stage are the title credits and general score of the show. While I love how they look and the animation, the music is dreadfully wrong. I get the feeling they are looking for the days of old with Bond, but they need to update the music to engage TODAY's viewers. Including me!moreless

  • QUOTES (14)

    • Chance: (to Emma) You seem a little sheltered for CIA, plus you don't really fight dirty enough, so I'm guessing FBI?

    • Chance: Now don't take this the wrong way, but I'm having a little bit of a hard time breathing so can you just get off of me, please?

    • Emma: Are you out of your mind? You just compromised my cover and my entire project, and for what, to save your own butt?
Chance: Well, I'm kind of attached to it.

    • Emma: What is the matter with you? The video of this entire thing was stored in there.
Chance: I's got my face in there too. We can't have that floating around. It's bad for business.

    • Emma: How am I going to get in touch with you? You can't just disappear!
Chance: I'm going to have to owe you one.

    • Chance: Do you think I would risk everything for a woman? What am I fourteen?

    • Emma Barnes: There are two things I know to be true. If I were a prostitute, I'd be a damned expensive one. And you are not C.C. Baxter.
Winston: Did the hooker just punch you in the face?
      Chance: I don't think she's a prostitute.

    • Winston: Well, it took you long enough.
Guerrero: Feel free to bring it up at my next performance review.

    • Aaron Cooper: Is that a defibrillator?
Guerrero: Nah. Yeah, sorry. Didn't want to alarm you.
Winston: Maybe we should revisit that idea of getting a doctor.
Guerrero: I've already reached out to the guys I can trust locally. One of them's dead, the other's in prison. Don't worry. You're in good hands.
Aaron Cooper: You're sure you know what you're doing?
Guerrero: You could say I have some experience in this area.

    • Emma Barnes: You're not what I thought you were. Not a Neanderthal. The thing that you pulled with the Bluetooth back there... very impressive.
Chance: I'm so happy that you're impressed.

    • Winston: His heart stopped.
Guerrero: I know. We're gonna start it again.
Winston: The instructions? You were reading the instructions?
Guerrero: They put these things on school buses now. We're not children here. We can figure this thing out.
Winston: You said you were experienced at this kind of thing!
Guerrero: I've had experience putting people in this situation. Not getting them out of it.

    • Winston: (to Chance) Hopefully he's still not holding a grudge after what you did to his boat. And his house. Oh, God, and that poor horse. Well, maybe the horse wasn't your fault.

    • Winston: What about you? You having any luck breaking Danny's code?
Guerrero: It's a simple Beaufort Null Cipher, dude. Piece of cake. What, weren't you ever a Boy Scout?
      Winston: No. Were you?
Guerrero: Order of the Arrow, Troop 237. Do a good turn daily.

    • Emma: Who are you?
Guerrero: No one special. Nice dress.
