The first part of this informative miniseries shows the lives of different characters affected by human trafficking. First, Helena Votrubova, a single mother from Prague who is swept off her feet by Frederick, a man who seems to be the one for Helena. But, when they go away for a vacation, it is revealed that he lures women to be sold to human traffickers. Next, sixteen-year-old Nadia Taganov, a Ukranian who lives with her father Viktor in Kiev. She is lured to leave her father and travel to New York by Sergei Karpovich and his "agency for models." Determined to find his daughter, Viktor gains employment in Karpovich's ring. Then there is Annie Gray, a young girl abducted off the streets of the Philipines. Her mother, Samantha Gray, joins with Ellen Baker to help find Annie. Finally, there is Kate Morozov, a New York policewoman who joins Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to help uncover the mystery of the dead trafficked girls in New York.moreless
