    Hustle Series 5, Episode 1

So folks, what did we think of the first episode of the new series?

I thought it was very well put together (as usual). It reminds me of the very first episode - how Ash and Mickey are starting up a new crew etc. I was glad to find out that Albert is in prison because he is working on a mark (one good enough to go to prison for). I think that the whole 'conning the conmen' idea was a brilliant way of introducing the new characters and building a new crew! I'm not so sure about the new intro though, I think I preferred the old one.

Bill Bailey was of course perfect playing 'Cyclops' the slob (why doesn't that surprise me ). I was disappointed to hear that Eddie's bar had shut down, but became delighted when Mickey and Ash used their money to get it up and running again for Eddie!

No doubt it's different without Danny and Stacey, but I don't feel it's weakened the plot (as least not yet anyway). So far, I think Hustle is just as good without them! I think I'll have to wait and see an episode or two more before I can really assess the new characters!

I can't wait to see next week's episode!

    Thanks,

    Zany

Thought the whole way of introducing matt and kelly was a great way to introduce them and really like them think they will do a great job filling the void left by jaime and marc cant wait for nexted week eps

Indeed brilliant way to introduce the new characters and I gotta say the whole story was well written. And offcourse Mickey... hes the man.

Albert as usual tricky old man! Glad to see Eddie back aswell. If the next 5 episodes are as good as this one im happy for sure.

    Agree mostly with Zany.

I think it'll be tough in the short term and perhaps even long term to replace an actor of Marc Warren's abilities but it's gotten off to a good start...If nothing else, it does show, I believe, that Adrian Lester is the true leading actor for the series.

And again, Hustle has a lot of great elements to it that makes something like Leverage look pedestrian by comparison.

I wonder if Albert is in the can for the long haul and only around for a few eppies or if he's going to return to the crew.

Good to have the series back

It has been implied by Adrian Lester and Robert Glenister in a recent interview, as well as Episode 1 itself, that Albert will not be in prison for this entire series

Season 5 - Episode 1 of 6: "Return of the Prodigal"
    Thursday 8th January 2009

I thought the new season got off to a great start, loved the way Albert had them all fooled. Least I'm still not wasting my time editing the guide at TVRage.com! Love the series, cannot wait for next week!

    I loved the episode because:

    A - I love Hustle

B - I'm glad to see Mickey back

C - Bill Bailey was in it!

    But I found it quite predictable, sadly. I figured out that the two people Mickey and Ash were after, were infact, the new recruits. After that clicked nothing else was really a surprise, the case switch, Mickey and Ash saving them etc. I'm just hoping that this was only because they had to find some way to introduce the new guys and Hustle will be back on form next week! I miss Danny already ; ;

I'm still not completely sure that the old magic will be recaptured, but certainly this episode was much better than anything that was shown last series!

Fabulous to have Adrian Lester back, and Bill Bailey was an added treat! Will he be in further episodes?

Hell yes, the season opener was brilliant, and so was this weeks episode! Hopefully the show will continue with this great momentum!
