  • This is one of my favourite shows, but this 2nd episode failed to live up to the famous recipe. The fellowship is broken.

    3.5
I was excited as hell to get into the series. I liked the first episode, which wasnt the best but was fairly imaginative. This episode however was fully of uncomfortably long irrelevant conversations, dry and mundane delivery, camera shots trying to fill in the gaps and more character concentration than plot. Ok, so there are two new players, but the shows about cons, so lets have more of the cons. Who is this Matt Di Angelo anyway? He is dry and boring as hell. Danny was irritating, but funny on occasions and had some character. Matt is a plank of wood so far.

I just hope this was a one off, and theres much more pace and action next episode.
  • Taking queues from many con movies and possibly con shows, Hustle delivers a twist ending to every plot. Unfortunately, Hustle offers more flash con and twist your head plot than actual substance.

    6.3
For the 4-6 episodes I've watched, Hustle displays a fine-tuned camera work and music to match perfectly to the thrill of watching a con. With all of these ingredients added you'd think this would be the formula for a great show. But the fact of the matter is this formula is tiresome after a while.

Watching 4 episodes of Hustle, one can see that Hustle works much like a con works. Misdirection, slight of hand, and facade are all part of a con and also Hustle and other con movies and con tv shows. Hustle shows you one scene but later tells you what really happened. For movies and one time ventures this sauve misdirection works but for a tv series that uses the same formula over and over it makes any each additional episode that much more predictable or tiring. Through each viewing its readily apparent that most of the episodes are the same. The plots may change from show to show but intuitively all the episodes seem the same. However boring the show may be the one aspect of the show that makes a little more annoying that it is its own creative mystique. The actors sauve facades and enchanting music can be entrancing on first viewing however when used each episode it becomes annoying, albeit its not used every episode. So for those that are not that interested in the con artist genre one episode is probably enough; for those that like the con artist genre it should be up your alley.
  • Not a bad choise.

A very polished, interesting and insightful drama is the perfect description of "Hustle". As a British TV viewer it is very encouraging to observe a very modern, slick drama. The direction of the piece is very new-wave with exciting camerawork and colourful cinematography. Adrian Lester is very comfortable and evokes much presence as Mickey Briggs. His past experience in high profile work alongside John Travolta, Emma Thompson, Kathy Bates and Billy Bob Thornton (in Primary Colours) shines through, as he confidently outshines the rest of the cast. The director of "Hustle" has taken a very modern view and adaptation of great con and heist movies. He uses slo-mo shots, stops time and allows the actor to look into the camera and give an explanation of the con. All these techniques engage the viewer and much interest is offered because of this. There are also many twists in the series which increases the interest in the drama. It's very impressive and the characters are so immediately interesting that you cannot help yourself from watching again and again.

As British dramas go, it's one of the best.
  • Hustle - The 'Oceans' of TV.

    8.0
Hustle is my first British TV show. Before watching this show, I was told that British Television was full of boring stereotypes. But, Hustle really stood out for me as it was witty, entertaining, slick and stunningly stylish. The show is about a group of diversely skilled con artists who perform a series of scams and heists which are elaborate and challenging. It first looked like an Oceans rip-off but came into its own as the pilot progressed.

Adrian Lester plays the clever, charming con man 'Mickey Stone' who has a perfect record in conning the rich. He is the leader of these 'pros of con' and completely outclasses rest of the cast on screen except Danny Blue (Marc Warren), a young talented short con expert who tries to join Mickey's team. Marc Warren certainly adds a touch of class and elegance to the show by his super comic skills and sarcastic nature.

Another unique quality of this show is the 'freeze frame' shot along with 'thought tracking' in which time stops so that the characters can explain the minute details of the sting. The technicians crew have to be credited for this amazing camera-work. The writers also have done a great job by adding plenty of twists and turns in the plot, thus, making it worth watching.

I have only watched the pilot till now and for that I would give it 8/10 but the show is bound to get better with time.
  • How to be a grifter.

    8.4
This show brings hustling into a new perspective. It shows how to do something called "long hustles", not just the ordinary "find the queen" scam that every streetcorner has.

The show has a similar quality as Mission Impossible (the newer series from 1988, I have not seen the original series). They get a mark, they sort out what to do, and they do it.

The series center around a group of people, there's the fixer that can get you anything, the sexy girl with the sharp mind, the roper that finds the mark and sucks him in and introduces him to the inside man, the brains, and the new guy.

The new guy is how we learn, as the series develop they teach him new tricks. How to perfect the hustling. And at the same time this shows us the actual art. During the score the series might bring the series to a pause to explain more.

All in all, the series is time well spent, it is amusing, at points even hilarious, it has interesting personalities that develop, there's a good mixture of everything needed to concoct a good and filling broth.
  • Some episodes have been amazing - Seasons 1 -3 were the best

    8.5
This show is still very watchable but in its prime it was amazing. I would rate a lot of the season 1 to 3 episodes very highly. That's when the cast was the strongest - later in season four there was no Micky and now in season five Stacie and Danny are gone :-( Overall, the show really stylishly and wittily spins out the cons though, and it is fun to watch. The characters have their own moral code that they don't con people who aren't greedy - for example they would not rip off little old ladies on pensions or honest business people. The technique and psychology of the con is talked about eloquently by the characters - - especially Albert Stroller - so you feel like you are learning these inside secrets of something usually well hidden. I think in some small ways this show has made me see the world a little differently and how many tv shows can you say that about? Favourite episode: Albert's Challenge (but best watched with a bit of a grounding in the characters and storylines).
  • A brilliant BBC 1 show.

    8.5
One night after coming off of the computer my brother was watching this show, so I thought I would too. This show was amazing! All though I didn't quite understand all of it, each episode was funny and entertaining. I'm not quite sure what happened to it, is there another season coming out? I heard that some of the characters wouldn't be appearing in it also.

I only saw about three episodes, but since they were so good i'm presuming the rest of them were too, and if another season did come out i'd be sure to watch it, a truly decent show. :)
  • Possibly the smartest show on television.

    8.5
Hustle is the story of a bunch of 'grifters' (Con artists) who are halfway to being Robin Hoods; that is, they steal from the rich, but haven't yet gotten around to giving it to the poor. They do, however, only steal from those who "deserve it", allowing you to like the characters a lot more than you could if they were just thieves.

The artistry and complex plots require a lot of writing skill, and it is a great credit to the writers to pull it off seamlessly. You are kept guessing until the very end, but you are never left hanging. The cast are great, and the show is everything it should be; funny, smart, action packed, and clever.

If you get the chance, watch it.

  • One of the best British shows ever.

    8.7
Hustle i think is one of the best shows to come out of britain in a very long time it is a very smart show it is very classy and has alot of wit and strength in its storylines. The acting in the show is great and the writing is amazing.

I loved the first series more then any of the rest not saying the rest are bad because there not i just love the storylines in the first series they are so strong. I hope that they keep on making hustle for many years to come. Keep it up.
  • i LOVE it!!

    8.8
Hustle is just great!! I only just started watchin the series last year but since then i can't possibly miss it!
I really like that they have developed Danny as their leading man however I'm not so sure about their new replacement - Billy Bond - I'm not so sure about his character. I am really enjoying this fourth season but I would like to catch up on earlier seasons if anyone knows any links... Its a shame the series only has 6 episodes because I'm totally addicted to it. Cant wait for the finale now - I'm sure it will be great!
Overall its a great show! =D
  • This smart slickly done show is the best

    9.0
I was a fan of the American show "Leverage" first but thanks to AXSTV for putting on reruns of "Hustle" here in the States, it is obvious that it was the model for "Leverage" (although it is a bit more physical in nature in their cons using ropes and what not). And they have the token American (Robert Vaughn) in there. I think Adrian Lester is a brilliant actor and Hollywood should give him a shot, if he wants it.
  • Good~!!

    9.0
I think that Hustle is just as good as it has always been. Seasons one to three were the best and i would say they were better than four and now 5. This is probably because season 3 didn't have mickey in it and now five is missing danny and stacie. However, i'm a fan of the show and will still be watching every episode. Just because it's missing a few favourites doesn't mean i'll abandon it. Will still watch it until it finishes and will still enjoy it. No matter who's in it, it's just as funny as always and the way pull off each con is fantastic. Really interesting and fun to watch.
  • This program is very intresting as well as funny and witty. you dont need to watch every episode either to follow along, which i think is great. Great Characters, overall great show, shame they only do 1 series a year with only 6 episodes.

    9.0
Based around 5 main characters, In April every year the new series of Hustle starts. the characters are brilliant and the episodes are well thought out and made brilliantly.
Each character has their own roles and responsibilitys and they all work brilliantly as a team. its a shame they only do 6 episodes a year as i could watch it loads. its good how you dont have to watch every episode either you can just watch one here and there and still follow along. which i think sometimes is importanat to have in a show becuase a lot of people do not get time to sit down every single week and tune in to a show.
the Cons are brilliant, very clevely thought out.
i am very very impressed with this show, and cant wait for the next series.
  • Fast paced, sexy and exciting!

    9.1
This show is amazing. I love all the character and the plot lines. It is like watching mini-movies instead of a television show. All the cons the group pull of are very believeable. The characters from Mickey to Danny to Albert to Stacie to Ash are all lovable and you want to see them prosper. A show that doesn't dumb itself to please the audience.
  • A fine example of Brit-Slick

    9.1
The pilot sets the general tone for the whole series. After watching the pilot, my interest was piqued. I wanted to know if the moderately high production value would be maintained, pushed or dropped. I wanted to know if plot development would turn out to be predictable, fragmented or revolutionary. I wanted to like the characters.

Into the 2nd series or season, I can't say I've been disappointed yet. Some low moments, yes, but generally moderately high production value, consistent ensemble acting and lively script and plot development.

Robert Vaughn is fabulous as usual, watching him kinda makes me miss Ilya Kuryakin.

Adrian Lester has had me hooked since Primary Colors.
  • Hustle - four seasons of high quality episodes

    9.2
Hustle is an ensemble show about a team of con-artists who work together to pull elaborate 'long cons' (cons that take anywhere from a few hours to a few days to plan and implement). There are some exceptions, but, in general, this team tries to target moral lowlights (not that grifters are exactly capable of taking the moral high ground). Hustle has occasional moment of violence, where the tension level is raised, but for the most part, the show has a light feel and it is obvious that the stars are going to come out of the other side unscathed (although there's no guarantee the cons will succeed).
  • No matter how bad the title summary might sound, it does not teach us to be conmen.

    9.3
No matter how bad the title summary might sound, it does not teach us to be conmen. It teaches us that all the bad things that did, you will suffer the consequences. And no matter how perfect your plan might be, always prepare with a plan B and plan C in worse case scenarios.
  • Just great, it\'s a pity having to wait a year for every season.

    9.4
I just love it. Carachters are well bult, avery chapter is fresh and interesting. The only bad thing, seasons a so short... At he beginnig I though I would soon get tired, because it\'s no easy to make so many con stories, but creators jus make every episode really special. Every season just gets better, and allways with the same cast, wich I fint it relly difficult to do. It has been a wonderfull discovery for me, really amazing. I just can\'t wait for next season to satart, and I know i will have to wait for a long year.
  • Follow the proceedings of five slick and stylish London-based scam artists skilled at relieving greedy fat cats of their cash!

    9.4
A brilliant show, a very good acting, a refined sense of humour, and very slick and clever cons. A modern breed of Gentlemen thieves!
The music is probably one of the nicest I can remember of, a combination of retro songs, with a twist of jazzy, funky sounds. Definately happy to see the show back on television...
  • Hustle is a show that keeps you guessing

    9.5
You end up trying to figure out how they manage to get themselves out of whatever situation they're in or how they are going to con someone, when you find out how the hustle gang has managed it you realise how clever the show can be! This show has a good balance between the hustle gangs personal life and between their work. Sometimes you might be able to guess how but almost always you won't guess it all. Some parts in the show seem pointless but when it all comes together it makes you think you definitely wouldn't be able to become a grifter.
  • The art of the con, "getting something for nothing." Hustle is a show that is in a league of its own! Amazing pace with plot twists and turns everywhere.

    9.5
Hustle is a show about a group of grifters(con artists) who work together on elaborate long cons. Each episode shows the crew trying to hustle a big score, and on they way they pull off smaller cons to raise money. What is so great about this show, is that you think you know what is happening, but each episode throws you a curve ball at the end. The audience usually has no idea whats going on until the very end, when the amazing plan B has worked like a charm. The characters are very well written as well as the script. Quick witty remarks, action, and the cons, make Hustle the show to watch!
  • Top Quality

    9.5
We Don't Get Many Top U.K Drama's But This Right up their with most of the top U.S Drama's. The story of a group of elite con artists, who each week pull off a complicated scam with several twists. Mickey is the group's leader, who comes up with the plans. Albert is a veteran con man who in his later years searching out suitable victims. Ash comes up with all the locations and equipment needed for the cons. Stacie steps in whenever she needs to use her feminine wiles. The group is rounded off by Danny, a young grifter who Mickey took under his wing from the the first Episode and now has become the group leader in place of Mickey who left do Long Con In Sydney, the gang introduced a new member in place of Mickey, Billy.
  • Hustle is slick, cool, and so good they sent it to the Americans.

    9.5
Quite simply, there is no other show out right now that can hold a torch to Hustle. It is English TV at its very best. Hustle shows the slick, smart, and cool side to London and a group of con artists, who always seem to come up on top and know every trick in the book.
But it doesn't take itself too seriously and that is part of its charm.

In the third season it surprised critics by being every bit as good as its preceeding seasons. They said it would run out of ideas but that is certainly not the case.

My only complaint would be that the show has lost some of its cool since the gang left the London Park Hotel and moved into a penthouse apartment. There was something about the shiny, full-of-innocent-marks hotel that made me want to keep watching.

    I'd recommend it to anyone.
  • The Big Con

    9.5
You the watcher may be able to get a better view of Hustle if you will imagine for a moment what would happen if, say, ten of your friends decided to play a prank on you. They get together without your knowledge and write the script for a play which will last for 3 - 5 days. There are parts for all of them. Your every probable reaction has has been calculated in advance and the script prepared to meet these reactions. Furthermore, this drama is motivated by some fundamental weakness of yours--liquor, money, women, men, or even some harmless event. You are forced to go along with the play, speaking approximately the lines which are expected; they spring unconsciously to your lips. You have no choice but to go along, because most of the probable objections you can raise have been charted, and logical reactions to them have been provided in the script. Your natural but latent motives are called forth in perfectly contrived situations; actions which, under other circumstances, you would never perform seem natural and logical. You are the victim of a confidence game.
  • We do come up with the goods sometimes...

    9.5
Over in the UK it is a real struggle to find decent well-written drama, the majority rely on tired old cop/detective formulas, or hospital dramas which desperately try to emulate ER (and fail)
Hustle is one of the great joys of the TV schedule. Fast-paced, stylish, and not afraid to use attractive actors, it far outranks most other Brit TV shows at the moment. Adrian Lester (who plays Mickey, the head of the con-gang), is a brilliant actor (you guys may remember him from The Day after Tomorrow) and lends gravitas to the proceedings. Nice to see Robert Vaughn back in action too.
Season3 episode2 was a real high point for me, the show deviating from its usual 'find victim, setup con, watch plan run into hurdle, then solved ingeniously' sequence, to pit Mickey again Danny, his young protege, in a contest of 'speed-conning'.
    Watch and enjoy!
  • One of the best show ever by a long con.

    9.5
Set in the city of London this show follows a gang of con artist that call them self the long con. In the show the gang pull all kinds of incredible heists that will have you thinking for hours of how they did it. This show has only had two series but I would love it if they tried for a third. Every thing about this show is genius the slick but sly characters and of cores the cons that are simply out of this world. I would recommend this show to anyone it is simply one of the best shows of my time and it will go down in history.
  • A very classy show indeed.

    9.5
This is a great programme and oh my god its British!! Tony jordan has done a really good job because there is never a dull moment and the script is very well written. To top it all off there is a great cast and it has marc warren as the lovable and funny danny!! It was actually my nan that got me into this programme so thank you Nan!!
