Jeannie, My Guru
AIRED:
Tony picks up a teen age hitchhiker named Suzy who happens to be the daughter of his new neighbor, General Schaeffer. Schaeffer is a stickler for efficiency and hates all hippies, including Suzy's boyfriend Harold, a very spaced out one. Suzy, afraid of having her father see her in her hippy garb, hides out in Tony's house and winds up seeing Jeannie pop in. Suzy then blackmales Tony into hiding out Harold or else she will spill the beans about Jeannie.moreless

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • That was General Peterson's granddaughter who was in "My Master the Author". General Schaeffer didn't arrive until season four.

      • In this episode, General Shaffer's daughter is a hippie. But in episode #46, "My Master, the Author" General Shaffer's daughter is a shy, quiet girl. How did she, an innocent child, turn into a wild teenager? And also, wouldn't Major Nelson have noticed her from before?

    • QUOTES (0)

    • NOTES (3)

      • This episode was originally supposed to appear around the beginning of the fourth season, in order to introduce General Schaeffer AND his daughter Suzie.
She was supposed to know just enough about Jeannie to butt into Major Nelson's life at regular intervals (as she does in this episode)...and bring a more youthful audience along with her. Sidney Sheldon decided otherwise, and eliminated Suzie after this one episode, keeping General Schaeffer as Tony's commanding officer, and never again had him refer to having a daughter at all!

      • The band that appears in the party scene was the Lewis and Clark Expedition and they were part of the Colgems records stable of performers, which included the Monkees and Sajid Khan and the New Establishment. In fact, their leaders Travis Lewis and Boomer Clark would later write songs under their real names of Michael Martin Murphy and Owens Castleman. Also, one of their songs, "What Am I Doing Hangin' Round", was later covered by the Monkees.

      • This is Vinton Hayworth's debut as General Winfield Schaeffer.
