    • TRIVIA (5)

      • In the Baghdad marketplace, when Ali picks up Jeannie and then sets her down, her headpiece is crooked.  In the next close-up of Jeannie it is straight.  The next wide shot shows it to be crooked again.

      • At the end of the episode, Tony and Roger are going on a double-date, but nothing is said about Tony's engagement to Melissa, which ends two episodes later.

      • For the wedding party scenes, Jeannie's crop top and jacket are similar to her Season 2 - 5 costume.

      • The scene where Tony is being sold as a slave is very similar to a scene in the 1933 film 'Roman Scandals' in which Eddie Cantor's character is also being sold as a slave.

      • Tony gives his serial number as 36076A.

    • QUOTES (13)

      • Tony: Will the wedding be soon, sir? I'd like to see it, but I really ought to be getting back to Cocoa Beach.
Papa: What is this "Cocoa Beach?"
Tony: It's a little town east of ... Baghdad.

      • Papa: It is sad. We were such a happy family before the tragedy overtook us.
        Tony: Tragedy?
Papa: When our daughter refused to marry the wicked djinn and he turned her into a genie.
Tony: Oh, yes, that. Well, every family has its little problems.

      • Bidder: Three shekels.
Auctioneer: Oh, three shekels. He is worth twenty times that much. Look, look at these teeth!
Tony: I have a lot of cavities. I use the wrong toothpaste!

      • (Tony is placed on slave auction)
Auctioneer: How much do I hear?
Bidder: One shekel is all he is worth.
Tony: One shekel??? I'm a college graduate!

      • Jeannie: Oh, I went shopping early this morning.
        Tony: You left the house???
Jeannie: Yes. I had to hurry down to my neighborhood grocer to shop for your supper.
Tony: Well, now, who told you to do that?
        Jeannie: A man on television.

      • Jeannie: Did you really mean it when you said that I was the greatest thing that ever happened to you?
Tony: I refuse to answer on the grounds I may incriminate myself.

      • Jeannie: Miss Galaxy is a fat showoff. They should call her Miss Full Moon.

      • Jeannie's Father: Tell me, my son, how many camels dost thou have?
        Tony: Why… why none. I…
        Jeannie's Father: None?
Tony: Well… well, I mean, I have none with me.
        (both chuckle)
Jeannie's Father: My daughter tells me that thou art a prince among princes.
Tony: Well, you know how Jeannie exaggerates.
        (both laugh)
Jeannie's Father: I would wager that thou hast a king's ransom in goats and oxen.
Tony: Yeah, well, I-I can honestly say I have as many goats and oxen as anyone in Cocoa Beach.
Jeannie's Father: I'm pleased to hear that.

      • Jeannie: (introducing Tony to her parents) This is Nelson, flier through the moons of space.

      • Jeannie: I came as quickly as I could to tell you the news. Oh, Mama. I can hardly wait for you to meet your new son-in-law.
        Jeannie's Mother: Oh, my dear.
Jeannie's Father: And what does he do for a living, my daughter?
Jeannie: Oh, he flies through space, Papa.
Jeannie's Father: From this he makes a living?

      • Tony: Where are we?
Jeannie: We're at the market place, Master. Oh, and there is Ali, the man who hit me.
Tony: Wait a second. Wait. That was 2,000 years ago.
        Jeannie: Yes.
Tony: Well, why were you crying about it this morning?
        Jeannie: I just remembered it.

      • Tony: Come on, let's go.
        Jeannie: Where?
Tony: Well, down to the market. Maybe we can still catch him.
Jeannie: Please, do not bother. You-you have to go breathe.
Tony: I do not have to breathe.

      • Tony: Say, has the weather changed much in the last 2000 years?
Jeannie: Oh, weather is weather. In ancient Persia we had an old saying: "Everyone talks about the weather, but no one does anything about it."
        Tony: You're kidding.
Jeannie: I jest you not, Master.

    • NOTES (5)

      • The narrator of the opening title {episodes 2-8} was veteran radio and voice-over actor Paul Frees, who DID imitate Orson Welles' stentorian tones in a few projects.

      • In this episode, Jeannie's parents are normal mortals, and she says that she was turned into a genie as a curse. This is contradicted by later episodes in which her mother is a genie and she clearly comes from a whole family of genies.

      • Beginning here, for the next seven episodes, the animated opening was replaced with a live-action, narrated opening that recounted how Tony Nelson found Jeannie in her bottle. The narrator sounds a lot like Orson Welles.

      • This is the first appearance of Jeannie's mother. Florence Sundstrom played her in a couple of episodes, but Barbara Eden would assume the role in later seasons.

      • Richard Kiel would later gain fame playing the giant Jaws in the James Bond films "The Spy Who Loved Me" and "Moonraker".
