Episode Summary

EDIT
For NASA charity auction, Tony paints a copy of Rembrandt's famous 1658 self portrait. He uses his own signature to denote it was a copy and not the authentic article. Jeannie sees her master's work and decides he's quite a painter. Unbenownst to Tony, however, she blinks the original article (that was hanging in the Louvre in Paris) in place of the faux painting. Two art experts buy the painting for $300,000, and that's where the real problems start. Seems they're suspicious about the painting Tony had donated, since the Rembrant self-portrait bears quite a resemblance to the real thing! Of course, Tony is unable to explain what he believes happened, and Dr. Bellows gives him 24 hours to come up with a plausable explanation or face felony theft, forgery and grand larceny charges. While Dr. Bellows invites a world-renowned art expert to inspect the Rembrant painting, Tony demands that Jeannie fix the mess her mischief got him into. Jeannie decides to pose as the elderly art expert, who declares the painting a copy. All's well that ends well, right? Not quite, as Tony and Dr. Bellows barely manages to convince the real art expert his services were no longer needed.moreless

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • One of the experts introduced himself as Dean Geller during the auction. The credits show Booth Coleman as Dean Geller too. However, during the conversation in the office he introduced himself as Harmenszoon van Rjin (source: Subtitles on DVD), during the same chat Dr. Bellows addresses him that way.

    • QUOTES (3)

      • Dean Geller: (refers to the painting) His brush strokes are as familiar to me as my wife's face.
Tony: I don't know about your wife's face. But those brush strokes are mine.

      • Dean Geller: There is no doubt about it. This is a genuine Rembrandt.
Tony: Oh no, Sir. That's a genuine Anthony Nelson. Believe me, I painted it myself.
Dr. Bellows: Oh, did you Major? Then perhaps you'd mind telling me where you got canvas 300 years old?
Tony: Oh, well. I didn't know it was that old. I just found it lying around the garage […] Well, really there's nothing to explain, Sir. The art dealer sold me a bunch of old pigment.

      • Jeannie: (paints) poopoopoodooo...
        Tony: What are you doing?
Jeannie: I am painting a Van Gogh.
Tony: Isn't Rembrandt good enough for you?
Jeannie: (refers to the sale of the other picture) What did you got for it?
        Tony: About thirty years.
        Jeannie: I do not understand.
Tony: Jeannie, it's against the law to go around painting an original Rembrandt.
Jeannie: But why? He painted so beautiful.
