Episode Summary

EDIT
Tony has to go on a three-week trip to Rome (which involves an ocean cruise to Europe) for business. Jeannie begs her master to let her come along, but Tony knows she'll only be in the way and orders her to stay home. Jeannie (certain that not only will danger befall Tony, but he'll meet and marry a beautiful woman he meets on the cruise) tries every trick to change Tony's plans. When the captain catches on (rather quickly, mind you), he decides to let her come along ... under the following condition: That she can come in her human form only if she can legally obtain a passport without using her magic. Of course, she can't get the needed passport, but doesn't find this out until she nearly gets another woman in serious trouble.moreless

    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (4)

      • The parakeet keeps changing position in the cage, switching back and forth, whenever the camera angle changes.

      • One of the extras walking through the NASA hallways wears the same blue plaid dress on two successive days in this episode.

      • Tony says that Jennie might know Rome as Gaul. However: Rome is named Rome, since it got founded (by the mythical Romulus), Gaul is the ancient name of France. What's more: In "My master the thief (ep. 27)" (same season) the latter fact is mentioned correctly.

      • When Tony is talking to Dr.Bellow's,in his office(notice,as he turn's his head to the right)he looks to his right,as if on cue,and before she pop's wait's for Jeannie to appear. He turned to look TOO soon. How would he know that Jeannie would appear?

    • QUOTES (5)

      • [Jeannie is not pleased with Roger's plans for her while Tony is on his ocean voyage...]
Jeannie: Oh-ho, back home, we have an old saying: "With someone like YOU for a friend, Captain Healey, who needs an enemy"???
[she blinks out of his office in disgust]
Roger: Imagine that! They had a "Captain Healey" back in those days....

      • [on blinking into "Master"'s office, thoroughly displeased that she was tricked into her bottle while Tony though he was leaving without her...]

Jeannie: Because I love you, I will give you a choice!
        Tony: (sarcastic) Oh, thanks!
Jeannie: What kind of lap dog would you like to be?
Tony: I don't know, what kind have you got?
[she blinks a leash and dog collar into her hand..]
Tony: (panics) You wouldn't do that...?
Jeannie: It is the only way I can trust you!
        Tony: You can't do that!
        Jeannie: WATCH!
Tony: I mean, you CAN do that, but you shoudn't! For one thing, you wouldn't be able to talk to me.
Jeannie: Well, I would not be able to talk to you if you went to Rome without me!
        Tony: Jeannie, that's blackmail! That's out-and-out BLACKMAIL!!
Jeannie: It is an ancient Carthaginian custom!
Tony: (sighs) Okay, fine, you can go...

      • Jeannie: We are going to a journey? (pleased) Oh, master, what a wonderful surprise
Tony: Oh, great, good. I've got a bigger surprise for you: You're not going.

      • Jeannie: Master, you must not go. Ships are not safe. I was shipwrecked for 2000 years before you found me on that island and rescued me from my bottle.
Tony: Jeannie, you were travelling in little wooden boats. I'm gonna be on a great big steel-lulled ship. Must weigh 30000 tons.
Jeannie: Thirty-thou… Oh, that will go down even faster.

      • (inside the U.S. Passport division office)
Jeannie: I have an old passport.
Clerk: Oh, well, why didn't you say so? That'll be a great help. (Jeannie hands a folded stone plate in size of a passport over) Babylonian passport?
Jeannie: Oh, signed by king Nebuchadnezzar himself. See? It's not valid for travel in Carthage, Phoenicia or North Mesopotamia.
Clerk: It's not valid here either.

    • NOTES (1)

      • Jeannie shows a passport signed by Nebuchadnezzar (N. I lived in the 12th century, N. II in the 6th century beyond Christ), what implies that she was around at least since 600 b.c. around.
