Episode Summary

Roger Healey is in love and is still searching for his missing Dream Girl, Jeannie, complete with an engagement ring in tow. Meanwhile, he and Tony are ordered by their superiors to escort and entertain two Russian cosmonauts who are visiting the Base, one of them being a good-looking female cosmonaut who has an immediate attraction to Tony. In a jealous huff, Jeannie sneaks along on the men's assignment by hiding herself (in her bottle) inside of Roger's overcoat pocket. The female Russian cosmonaut expresses a real interest in the antique bottle and Roger gives it to her as a gift of friendship. Once Tony realizes what has happened, he makes every effort to get Jeannie back, but not before the Russian cosmonaut discovers that she now possesses a genuine genie in a bottle.moreless

    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • Tony wonders how he would get in her bottle if he did marry Jeannie.  Yet, seven episodes earlier, she smokes Tony into her bottle at the end of "The Yacht Murder Case".  And in the following episode, "Anybody Here Seen Jeannie?", she turns him into smoke in order to leave Dr. Bellows office unseen.

    • QUOTES (8)

      • Tony: I can't let you do this to my best friend. He's only read Omar Khayyam. You used to sit in his tent and drink wine with him!

      • (General Barkley is explaining to Tony and Roger what kind of "entertainment" they should show their Russian counterparts in Cocoa Beach.)
Gen. Barkley: Their stay will be brief. But, we'd like them to leave impressed with the flavor and the majesty of our great country...(angry glance at Roger) So keep them away from the Watusi Festival and the strip joints!!!

      • (after discussing marriage Jeannie went into her bottle)
Tony: (still holding the bottle, wondering) Even if I did marry her, how would I ever get in that bottle?

      • Roger: (refers at Jeannie) I see her once and she disappears. A woman just can't vanish into a puff of smoke.
Tony: Roger, with women, logic will get you nowhere.

      • (Jeannie just made her bottle touch a woman, who sees in Roger the scrapper and slaps him)
Tony: (soon afterwards) Why did she do that?
Roger: Maybe she knew what I was thinking.

      • Tony: (refers to Roger) He's turned in his wolf suit. He wants to marry you.
        Jeannie: I know.
        Tony: Yeah, well, he can't.
Jeannie: Why not? I am single.
Tony: Yeah, well, you've been single for 2000 years.
Jeannie: Well, that is just it. I do not wish to be an old maid.

      • Tony: (night time, Tony gets tired) Oh boy –yawn- Oh, Jeannie … Jeannie, bed time. Bottle time.

      • Jeannie: I would not be going out with your best friend if I were married to HIS best friend.

    • NOTES (2)

      • The current syndicated and cable versions of this episode were prepared from a "master" copy which had many of Richard Wess' original music cues missing from the soundtrack. Sony Pictures Televison tried to "reconstruct" the background musical score by "repeating" certain cues, or using new musical backgrounds to fill the gaps.

      • Note the picture of Lyndon B. Johnson on the wall behind General Barkley's desk. At the time this episode was produced, Johnson was the 36th President of the United States. This was one of only two instances that the series would make a topical reference to the current president (the other was in "My Son, the Genie", two years later).
