  • Plagiarized from "Bewitched", or influenced by it? Either way, this one is a riot! (spoiler-free)

    9.6
The basic idea of finding the next day's news wasn't exactly new back then either. How "Jeannie" deals with the situation, moral play with horse racing included, is top notch.

Indeed, the depth put into the horse racing subplot is what stands out the best. In particular is how Jeannie resolves the situation so Major Healy learns his lesson... As usual, what could have been another corny sitcom episode ends up being more than the sum of its parts, thanks to good writing - even if they did have to "borrow". It's not like the "Betwitched" episode was bad either...

Definitely a worthy episode from season 4.moreless

  • QUOTES (0)

  • NOTES (2)

    • In the episode fly me to the moon, the chimpanzee that Tony and Roger were working with was named Sam, which was seen as a slap at the "Bewitched" crew who always accused the "Jeannie" crew of stealing their ideas and making them tawdrier. Of course, this episode could be one example of that accusation.

    • This episode is a remake of the Bewitched episode, "Bewitched, Bothered and Infuriated" from two years earlier, in which Aunt Clara accidentally conjures up tomorrow's newspaper. In the Jeannie story, they read that an unnamed astronaut will break his leg that day. In the earlier Bewitched episode, they read that boss Larry Tate will break his leg. A major plotline of the Jeannie episode involves Roger betting on horse races, armed with the racing results from tomorrow's paper. In the Bewitched episode, Aunt Clara said she'd like to take the horse racing results to the track, but it never got further than her brief suggestion.

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • The episode title is a pun on a line spoken by Scarlett O'Hara in the 1939 motion picture Gone with the Wind, "After all, tomorrow is another day."
