This episode, though seemingly another one about a fight between the Mertzes and the Ricardos, stands out for the remarkable first half. We get to see the Mertzes acting against their own interests, picking a fight with the Ricardos to further Ricky's career. It's nice to see Ethel and Fred work together. In previous confrontations they often worked together only because they had a common enemy. Here you can sense some real solidarity. The constant bickering has ceased for a while, though Fred can't help but give Ethel a dirty look when she calls herself 'Little Ethel' on the phone to Aunt Martha.
Of course, the very touching act of self-sacrifice is quickly forgotten and the two couples get involved in a childish fight. The second act, with the television interview, follows the traditional route, including some unrealistic mugging by Lucy and Ethel.
