What may have helped was their ages. Vivian was 34 and Bill was 64!
|Also, Lucille Ball demanded Vivan gain weight and look older so she (Lucy) could be the more attractive one. I hate to say that about Lucy (because I think she's fantastic) but it's true, I've heard/read it for years!|

I think it shows what great actors they were, because you never would have known that they didn't like each other from the way they played their roles. I had also heard the thing about Lucy demanding that Vivian Vance gain weight and be made up to look a lot older than Lucy, but I also read that it was not true. Apparently the demands were made in a fake contract Lucy gave to Vivian Vance as a gag at a party for the show.
