This is the umpteenth episode about Lucy (and Ethel) getting into showbiz. What saves it from being average is the crisp writing. I wish today's writers could come up with as many wonderful lines. In its first scenes it lovingly mocks women's clubs and the jealousy involved. Then we get a great Lucy & Ethel scene. (Any episode about their schemes is worth every minute.) After that there is a small scene about a wife talking her husband into doing what she wants. The situation mentioned in the title comes rather late in the episode. (Perhaps the writers didn't want to give the show a title about showbusiness again. That might sound like a rerun to most viewers.) The Ricky song feels like a time-filler but the Lucy & Ethel song comes off great, even the second time, when the two ladies resort to some strange kind of mutual striptease.
