When Lucy is showing Ricky that she can do the commercial, Desi Arnaz is clearly trying not to laugh.
When Joe enters the stage saying he can't find Lucy backstage you can see the Ricardo's apartment set and Lucille Ball smoking on her break.
Lucy: (drunk) Well, I'm your Vitavatameatymac girl. Are you tired, rundown, listless? Do you pop at parties? Are you unpoopular? (pauses) Well, are you?
Lucy: (drunk) Vitameatavegamin contains vitamins and meat and megetables and vinerals.
Ricky: Lucy, are you gonna fix my breakfast or not? (Lucy ignoring Ricky) What do you want me to do, starve to death?
Lucy: Would you, please?
(Lucy doing the commerical)
Lucy: Hello friends I'm your Vitameatavegamin girl. Are you tired, run-down, listless? Do you poop-out at parties? Are you unpopular? The answer to all your problems is in this little bottle. Vitameatavegamin, yes Vitameatavegamin contains vitamins, meat, vegetables, and minerals. Yes with Vitameatavegamin you can spoon your way to health. All you do is take a big tablespoon full after every meal (Lucy takes a spoonful) It's so tasty too! Tastes just like candy. So why don't you join the thousands of happy peppy people and get a great big bottle of Vitameatavegamin tomorrow? That's vita-meata-vegamin. (Lucy winks.)
(after Lucy's "television show," Ricky wants to know how she took the television set apart)
Ricky: What did you do with all the works?
Lucy: I took 'em out
Ricky: I can see that, but where is it?
Lucy: "It?"
Ricky: Yeah! The chassis slides right out!
Lucy: All in one piece?
Ricky: Yeah, all in one piece!
Lucy: Ewww . . .
Ricky: What do you mean, "ewww?"
Lucy: Well . . .
Ricky: Lucy, what have you done?
(Lucy walks into the hallway)
Lucy: Well, I didn't know it all came out together
Ricky: So?
Lucy: So, I took it out one piece at a time!
(Lucy wheels in a tray full of television parts)
Ricky: Oh no! Oh no!
Ricky: Look, I don't care if you don't want to talk to me or not, but please get up and fix my breakfast.
Lucy: (after getting drunk off of Vitametavegimin) Do you pop out at parties? Are you unpoopular? Well..., are you?
Lucy: Joe, is it hot in here to you?
(Lucy has dropped the package of cigarettes and bent over the TV to pick it up)
Ricky: Well, what do you know? Third-dimensional television.
When Lucy comes back on to the set after a break and is drunk if you look at the area that she comes from you can see the Ricardo's fire place.
If you can take your eyes off of Lucy (I know it's nearly impossible) while she's rehearsing and look at the director, he's laughing hysterically.
Vitametavegimin is actually 23% alcohol. However, if you closely examine the labels on the bottles seen behind Lucy when she is rehearsing the commercial, they say Vitametavegamin is 11% alcohol. It was originally 11% in the script, but, changed to 23% on the spot because the higher percentage of alcohol sounded funnier.
This is Lucille Ball's all-time favorite episode.
TV Guide named this #1 on their list of the top 50 I Love Lucy episodes.
Vivian Vance isn't on this episode.
This episode is named as one of the "Most memorable scenes in television".
In order for Lucy to the scene the Apple Pectin had to taste good to her. In The I Lucy tour you get to try to see if you can do this scene.
The "vitametavegamin" that Lucy is forced to taste over and over again is, in actually, apple pectin.
Ricky called "Mr. Hatch", to go on with the music. He was speaking to Wilbur Hatch conducting the Desi Arnaz Orchestra.
