In "Ricky and Fred are TV Fans," the Ricardos' apartment number was "3B." In this episode, Lucy says she was in "3D," to suggest to casting director that she was in "3-D Pictures." She later confesses that it was simply her apartment number. The apartment number was changed so that the joke would work. The writers felt that few viewers would have noticed the change in the apartment number.
Lucy: I have more talent in my little finger than most people have in their whole body.
Ricky: Uh-huh. Well, I'll tell you what. I'm going to an audition tonight. They're casting for one of the biggest shows in television. Why don't you come along?
Lucy: OK. What'll I do?
Ricky: Well, why don't you let them audition your little finger. What does it do? Sing? Dance?
Lucy: (after hearing Marion's boisterous laughing) Marion, stop cackling! I've been waiting ten years for you to lay that egg!
Lucy: (looking at Caroline Appleby's Chinese-modern furniture) It looks like a bad dream you'd have after eating too much Chinese food.
Ethel: She sure told him, huh Tightwad?
Fred: You said it, Tacky.
Flub: A moth flies in front of the camera and into Vivian Vance's face, when Ricky, Fred and Ethel explain about Lucy not being able to tell the truth to get an audition, but they couldn't do a retake, because the studio had a "no retake rule."
Based on My Favorite Husband #29 ("Absolute Truth")
In actuality, when this episode aired, Miss Ball was really 42 years old.
The original draft of this episode featured a scene in which it was implied that Ricky Ricardo had cheated the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. Desi Arnaz, however, was very protective of his adopted homeland, and insisted that Ricky Ricardo would never cheat the government. Ultimately, that particular scene had to be rewritten. It was one of the few scenes in the history of the show to be completely rewritten.
Lucy Ricardo says that she is 33, weighs 129 pounds, and would have mousy-brown hair if she didn't dye it.
Lucy's apartment number was changed from "3B" to "3D" for this episode to fulfill a joke about Lucy "appearing in 3D."
