Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • In the scene where Ricky is performing his bi-lingual "Little Red Riding Hood" bedtime story for Little Ricky he concludes it by saying "then the 3 of them sat down to have dinner, tortillas, beans and rice and they all lived happily ever after" Ricky describes a Mexican dinner, not a Cuban meal.

    • The picture on the bumper in Little Ricky's crib changes from Lucy on the right & Desi on the left to Desi on the right & Lucy on the left.

    • In the scene where Ricky is telling Little Ricky the bedtime story, the camera cuts to show Little Ricky in his crib. If you look closely, the picture on the bumper in the crib is of a cartoon Lucy & Ricky kissing each other.

    • Fred and Ethel mention that they've been married 23 years. Yet a year earlier, in "The Courtroom" episode, they were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. And a year before that, in "The Girls Want to Go to a Nightclub," they were celebrating their 18th anniversary!

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Lucy: There's a gentleman who lives in the neighborhood who's just dying to meet you. He's heard a lot about you and I think it's high time you two got together.
      Ricky: Who's that?
Lucy: His name is Ricky Ricardo Junior.
      Ricky: You mean little Ricky?
Lucy: Oh, then you have heard of him?

    • (Ricky announces that he'll take care of Little Ricky during his week off)
      Lucy: You mean everything?
      Ricky: Yeah. All day--everything.
Lucy: That means getting up at 6:00.
Ricky: So? That's not so tough.
Lucy: I don't know if you know this working nights and all, but there's a 6:00 in the morning, too.

    • (after Fred hears for the first time that Ricky has a week off from the club)
Fred: Ethel, why didn't you tell me Ricky had a week off?
Ethel: (surprised) What? Lucy, why didn't you tell me Ricky had a week off?
Lucy: (to Ricky) Why didn't you tell me Ricky had a week off?

  • NOTES (2)

    • The next ten episodes and Episode 91 open with the Philip Morris box and the star credits crawling up the screen. The animated Desi jumps off his credit with a parachute which opens to reveal the heart shaped title.

    • This is the only episode of "I Love Lucy" to be filmed without a studio audience. This was because the producers were worried that the babies portraying Little Ricky (Joseph/Michael Mayer) would be unable to perform on cue if an audience was invited.
