This is Frank Nelson's (Ben Benjamin) seventh guest appearance on the show. He appears a total of eleven times and plays various characters: Freddie Fillmore (three times during seasons 1 and 3), Henry the waiter and Sergeant Nelson in season 2, Dickie Davis in season 3, a train conductor and customs officer in season 5, and Ralph Ramsey in season 6.
After Mr. Benjamin is knocked unconscious, Ethel combs his hair forward and uses the comb as a moustache to make him look like Oliver Hardy of the comedy duo Laurel & Hardy.
Lucy: I thought we all agreed that you weren't going to do anything to ruin Ricky's chance.
Ethel: Well, you're ruining it.
Lucy: That's different. I'm his wife. I have a right to ruin it!
(Lucy enters the living room dressed as Marilyn Monroe)
Ethel: Hey, who are you supposed to be?
Lucy: Guess.
Fred: Humphrey Bogart in a wig.
Pete, the grocery boy: But, Mrs. Ricardo, when I play the trumpet, I'm real gone.
Lucy: (shooing Pete out of the apartment) Then go, man, go!
Ricky: Mr. Benjamin, that sounds very, very exciting. Is it gonna be Cinemascopy and Stereonophic?
Mr. Benjamin: I beg your pardon?
Ricky: Is it gonna be Cinemascopy and Stereonophic?
Lucy: Mr. Benjamin, I think he means Cinemascope and Stereophonic.
Ricky: That's what I said!
Ricky: Would you leave me alone? I've been in show business a long time.
Lucy: It doesn't make you an actor just because you've been shouting "Babalu" and beating on a cowhide.
(Lucy is giving Ricky some acting tips.)
Fred: What do you want him to do?
Lucy: For one thing, I would like him to develop a distinctive way of speaking.
Fred & Ethel: Ricky?
Lucy: How did they find out?
Ethel: I don't know, I didn't tell anybody. Did you?
Lucy: Certainly not. I didn't tell a soul and they all promised to keep it a secret.
Lucy: I never knew this neighborhood was so full of frustrated performers. At last I've found out where vaudeville went to die.
The character name Ben Benjamin was the actual name of Madelyn Pugh's and Bob Caroll, Jr.'s agent.
Music performed on this episode included "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life", "In a Little Spanish Town", and "Habanera".
This episode marks the beginning of the "Going to Hollywood" story arc which makes up most of the remainder of the season.
