(Ethel learns that Lucy was unable to convince Ricky to perform with her for Ethel's women's club benefit)
Lucy: So you can't get Ricky. You still have me? After all, what's Ricky got that I haven't got, except a band, a reputation...?
Ethel: And talent!
Lucy: Well, you look again. You'll be able to find me one.
Ricky: No, I wun't.
Lucy: Not much, you wun't. You find me another song tomorrow or just dun't come home. Auf! Auf! Auf!
Lucy: Do you love me?
Ricky: Sure I love you.
Lucy: Would you climb the highest mountain for me?
Ricky: Mm-hmm.
Lucy: Would you swim the widest ocean?
Ricky: Yeah.
Lucy: (kissing Ricky) Would you do anything in the world for me?
Ricky: Yeah. Anything but sing at Ethel's club next week.
Lucy: I don't know what you're talking about. And who told ya?
(The Ricardos and the Mertzes are gathered around the piano and discover Lucy is singing off key)
Ricky: Aw, honey, why don't you just go and sit down and listen to the rest of us.
Lucy: No! Either we all sing or nobody sings.
(Ricky and the Mertzes retreat to the other side of the living room)
Lucy: Well, all right then. If nobody wants to sing, I'll just sing by myself.
Ricky, Fred and Ethel: No!
(Lucy and Ricky on Auf Weidersein)
Ricky: What's the matter? Don't you like the song?
Lucy: Auf!
Ricky: What's wrong with it?
Lucy: What's wrong with it? I sound like a hungry seal.
Ricky: Why, honey, don't be silly. The audience will love it.
Lucy: Well, they might love you, but they're gonna throw me a fish!
Ethel: Even for sweet charity, I am not going to be the back end of a horse.
Lucy: "Auf Wiedersehen"? That's a nice Cuban melody.
Lucy: I love you.
Ricky: Lucy, what do you want?
Ethel: My women's club wants Ricky.
Lucy: Well I'd be very glad to help them out, but I'm not through with him yet.
Ricky: Fix us a snack. I'm hungry.
Lucy: No, you can't insult me and then expect me to feed you.
Lucy: Well, if no one wants to sing, I'll just sing by myself.
Ethel, Ricky, Fred: NO!
Songs: "Shine On, Harvest Moon," "Auf Wiederseh'n, My Dear," "We'll Build a Bungalow"
When Lucy and Ricky are learning the song she will sing, Desi almost laughs!
My Favorite Husband: "Charity Review"
In the scene where Lucy is warming up to practice her duet with Ricky, we see a book on top of the piano entitled, "How to Sing," with F. Alsetto as the author. Falsetto is actually a vocal technique (literally meaning "false") that allows a vocalist to sing beyond his or her normal vocal range.
