Blooper: Ricky took off his neck tie while undressing for bed while handcuffed to Lucy, but the next morning, Ricky's neck tie is back around his neck.
Will Wright plays the sheriff in season four's episode, "Tennessee Bound".
In this episode, we find out Ricky's night off is on Mondays.
In this episode, we find out that Mr. Walters, the locksmith, lives in Yonkers, NY.
(The producer has just announced that Ricky goes on in two minutes)
Ricky: Oh! We might as well tell him. We'll never make it in time.
Jerry: Oh, you can't do that. The producer'll kill me and you'll never work this show again.
Ricky: Well, I don't care if I ever work the show again. You don't think I'm gonna go on television handcuffed to her, do you?
Jerry: As your agent, I say go on!
Ricky: Well as myself I say no!
Lucy: Do I get a vote?
Ricky and Jerry: No!
Lucy: All right!
Ricky: Are you gonna cancel or shall I?
Jerry: You cancel your 90%. My 10% goes on!
Ricky: (to Lucy) Well, genius. What now? Are we gonna go through life like this?
Lucy: Now honey, remember, when we were married, you wanted to be joined together in matrimony. (chuckling)
Ricky: And as I recall, it was 'til death do us part.
Lucy: Yeah, that's right.
Ricky: (moves toward Lucy menacingly) That event is about to take place right now!
Fred: Those are old Civil War handcuffs.
Ethel: Have you been saving them ever since then?
Lucy: You know how long it's been since I've seen a movie?
Ricky: How long?
Lucy: Well, I can't remember the title, but there was a guy named Ben that won a chariot race. I understand that they have pictures with sound now.
(Lucy finds out that Ricky has rehearsal later on that evening)
Lucy: But, Ricky, tonight is Monday. You were going to take me to a movie and dinner.
Ricky: I was?
Lucy: Well, I didn't tell you about it yet, but you were.
The opening titles in this episode comprise of the animated Lucy and Ricky on a scaffold in front of a Philip Morris cigarette box. Lucy ties her end and Ricky doesn't, letting the scaffold fall. She tells Lucy to slide down to him, and she slides right off the screen. He pulls the box cover to reveal the title and stars. Lucy comes back in and bumps into him, knocking him out. As the title is shown, she kisses him and brings him back to life. This opening was also used for Episode 43.
Two scenes were cut from the final script one where Ricky danced with the TV show hostess thus revealing Lucy hiding behind and another where Lucy is forced to take Ricky to the beauty parlor because they are handcuffed.
Music performed in this episode included "In Santiago, Chile".
Writers Bob Carroll Jr. and Madelyn Pugh first tried out the handcuff routine and then gave it to director Marc Daniels and his wife, Emily to act out. This was to see if the routine was even plausible.
Lucille Ball later redid this skit with Gale Gordon.
My Favorite Husband: Liz and George Handcuffed
The gag of being handcuffed together was used in The Honeymooners episode "Unconventional Behavior," as well as the "Handcuffed" episode of Three's Company.
Part of the plotline for this episode was later worked into an episode of "Here's Lucy" in 1971 guest-starring Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor.
Lucy jokes that the last movie she'd seen was about a man named Ben who won a chariot race. She was referring to Ben Hur, the 1907 15-minute silent film directed by Sidney Olcott.
