    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • Goof: In a New York pizzeria during that time there would be not be a machine to flatten the dough. This was a common practice in Los Angeles pizzerias.

    • QUOTES (4)

      • Lucy: (on the phone) Ethel? How'd you like to play a new game called "Hide the Houseguest"?

      • Mario: Last night I'm-a get-a fired.
Lucy: No, Mario, you didn't get-a fired.
        Mario: Yes, I'm-a get-a fired.
Lucy: Mario, I think you misunderstood. Ricky said that you were--
Mario: Please, Señora Ricardo. My English is not so pretty good, but in my country when two men grab me, push me to the door and kaploop (makes a kicking motion)--I'm fired.

      • Rick: What can you do?
Mario: Well, I'm the best gondolier in all of Venice.
Lucy: I'm afraid it's slack season for all the gondoliers in New York.
Fred: Unless you go down to Canal Street!

      • Ricky: You know something? We haven't played bridge since we four went to Europe.
Lucy: I know. I bet I've forgotten everything I ever knew about bridge.
Ricky: Good. Then maybe we can win.

    • NOTES (3)

      • When the pizza dough is covering Lucy's head, Lucille Ball needed to suck out an air hole because she was having trouble breathing.

      • This will be Jay Novello's third appearance on the series: He appeared in "The Séance" as Mr. Meriweather in season one and as Mr. Beecher in "The Sublease" in season three.

      • Lucy spent three evenings at Micelli's Pizza Parlor in West Hollywood so she could perfect the act of twirling pizza dough.
