    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • When Alexander Scott is captured by Zulu King Cetshyayo on board his vessel, Cetshyayo states "we Zulus created the burnt Earth policy in the 1820s". This is inaccurate as "burnt or scorched Earth" policies can be traced from antiquity through the Middle Ages centuries before the 1820s.

    • QUOTES (7)

      • Kelly: What'd he say it was?
Scott: Freely translated, "This is a place without honor where the samurai is dead."
Kelly: That the name of the town or are you just feeling a little grouchy today?

      • Scott: You promised wouldn't do this again.
        Kelly: What?
Scott: Peanut butter, jam, and mayonnaise.
        Kelly: It's great.
        Scott: With Swiss cheese.
Kelly: Eat it, you'll grow up strong like daddy.

      • Scott: Did he break anything?
Kelly: No, didn't you see those invisible magic blocks I threw?

      • Scott: Listen, I don't understand it, man. I get beat up just as much as you do, I never wind up with a beautiful girl. Every time I wake up in some alley sleeping next to some snoring wino.
Kelly: Well, that's part of basic training, man. Didn't you take the course? Advanced Hero Lumps, it's called.

      • Cetshyayo: An unknown man with a weapon is unknown. Except for his weapon.

      • Cetshyayo: The Zulu greeting to the king is given from the knees, Mr. Scott. Preferably with the forehead touching the ground.
Scott: In South Africa, not in South Philadelphia.

      • Scott: If you don't shut up, I'm going to swallow my cyanide pill.
        Kelly: You haven't got one.
Scott: Well then I'll eat one of your lousy sandwiches, then, that ought to do it.
