    • Scott: (after Kelly lands a fish) You know, I just had a blood-chilling thought.
Kelly: Tell me about it, George.
Scott: What are we going to do with this swollen sardine?
Kelly: Swollen...? You peasant. We're going to stuff it and mount it and put it in the den.

    • Karolyi: And I know you have been briefed about my experiments in conditioning animal behavior.
Kelly: Brainwashing. Well, I always send mine out.
Karolyi: Ah, well, we do our own laundry right here on the premises. We've been setting you up very carefully for eight months. Oh boy, will you hate me. But then you're going to love me. And finally you will obey me as if I were your own... personal god.

    • Blaine: All right. You've got two days. Forty-eight hours. If you can save Kelly, fine. If not, we put out a Code 10 on him. Kill on sight. Do you still trust him? Even after last night?
Scott: Trust him? I need him. He's the only guy who wears a shirt the same size that I do.

    • Vanessa: Now, I've been trying to convince Kelly that he should settle down and become vastly successful. Well, he should be a tycoon at least.
Scott: Tycoon Kelly. Sounds like some offshore storm.

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • Kelly: And I'll once again be your alert, clean-cut, clear-eyed, government-issue Captain Marvel.

Kelly references the muscular strong-jawed old-fashioned comic book superhero Captain Marvel, nicknamed "The Big Red Cheese." As created by C.C. Beck and Bill Parker in 1939, Captain Marvel is often portrayed as a somewhat naive but good-hearted superhero. His alter ego is a young Billy Batson, who transforms into Captain Marvel by speaking the magic word SHAZAM and gains the wisdom of Solomon; the strength of Hercules; the stamina of Atlas; the power of Zeus; the courage of Achilles; and the speed of Mercury.

    • Karolyi: As one of your novelists once wrote, "You can't go home again.

Karolyi references the 1940 novel You Can't Go Home Again by Thomas Wolfe. The main character, George Webber, writes a novel about his hometown but the citizens don't appreciate his depiction of them and threaten his life.
