So.. not sure if some of us are still hanging around or if I'm completely alone now, but I'll post and see what happens.
Alright so there's this guy named Sigmund Freud. His contribution to society? Somehow linking everything in existence to sex. Everything. Words, images, thoughts, etc. Obviously his ideas have to fend off controversy and it's not hard to see why many might believe it's all just a big piece of poo. (Sorry, but I don't like to curse even on the internet and I plan to stick by this rule). Nevertheless his theories and methods have made a major impact on our society in how we try and decipher our unconscious, figure out what makes us tick, or just make subtle yet crude jokes on television. iCarly (among many other sitcoms) is (in)famous for the latter. This form is dedicated to the impact of Freudian psychology to the show and what it may or may not indicate about certain characters and situations. Were certain jokes intentional? Do they add any significance to the plot at hand or reveal something about character motivation? Let's dig in.
Insert innuendo here.
(Also to keep the focus on the sciency stuff at hand this is the only forum where I guarantee I will NOT do a sign-off with a quote from other medium.)
I'll take requests on anything you want me to look at but in the meantime my first posts will most likely be Seddie (more specifically, how Freudian psychology would support it's existence within the show) or discussing the theme of Oedipus/Electra Complex popping up every now and then.
And if you didn't catch on during that last sentence, this technically IS a PG-13 rated forum- we ARE looking at the deepest parts of Dan Schneider's Id here...
