  • iGo To Japan- Mediodcre

This movie was very funny an very cool! But two big concerns I have!
    1. The plot made absolute no sense! So they go to Japan because of a dumb award show! Not good!
    2. VERY racist!!! French, Japan people they really made fun of them!!
    Not that good but mediocre!
  • Racist and unfunny, total disappointment for a great show like iCarly...

    "Abysmal"
They made fun of Canada, France, Japan, they made Japanese people look stupid, they made the French Comedian look like a stuff up psycho, they made the Japanese Comedians look like evil selfish bad guys, and not to mention all the other cracks about other countries...

I am none of the countries mentioned, but when they make fun of other countries it hurts just as if it were mine, I mean doesn't iCarly have French fans? what would they think when they hear the "I hope it's not in France" "Why?" "Cause it's full of French People" sketch? And with no doubt iCarly also has Canadian fans, all of which might get upset because of those jokes and start hating iCarly...

I hope the other movie "iFight Shelby Marx" is better...
  • Part 1 of the iCarly episode "iGo to Japan" started out very very poor

    4.0
    "Poor"
Since this episode is 3 parts long, I'm gonna review all three parts. In my opinion, this was just a poor start to the 3-Part iCarly episode "iGo to Japan". Most of the episode was nothing but annoying, annoying, annoying crap. Excuse my language but this episode actually annoyed the heck out of me. Carly, Sam, and Freddie watching a clip of Kyoko and Yuki was really annoying and that Kyoko and Yuki clip was just ridiculously stupid. I've seen funnier stuff than that. This episode just felt way too annoying and kinda childish for me to enjoy it. My score is really kinda high because Spencer learning how to speak Japanese and repeatedly getting shocked with the collar on his neck was hilarious. That plot is what pretty much what my score a little higher. The other thing that made my score a little higher was the last 2-3 minutes of Part 1 when Carly, Sam, Freddie, Spencer, and Mrs. Benson were at the airplane but it wasn't the airplane that they expected which made it funny. Overall, Part 1 was WAY too annoying and kinda childish for me to enjoy it. 4/10
  • If this truly was an award for Internet comedy, then iCarly would NOT have won, especially directly after performing. Nor would a sketch be required to have been prepared for the show...

    4.5
    "Poor"
Not horrible, and it had its moments, but falls to cliche and some unfunny punchlines.

First off, the sketch that iCarly sent as their qualifying sketch for the competition (the space cheerleader thing) was not at all funny and instead extremely annoying. And their competition (which, apparently, only consisted of two parties--1: a delusional Frenchman who seems to think his poodle puppet ["MAI POOPET!!"] is real and is about as mature as the French guy from Monty Python and the Holy Grail; and 2: two Japanese twins [fraternal] who are prop comedians but whose comedy seems to only be from them whining and beating each other up) are not funny at all; if anything, it insults what great comedians you can find on the internet (such as Smosh, Blamesocietyfilms, Can of Nothing Productions, and Dave Days). But I digress.

Second, I don't understand the point of some plot points. WHY is a BRITISH guy holding an Internet competition in JAPAN?? Why is he British? Why Japan? Did they get a British guy because Britons automatically signify elitism? Japan because they're known for technology? And also, why isn't the commitee that sanctioned the competition providing airfare or tickets? WHYYYY?!?? And also, how the heck are Carly, Sam, and Freddy stupid enough to believe that "American phones don't work in Japan"? That's like saying that Canadian popcorn doesn't pop in an Italian microwave!! Why didn't they just try it out anyway??

Thirdly, in Japan, English is a strongly emphasized second language--it's highly unlikely that someone living in Japan wouldn't at least have a basic grasp of the English language. (But, then, that guard was described as idiotic. So, going back to my "WHY?!??"s, why would they hire a unilingual guard for an international competition? And why not have an interpreter if that IS the case?)

Anyhoo, getting back to the episode/film itself, it wasn't all bad. Though as many other reviewers, the "I'm wearing a second towel!" line was pretty much the only truly funny thing. I didn't understand why the nominees had to do a live sketch on the awards show--why not just judge them on the webshows themselves? And also, why did iCarly win right away, directly as soon as they had performed? Didn't the judges need some time to discuss and, well, judge? Were there judges? Was it simply based on audience reaction? Why weren't the acts brought out at the end if that was the case? Why was there such fanfare when iCarly won? It just all seemed too cheesy and cliche in the end. I also don't know what the point of the Good Charlotte cameo was--they were only onscreen for barely thirty seconds and furthermore, they haven't had a hit (at least, in the U.S.) in years. Plus, they aren't exactly a "big" or important group. I doubt many people in the show's target audience have heard of them.

Things I DID like about this: the fact that it was advertised as a movie and actually WAS a movie, Sam breaking up Kyoko and Yuki's "fight" by merely flipping them, "I'm wearing a second towel!", the subtle Spencer/Mrs. Benson-shipping (even though I'm not really a shipper), the award show host's opening monologue (despite only thirteen seconds of it being shown), the soap/candy running gag, and the use of a green screen.

So, yeah. It wasn't terrible--it was passable and definitely not the worst this show's given (the worst was all reseved for the second half of season two), but it doesn't really measure up to most of the other episodes.
  • Dumb, unfunny, like a lot of iCarly

    3.0
    "Bad"
Okay, first of all why can't Nick hire Japanese people. They don't even have to speak Japanese, just of Japanese descent. I mean what is up with that fat guard. He is nowhere close to appearing Japanese. Also, in Japan, even six year old's can speak even a little English. And the finale, the bit that made them win? That was nowhere CLOSE to being funny. Overall, it was dumb, unfunny, lame, filled with bad jokes, like a lot of iCarly's episodes. As usual, Freddie was irritating, Sam who shows a lot of promise, was pushy and aggressive, and Carly was just plain irritating.
  • igo to japan

    "Good"
iCarly has really taken the movie concept for a TV show and run with it. While other Nick shows have mostly failed with this before (except for Kenan and Kel's awesome Two Heads are Better than None) this series has just excelled every time the run time exceeded 30 minutes.

Here we saw the gang go through all seven steps of the hero's journey, and then some en route to their award show appearance. They went on a cargo plane (with the pilot being Don Stark of That 70's Show fame), they were kidnapped and we even got an extra dosage of Freddie's hilarious mother.

This iCarly movie is one of the best of the season and was an enjoyable hour and 12 minutes of television. Definitely go out of your way to see it.
  • A perfect icarly movie. When the iCarly gang is honoured at the iWeb awards, they go to Japan which turns out to be quite the adventure.

This TV Movie was written by the fabulous Dan Schneider as usual, and I must say everytime I watch it, it gets funnier and funnier. The funniest part was when they were trying to get out of the plane. I thought that they actually jumped out of a plane, but we all know they used a green screen. This episode was a really good one overall. In this movie, the iCarly gang goes to Japan for the iWeb Awards. They meet their rivals Kioko and Yuki. Their rivals take them to a highway and leave them there, while also managing to trap Spencer and Mrs. Benson. Eventually they make thier way back to the stadium of course running inton six chinese security guards who do not know english,or don't know who they are for that matter. It was funny backstage where Sam and carly were reinacting the whole thing, and Freddie broadcasting it to the live audience on the big screen. Oh, and another funny part was when they get splashed with mud and Spencer and Mrs. Benson thought they were four hobos. Dan Schneider did a pretty good job with this episode. I hope he makes more of these in the future seasons.
  • This movie was awful, it only got three because of Spencer and Freddie

    3.0
    "Bad"
Everything else was just ridiculous and embarrassing. They quite blatantly didn't even go to Japan, and made no effort to make it look like they did. During Carly and Sam's supposed 'hilarious' ending that won them the award, I did not feel even close to laughing the entire time, in fact the only thing that was really funny was Spencer's towel comment, that had me giggling. All in all, it was incredibly stupid and plain rubbish, as is most of iCarly really... Spencer and Freddie really are the only good thing about the whole creation, good on you guys.
  • Anticlimactic and annoying, though with redeeming bits.

    4.5
    "Poor"
While "I'm wearing a second towel" almost makes this entire movie worth it, I have to say that the ending annoyed me.

Japan is incredibly English-friendly (even if they're not fans of our country). The fact that the awards' show hired non-English-speaking guards is fairly unrealistic in the first place. But that aside, the show itself saddened me.

In the beginning you think, "Oh, British guy, this is official. Probably a high-budget search for the Internet's best comedy."

With this in mind, I honestly expected iCarly to lose-- there are many laughs on the Internet that TV simply doesn't provide. Just imagine if the guys from Red vs. Blue had been invited!

Instead we get an unfunny ventriloquist and 'conjoined' twins where the humor seems to be the mere fact that they're conjoined. Odd, considering a similar act is often used in Japanese skits (usually with one person hiding behind the other and acting as their hands), and thus this shouldn't be considered anything special. It's no wonder iCarly wins the competition simply by showing up.

A fair enough episode/movie, but it falls apart when you look at any details.
  • While there are some funny moments, iCarly deserves a better first movie then this.

    7.0
    "Good"
I had a few issues with this movie but my biggest one was how ridiculously over the top the first half of it was. Spencer was never a mature person but he looked like a complete moron after misunderstanding the flight information the way that he did. Having people pee in a jar is not funny... its just gross. After they all jump they all conveniently land in the same exact place and almost all the luggage magically ends up there also. When they finally do get to Japan, the show makes no effort at all to make it seem like they are really there. I understand if they could not actually go to Japan but they could have done better then what they did. The audience at the web event is also fake which makes the whole thing feel very low budget. Despite all of this I did enjoy that last third of the movie. Spencer's escape was very funny and all of them trying to deal with the crazy guards was great. If only the whole movie had been that good! I would have also liked to see some relationship progress but everything stays the same. Carly continues to deny Freddie's plea for love and all Sam does is hurt him all the time.
  • First iCarly movie was amazing!

So they finally give us a movie, and I was so glad when I found out they weren't calling it a "TV Movie" because it was 1 hour and a half long! This got me even more excited because I hate to see things rushed down. The movie was great and it gave everything I would expect from iCarly. Although it felt a little predictable at times. I liked that the episode had a brilliant message for viewers to learn from, which is: Don't trust strangers, and never get in a car with people you don't know, even if they seem nice. I love the fact that iCarly (the webshow) is now a famous show recognized around the world, and it all started as a silly project among friends. I can see things going up and up from here. Great movie, can't wait to see it again!
  • iCarly's first TV movie was a hit or miss. And, as usual, it was a hit!

    9.5
    "Superb"
Let's start on one of the most important things to say: love couples. If you are a Seddie or Creddie fan, you will not be disappointed. There are lots of hints here and there. Even though I'm a Seddie fan, but some of the Creddie clues were cute and/or funny at the same time. The main cast's acting have improved drastically from the first episode. The villains played their roles well as they made me want to hate them. Overall, it was a great epsiode filled with comedy and maybe; romance. If you are a die-hard iCarly fan, then you won't be disappointed with this TV movie.
  • I loved this movie! (Well, I Do love Japanese things anyway) but not the point. I Laughed so many times! Especially at the random Japanese arguing...

    10
    "Perfect"
Okay, so I loved it! Though I'm starting to think that the writers took the names Kyoko and Yuki from the anime 'Fruits Basket'-Lol! Jk! I know that they can be common (but, who else but Natsuki Takaya would name a guy 'Yuki'?) Anyway, I really, re ally loved it; the random Japanese arguing was one of the best parts! (Even though I only knew what 'Baka' meant)And the Japanese learning wizard! (I could say what he was saying...)Oh and the random security guard!! The one with the signs that were so random. (Spanish? Happy Birthday? A banana?!)Oh and I loved the hostess lady who said that they were a 'honeymoon couple' then Carly slapped Freddie! And all the injections!! "This one doesn't go in your arm)-Lol!!! Anyway, it was pretty good for their first TV movie; it was funny but could have used a little more cultural reference. (Like food and Anime...) And maybe subtitles for the arguments, so that you know what Kyoko and Yuki were saying. But all in all it was good!!
  • The icarly group wins a trip to Japan for the Iweb awarads and a pair of evil comedians kidnap then and leave them in the middle of no where. They make it back to Japan and win the Best Comedey Iweb award.

    "Good"
This wasn't my favorite but it wasn't too bad. Many parts, mostly the start, looked really low budget. Obviously, they couldn't go to Japan or figure out how to shoot from a car but they could have made it look better. During the scene when they are just leaving for the mall It looked just sad. There wasn't proper lighting for it and the green screen was about high noon, but the cars light was about sunset lighting. However, this episode is really funny. The best part in my eyes was probaly escaping from the massage. "Aha! I'm wearing a second towel!" Made me laugh hard. Obviously, shock collars, towels, and taxis, this was a Ok.
  • Awesome TV Movie!

    "Perfect"
So, we see iCarly's very first TV Movie... and it was amazing! This will surely help boost the popularity and greatness for this show's second season. This makes a truly special and exciting night seeing the awesome premiere of this along with Nick's new show: True Jackson, VP! So first was the movie, this was funny! There was some funny parts, and I sure am glad Carly, Sam, and Freddie won the Web award! That trophy looked sweet! I wish I could acquire that as a posession! This TV Movie was pure gold! (minus them geting covered in mud.) Anyway, that was great and also funny seeing them try and break in to the studios through those security guards! Lots of laughs, what up with the chief having a bladder infection? He should see a doctor then! This movie ended with a hit! They flew by cargo plane and jumped out using parachutes, and on the way back they were on a cargo ship traveling by sea! Well I guess now I will list the parts that were exciting and made this movie great! I liked the parts where their competition set them up, they used karate skills! Even better was Sam knew some and flipped them to the ground! (By the way, she did the same thing to the security guards when they were reinacting the past things they did on that day!) I liked that taxi too, it sure looked different, and small. The hotel was great too, It makes me want to stay there in a presidential suite! Nice beds and other artisitc surroundings! That French guy with his puppet was cool too. Well this wraps up my fabulous review for a fabulous tv movie! Spencer did not want that pilot's pepperoni! This was an awesome movie! Extra good parts were when Spencer and Freddie's mom were getting massages and Spencer ate seaweed and crawled through the room's vent, and Freddie got back at the guy who made the japanese learning figure with that electric shocking collar! Spencer said "Hah! I got a second towel!" I could go on all night, but I will end it here.
  • my whole family JUST NOW finished watching iGo To Japan and we must have LAUGHED OUT LOUD 50 times! this was iCarly's first movie and it was a home run! please read my review for details (spoiler altert)...

    10
    "Perfect"
as great as iCarly was in its first season, me and all my friends think its even better in season 2. it took us a while to get used to freddie's deep voice, but now it seems like he's always talked that way! the movie iGo To Japan was iCarly as its best ever. where do i begin? it even started a little different by showing a new computer that i've never seen before - so right from the beginning you know it's going to be a special episode. there we sooooo many laugh out loud moments!!! a debate about which is better, pudding or legs! being on a plane with possi (plural for possums). spencer kicking mrs. benson in the face. carly and freddie being a "honeymoon couple". two japanese kids named keoko and yuki. a french guy with a puppet named umpay (don't know how to spell it). anyways, for an icarly fan like me and my family, this was the best ever. but even if you arent an icarly fan yet, watch iGo To Japan and you will be! THE BEST. 10 out of 10!!!!
