  • Carly and Sam find that their personalities don't mesh as well as they thought and get in their biggest fight ever. Meanwhile, Spencer and Gibby defend their boat from "pirates".

    "Great"
iQuit iCarly is easily one of my favorite episodes of the series. However, there's two down-points of this episode and sadly, they're quite major. 1. Fleck and Dave. What about them is funny exactly? With the exception of their part of "The Blowing", they were incredibly annoying. Was it really needed to have them be so important anyway? Couldn't Carly and Sam have found a way to fight without them? Or at the very least, just tone them down. Focus on more Carly/Sam, less on Fleck/Dave. 2. The Gibby/Spencer subplot. Now wait, I'm not not saying it was bad. It was very funny! Gibby and Spencer need to have more scenes together -- they play well off each other and the sillyness of each character works well with the other. However, with that said, this was NOT the episode to do it. It was hard to get wrapped into the Carly/Sam problem when every couple minutes we were pushed back to Gibby and Spencer on the stern...port...bow. For example, Carly and Sam up on the window washers platform (despite its cheesyness, it was entertaining)...one minute we were up there, next we were watching watermelons get pelted onto a boat. It just didn't work well, in my opinion. Had they paced it different or something, it may have worked. But I just found myself not caring, because I wanted to watch Carly/Sam. Hence, resulted in me fastforwarding. The whole time is just "ugh let's get back to the main plot!"

Now that the cons are out of the way, let's go the the pros! They definitely outweigh the bad.

    1. The development in Carly and Sam's friendship. We see that there WAS an underlying problem there and there always has been: about their differences. They're opposites and it had clearly been rubbing them the wrong way. This episode got them to confront that and only strengthen their already strong friendship. 2. The Gibby/Spencer! They are SO funny together! The whole boat thing was great, just in the wrong episode. They definitely need to have more scenes together.

    3. The entire divorce scene. Hilarious!

    4. The Blowing. It was quite possibly the ONLY webcast related skit that was actually really funny. 5. Sam in her vampire outfit. "Maybe if our producer wasn't such a DIPHEAD." or "Well maybe if a certain hobo had written a better script. MWAHAHA." Need I say more?

    6. I was really impressed with the acting in this episode. Miranda and Jennette did really good with the drama. The entire "fighty" scene in the apartment was different than Carly/Sam fights from earlier episodes. This time there was no yelling and screaming about petty things. This time, it was talking and saying things, mostly the truth.

I could go on with more fun moments, but I'll just end here with this. It was a GOOD episode, and I'm surprised the rating is as low as it is. There were some major problems with it but overall not bad. (maybe I'm biased: I LOVE the Carly/Sam friendship and episodes centered around it tend to be my favorite) I'll give it an 8.5
  • Not a good iCarly movie.

    "Poor"
I didn't like this iCarly movie at all. When I saw the commercial for this, I knew what the plot was going to be and how the episode was going to turn out. I mean this episode starts out with Carly, Sam and Freddie discovering these two boys named Fleck and Dave that make these not funny and weird videos. Then, they have them on iCarly and then they ask them if they wanted to do something with them for a Web Contest. They come up with something stupid with purple stuff, which isn't funny and then Dave gets mad because Fleck got purple paint all over his dad's car. Dave was totally overacting and could have just asked his mom to go to the store and buy paint remover and not use the pouch that Fleck gave him. Now, Fleck and Dave start fighting about this, which makes Carly and Sam take sides to this. Sam, of course chooses Fleck's side because he does "bad" things. Carly, of course chooses Dave because he does "good" things. Now Carly and Sam are in this stupid fight that they shouldn't even be involved in. Then, they set up a sattelite uplink, or something for iCarly because they don't want to be near each other. Then, Sam quits iCarly and being Carly's friend, as you can obviously tell by the title. Meanwhile, Spencer wants to win this boat by answering questions on the boat channel. It was funny when Specner had to take a shower and set up mirrors and Freddie said: "Is that a birthmark on your butt?" and Spencer said: "Don't look at it!" Then, Spencer gets the boat and parks it in some guy's parking space because it costs too much to get it to the dock. So, the guy gets his baseball team after practice and they get Spencer out of the boat. Then, they catapult melons, or something at them and they get out of the boat. Meanwhile, Carly wants to go with Dave up to the top floor of their apartment to the window washer and Sam goes up there with Fleck too. Then, they fight and Carly is about to fall off , but Sam saves her and then Sam is about to fall off and Carly saves her. Then Fleck and Dave make up and Carly and Sam make up. It was funny at the end when Carly and Sam did the preview for the movie: "The Blowing" other than that, this episode was not good. D-
  • Ahhh...

    "Terrible"
This episode had many issues. Most of it was humorless. In fact, when I found out about this episode and what it was about, I immediatly knew this episode would have many awful momments, but when I saw it myself, man. The plot was bad. Sam and Carly broke up because of these two boys who split their friendship of doing a weird webshow. At the beginning of this review, I said most of it was humorless. It did have some good humor, like Sam's idea of Freddie getting in a daiper and jumping into a tiger exhibit for their webshow.

    Overall, I give it a mid-F.
  • Wow!!!... really writers?... I knew that this wasn't going to be a perfect 1-hour TV Movie... I knew it!!!!!

    5.0
    "Mediocre"
This review is for both part 1 and part 2 in the 1-hour "iCarly" TV movie "iQuit iCarly". Yes!!!!! my prediction about this 1-hour TV movie came true... I knew it was going to be a disappointment when I saw the promo for this. Come on!!! what's wrong writers?... are you running out of good ideas? The fans need an answer. Anyways, why would the writers make a 1-hour TV movie so stupid and so predictable? Come on!!! we all knew that Carly and Sam are going back to doing "iCarly" together at the end of this 1-hour TV movie. You must be stupid if you actually thought that Carly and Sam are giving up iCarly forever... they would have made this a series finale if that happened. Those two boys, Fleck and Dave really aren't funny at all. Come on!!! sometimes I feel like this show doesn't know what comedy is. The main plot was stupid and predictable but luckily Spencer's subplot saved my score. I thought it was funny when Carly meant to throw the muffin at Sam but missed the target and hit the elderly woman instead. When Carly and Sam were about to fall off the building... I thought it was funny when Spencer threw the rope down to save the girls and the rope hit Sam. Those are the only parts from the main plot that made me laugh. The subplot was even funnier. I thought it was very funny when Spencer is trying to win a boat. It was funny that Gibby would eat the watermelon. Spencer and Gibby throwing the watermelons at the people that are taking over Spencer's boat was hilarious. I thought it was so stupid that the audience (laugh track) would clap and cheer when Carly and Sam are saved... they make it sound like they were about to die and that they were never going to see them again... what a bunch of idiots. The ending was also ridiculous when Carly, Sam, Fleck, and Dave made "The Blowing" trailer. Overall, this was just a mediocre 1-hour "iCarly" TV movie... come up with better ideas than this for now on writers. 5/10
  • iCarly features a video by Fleck and Dave and after the show they decide to work with the boys to try and win a contest online. When Fleck and Dave get mad at each other it rubs off and Carly and Sam end up dissolving the show.

    7.0
    "Good"
Not one of the better ideas for iCarly the writers have come up with. I think it's the fact that Sam and Carly are so different that they get along. You would figure they would know that after all these years.

Fleck and Dave were a little strange and not that funny. They really didn't bring much to the show except the catalyst for the big breakup which seemed to happen with a whimper instead of a bang. Most of what they did were major sight gags like the purple car.

Spencer ends up winning a really expensive boat from watching the boating channel and some very strange things happen including Spencer bombing his own boat with watermelons. Yes, watermelons. In the end it's the same as always, Spencer did not consider all the factors when engaging in something.

Freddie pretty much stands around and gets slapped and waits for something to happen. Of course you can't blame him for not wanting to come between Carly and Sam, but when Carly wants something he acted very much out of character as he loves her and can't stand Sam.

Overall not one of the better outings for this show. I would still blame it on the writing and not the characterizations. There was more danger and negativity then funny and positive in the program and that's not what you sign on for when watching this show. Thanks for reading...
  • Highly dissapointed after waiting to see this episode for weeks.

I have just begun to get back into habit of watching iCarly, and this episode was so dissapointing. The "comedians",Fleck and Dave, were not funny at all.In fact, they ruined the whole episode. When they were on screen I found myself tapping my foot, which I only do when I'm annoyed or waiting for something particularly annoying to end.Carly and Sam made the episode a little better, but Spencer and Gibby saved the episode from getting a five. What I did not like were the Fleck and Dave videos, but "The Blowing" movie trailer was good.Sam and Carly did not fight very much, and by the end of the episode they were friends again.Anyone should be able to understand why they were friends again. When they both saved each other from falling off the ledge, they realized that they really cared about each other and you can't go through something like that and stay angry with each other. The bottom-line is this:Fleck and Dave were not funny, and they could not act either.I blame them for the episode not being very good,it's like "iMeet Fred" all over again.Carly and Sam were fine, but if the episode had not concentrated on Fleck and Dave so much, and more on Carly and Sam's fight like I thought it would originally,we would have seen more of their argument therefore the episode would have been better.Only Spencer and Gibby could save an episode like this, and they came to the rescue. The sub-plot with Spencer and Gibby was good,it was funny and took away from the main plot that was mainly Fleck and Dave.Overall, this is not really an episode I could watch over and over.
  • Could Have Been Better

    6.5
    "Fair"
Ever since I saw a commercial for this I have been excited. I first saw a commercial like 3-4 weeks ago. Maybe I set my expectations far too high. It wasn't really what I was expecting at all. I thought some of it was funny, some was weird {Hey, is that a birthmark on your butt?}, and some was rushed {the Groovy Smoothie scenes}, and some was corny. The part with Sam and Carly hanging there was really epic and made the movie seem more epic. And the ending was kind of scary, and not really in a good way.

So, not the best one-hour iCarly special, but it was very well-done
  • Yet another example of the show's commercial and hyping of the episode not living up remotely to the hype. (MAJOR SPOILERS FOLLOW)

    "Fair"
Let's face it: by this point it should be expected if Nick pumps up an episode of (heck anything now a days) it doesn't turn out nearly the way anyone hoped it would. Not even close.

So the episode is basically about Sam and Carly getting into a massive fight and ending iCarly. While this does happen, it's no where near as dramatic or even realistic in some aspects.

Pretty much, the girls decide to help Dave and Fleck create a web video to enter into a contest. The pair (which are the male, a lot less funny versions of Sam and Carly) get into a fight and stop being friends. When the girls try to get the boys back together, it in turn, breaks up their friendship, as each end up taking one of the boys' sides. (The boy that acts just like them.)

To begin with, the entire fact that Carly and Sam are friends (the odd opposites attract thing) and hence, the reason for the fighting at the core of things was a bit off putting. It's like they didn't realize their differences until someone else had to point them out, which is unrealistic, considering the girls have been friends sense they were young children.

So the entire episode, the girl end up having a mild fight, with Fleck and Dave thrown in for good measure (though good is stretch, as they were more annoying than funny) while Fred is simply the man caught in the middle of the entire thing.

I couldn't help but notice the disappoint that Fred didn't 'pick sides' and thus, add more to the ship war, and one person even said it was 'out of character' for him not to take Carly's side because he 'hates Sam'. Putting the obvious CarlyxFred bias aside, I'm alarmed that this was all some people cared about when the episode was suppose to be about CARLY AND SAM'S FRIENDSHIP. Besides, Fred has shown several times in different episodes while his and Sam's relationship is odd at best, the two are some sort of odd friends. And when the girls have fought before, he tried to get the duo back together. While he may not be best friend's with Sam, it's obvious he knows Carly is and respects the friendship they have and how strong the bond is. It's amazing that people can't see it or letting a lame ship war (not surprising) compromise actual canon of the show the actual character's characteristics as a whole.

In any case, the main story, while okay, could have been a heck of a lot better. There should have been more focus on Sam and Carly's friendship as a whole and the fight, not silly gags with Fleck and Dave.

There was also a side story with Spencer and boat: same ole same ole there. He gets into something, doesn't think the entire thing through, and end up having to resolve the issue and silliest way possible. Though Gibby helped him this time. (Gibby is definately coming up as one of the main characters...)

This time it's with a boat and Spencer ended up watermelon bombing said boat to get a bunch of teenage party goers off of it. (They were using it without asking.) To be honest, the side story wasn't that great and Spencer never ceases to amaze me with how very silly he is.

The big climax (aka the part that makes the girls realize their friendship is more important and puts things in perspective) was the part you probably imagined it would be: when the girls very lives are put in jeopardy.

Just like in the commercial, Carly almost falls off, with Sam having to save her life and pull her back on.

Then Spencer hits Sam with a rope on the head (the girls are suppose to use it to climb back up to safety) and this makes her in turn, loose her balance and almost fall off. It was one of the most unconvincing hits I've ever seen. The way she was hit, the fact that she fell forward as far and the way she did literally made no sense.

So after nearly dying, the girls upset and sobbing, become friends again. And after seeing the girls make up, for some reason, this makes their boy counterparts make up as well and hug. I suppose seeing the girl's lives in danger put things in perspective for them? Hmm.

In any case, everything ends with the group making probably the funniest part of the entire episode: a trailer for a movie, The Blowing.

Overall, not the best I've seen with the show but sadly, I've come to expect this now with 'overly hyped commercials' for it.

    Typical.
  • Best Episode Ever.

  • Better than most people think

    8.0
    "Great"
Perhaps this episode was overhyped, I can understand why people might think that, but I believe that some of the ratings others are giving are a bit extreme. I assume that happened because the episode was advertized, and all of the good parts were shown, causing people to think the episode would be spectacular, and when the episode turned out to be just as good as any regular length, regular quality episode, people could only focus on the worse parts. This in turn caused them to believe the episode was worse than it actually was.I don't think that Fleck and Dave made the episode any better, but they certainly didn't make it worse. They were hilarious in my opinion, but I think that they took up too much of the episode's time. If my memory serves me correctly, by the time it was clear that Carly and Sam weren't friends anymore, about half of the hour-long time slot was gone. Also, in contradiction to some other reviews, I don't believe that Spencer and Gibby "saved the episode" at all. If they cut out Spencer and Gibby a little more, maybe they would have had more time for the real plot. Overall, I give it an 8.0. Definately not anything to be proud of, but it was better than most people believe it was.

iCarly has more hour long movies than any other show on television these days, but this was not one of their better movies, definitely not iFight Shelby Marx in quality.

The dubbed in laugh track and crowd applause usually does not bother me, but here it was ridiculous as they had cheering and clapping when Sam and Carly were saved. It just sounds so ridiculous and this is something Nickelodeon should consider removing. This takes me back to Season 1 of Sports Night where they would have a random laugh track once every five minutes.

I laughed a few times, and it was still a good episode, but we expect so much more from this show.
  • I didn't really like it. Here's why. [SPOILERS]

    "Mediocre"
Well, I pretty much knew that the fight would be over as soon as the episode ended. But I didn't know that the fight would be so.. so.. calm. I thought there would be yelling, anger! Anything better than that... talking. And Fleck and Dave are stupid. And Spencer with his boat was stupid. Freddie did nothing. And them and the ledge thing, lame! First Carly falls, they save her, Sam falls, they save her. It was stupid! The only things I thought were funny were Sam's nose as a vampire, and how they cried when they got off the ledge thing! Other than those 2 scenes, I Would Not Recommend It!
  • Definitely could of been better.

This episode was too much filler, not enough development. Carly & Sam fight, get back together in the end, very... typical. The only highlight of the "movie" was when Carly & Sam almost died after falling off the ledge. I think the only actual laugh out loud moment was when Spencer dropped the rope on Sam's head, causing her to almost fall off the ledge. That's pretty much it. Fleck & Dave annoyed me beyond belief! Oh also another laugh out loud moment was the short they made shown in the end. I laughed at Carly & Sam's part. They make hilarious fake movie trailers! "The Blowing" I would pay to see that. :D
