While filming their web show, Carly and Sam talk about the show "America Sings" and how they are fans of the one contestant, David Archuleta, and they tell all their viewers to vote for him to win the show.

Later on, Spencer gets a letter from the video store saying that he owes them a late fee for a movie he lost ten years ago. Sam suggests that Spencer lies to the store, saying that he did return the movie, but Spencer admits that he is a terrible liar so Sam decides to teach him.

While Carly and her friends watch "America Sings," they are overjoyed when David Archuleta wins. But the next day, they hear on the news that David got a huge number of votes after they aired their web show where they told everyone to vote for him. They then see an interview from David's competitor, Wade Collins, who claims that he really wished he'd won because he was going to use the prize money to pay for an operation his mother needs. Carly, Sam and Freddie feel bad for what they did and they come up with the idea to invite Wade to appear on their web show.

On the big day, Wade appears on iCarly and he seems to forgive Carly and Sam, but he still wishes that he won. Carly then comes up with the idea to make their own music video and make Wade famous and Wade likes that idea. But as soon as the camera turns off, Wade's true colours are revealed. He is a mean jerk who claims that Carly is the whole reason he lost.

On the day of filiming the music video, Wade takes a long time just getting ready. When they finally start filming, they are interrupted by Spencer, who comes in showing everyone a puppy he's taking care of. Wade gets angry, claiming that he hates puppies and he calls everyone "hob knockers" and stroms out of the room.

When the music video is finaly done, Carly and her friends are glad because they will be finally rid of Wade. While Carly and Sam rehearse for their next web show, Wade comes barging in, demanding his video. They're about to give it to him when they notice a woman with Wade who turns out to be his mother. Wade says that he made up the whole story about her needing an operation to gain sympathy from the audience. Carly then refuses to give Wade the video, claiming that he doesn't deserve it, but then Wade grabs the video and runs away while his mother tackles Carly to the ground.

Later, Spencer heads to the video store and makes up a story that he and Sam came up with, saying that he did return the movie and that he was hanging out with the pope when he returned it. But Spencer breaks down under the pressure of lying and says that he never returned it. The store clerk admits that her boss sends all those late fee letters out just to scare people and she happily erases Spencer from the records.

Later on iCarly, Carly and Sam introduce David Archuleta on their show. David tells them how much a jerk Wade was to him on "America Sings," and Carly and Sam show the viewers a video of all the rotten stuff Wade did while they were filming his music video. The video shows Wade spitting really loudly, yelling at a homeless person and it ends with him saying that he hates America. Carly and Sam then give thier viewers Wade's address if they want to teach him a lesson and spend the rest of their show jamming with David.
