As well as seeing an episode or 2 on the guys who currently build the ice roads, I would love to see footage of the first ones to be built, if it was available. These days, there's all sorts of technical gadgetry to help them out (as seen in this show, where the thickness of the ice is regularly measured using some fancy equipment). But can you imagine how the first ice road builders felt, setting out with far more basic tools? It must have taken some guts to be involved with building those first roads.
And I agree - a little more family background on the drivers would be nice - I've just seen the first season, and Jay mentioned that his daughter had pneumonia. His fiancée must have had a hard time, worrying about both Jay and the baby. Mind you, I notice that his daughter's illness didn't prompt him to leave the ice road early. Although I think he actually lives in Yellowknife, so he could at least spend time with his family between runs.
