Episode Summary

EDIT
Kevin Smith
AIRED:
Clerks. It's one word that is no longer associated just to those people who work behind the counter culture. It now draws images of mindless customers, the true horrors of cigarettes, and many, many sexual images, even though none were seen. Indie filmmaker Kevin Smith brought us a world where the ordinary were the heros. Now over ten years later, he returns to the film that made him famous with the long awaited sequel. Icons looks at the life of one of the only filmmakers to have a one-on-one relationship with his fans, who keeps his friends close, and has made filmmaking fun again.moreless

  • A retrospective of Kevin Smith that any fan already knows.

While I'm a fan of Kevin Smith, I can't say that helped in watching this episode. There was a few additional interviews that were cool to watch (especially the one involving his wife) but it was basically a recap of all the information that most Smith fans would already know.

The highlight of the episode came when the cameras followed him at Cannes Film Festival. That footage was worth wading through all the redundant info on his life and films.

This episode was interesting to leave in the Smith libarary, but was mostly directed at those with just a simple interest in his life. Die-hard fans will like the festival coverage, and new fans might understand a little more about where he came from. It serves as a introduction to his life, so yeah, it's good for those who didn't know before.moreless
