Alan is being investigated by Inland Revenue and he's was worried about it. He's also worried because he's told Sonja that he is a friend of Bono. When Sonja ask him to introduce her to Bono Alan is stuck - that is until Lynn arrives with a man purporting to be Bono. Sonja isn't convinced.

Alan plans a Bond-athon for the bank holiday weekend with Michael. When he discovers that Michael has another friend Tex (real name Terry), who likes American things, Alan is upset and un-invites Michael.
Alan homes in on John the builder to be his new friend, who he shows off to Michael. Sonja helps Alan to design a meticulous schedule for the Bond-athon, and is disgruntled when Lynn wants to delay the start of it to visit her mother's grave, as it is the first anniversary of her death. While at the garage, Alan meets Mr Raphael, a teacher from his school. He persuaded Mr. Raphael to let him give a talk to the sixth formers at the school where he is now the headmaster, but only after locking him in the garage.moreless
